A Perfect Beginning

Chapter 37: 37 - Romantic Getaway

Chapter Text

Thursday, December 20, 2012

"Are you really sure you wouldn't rather spend Christmas with your family?" Paris asked, sitting in the car next to Rebecca while her girlfriend was driving the SUV through a snowy landscape, Paris wearing black jeans and a thick dark blue pullover.

Not taking her eyes off the road, Rebecca smiled lovingly, dressed in jeans and a black and white pullover. "You ARE my family, Paris. My girlfriend, my lover, my heart and my soul. The kids have their own plans with their partners… and I want you all to myself for Christmas."

"Sounds sexy," Paris retorted with a grin and refrained from distracting Rebecca since these streets could be treacherous this time of year. "Did Mason get back to you by the way?"

Pursing her lips, Rebecca shook her head. "We agreed not to mention him anymore… he has taken up enough of our time as it is. I just want to concentrate on us for the next two weeks."

It was about half a year after their first meeting at the opening night for the gallery and Rebecca was finally a free woman since Mason signed the papers and the divorce went through a few days ago. She was so happy to be able to propose to Paris at last, having bought the ring the day she had asked Mason for the divorce. She could hardly wait for them to arrive but was careful rather than get there as fast as she could. They chatted about trivial things until Rebecca found the junction they needed to take and they were at the well-lit log cabin in no time. Parking under the carport, they pulled their bags from the trunk after putting on their thick jackets,  leaving the groceries and other stuff for later. They entered the house through the covered deck with four comfy chairs and a small table at the front, another set of stairs at the side leading up to it.

Paris stopped dead in her tracks when she opened the door and found a warm fire burning in the big fireplace and a vase with red roses on the low table in front of it. There was a couch against one wall adjacent to the fireplace and two armchairs against the other where the door was as well as a big window. Everything was held in warm earthy colors and very spacious, having not expected anything less from her girlfriend.

Waiting patiently for Paris to move on, Rebecca grinned knowingly and watched her young artist take it all in before she stepped inside to drop her bags which let Rebecca enter as well and put her own luggage down. They both got rid of their heavy boots before doing anything else, putting them next to an armchair.

Behind the door was an intimate little dining niche with two windows above it, the one across from the fireplace reaching into the adjacent kitchen with everything they would need for the coming fortnight. Between the kitchen and couch, a wide archway revealed a closet at the back and a door on either side of the small hall.

Turning to Rebecca when she had closed the door, Paris gestured at the table with a curious grin. "What's this?"

"Let's put the bags away first and get comfy before I explain. I have to use the bathroom," Rebecca stalled, overcome with nerves suddenly. "I'll be right back," she said, grabbing her bags to take them to the bedroom, pulling off her jacket to put it in the closet and then vanished in the bathroom.

The room behind the kitchen was the spacious bathroom and across was the big, beautiful bedroom with a king-sized bed, big wardrobe in a niche behind the hallway and a window in each wall.

Taking a small box from the side pocket of one of her bags after carrying them to the bedroom, Paris put it in her back pocket and took off the pullover, a simple black t-shirt underneath. She went back to the living area to count the roses, a dozen, before taking one to smell its wonderful, heavy scent, eyes closed and humming quietly with a warm smile.

Rebecca was shaking as she stood in front of the corner mirror above the corner sink, hands gripping the cool porcelain tightly and gulping down lungfuls of air. "Get a grip, woman," she admonished herself quietly, pushing herself upright and taking deep breaths. "You can do this!" She took off her pullover, blond hair cascading over her white t-shirt-clad shoulders and with a firm gaze at herself in the mirror left the bathroom to take the garment to the bedroom.

With a shiver and trembling hands, Rebecca took the little box from one of her bags, stashing it in her back pocket and went back to the living area where Paris was standing at the table, facing the fireplace. Stopping a few feet away from her girlfriend, Rebecca drank in the vision that was her young artist, long wavy hair falling around her shoulders, slender body in the form fitting clothes so sexy and taking her breath away like the first time she had seen her all those months ago.

Unable to hear Rebecca since she was wearing socks, Paris could feel her approach, the tiny hairs at the back of her neck standing at attention like they had done when they first met. Turning around, Paris let her eyes roam her beautiful woman, face shining with her loving smile, deep blue eyes sparkling, warm light making her golden hair glow, sexy body in the figure-hugging outfit just wonderful to watch and a pleasant shiver ran up and down her spine.

"Those are for you," Rebecca rasped motioning with her head at the rose in Paris' hand and walked slowly closer, taking a hold of her girlfriend's digits when there was barely an inch between them to smell the flower.

"I gathered as much since I didn't arrange for them to be here. Thank you, Rebecca," Paris returned quietly with a loving smile and took both of Rebecca's hands into her own, rose between them.

Taking a shaky breath, Rebecca gazed into Paris' beautiful dark eyes deeply, getting almost lost in their depths and cleared her throat to husk, "You had an immediate effect on me when we met and that hasn't changed one bit during all these months. Your allure became ever stronger and I fell for you hard in no time. I am still crazy in love with you… I love you from the bottom of my heart and more than I can put into words on my own. I don't really remember my life before you anymore and I can't imagine it without you in it. Which is why… I want to ask you..." Rebecca got down on one knee, fishing for the little box, opening it to hold it up and gazed up at her beautiful lover with happy tears in her eyes. "Paris, will you marry me?"

Tears of joy spilling over, Paris looked from Rebecca's beautiful face to the ring and back. It was flat like her other ring, silver with a black inlay to about halfway along either side of the ring and a heart-shaped diamond embedded at the top which was exactly the right thing for Paris. Swallowing hard, Paris kneeled down as well, dropping the rose, pulled the box from her back pocket, opened it and held it out for Rebecca as well.

"Only if you'll marry me, Becca," Paris countered hoarsely, chin trembling from her overflowing emotions. "I love you with all my heart. I am still as madly in love with you as the moment I laid eyes on you. Even if you hadn't had the need to feel passion or wanted to know what an orgasm feels like, I would have pursued you because you're all I ever wanted. I had resigned myself to a lonely life because I was too shy until you made me the bravest woman in the world." The tears of happiness streaming down Rebecca's cheeks were beautiful to watch and Paris continued to rasp, "I can't… I don't want to live without you anymore which is why I do want to marry you, Becca."

Tearing her eyes from Paris', Rebecca looked down at the flat silver ring split in half at the top, the pointy ends slitted onto each other with two diamonds nestled in each slot and she loved the simple but elegant design. "Yes, I do want to marry you, Paris," Rebecca answered and they both moved in to capture each other's mouths in a slow, sensual tongue play, letting their curious muscles tangle and stroke, mold and glide around the other woman's languidly for long moments.

Foreheads touching, they breathed deeply to calm down before they took the ring they had gotten from its cushion, discarding the boxes. With trembling hands, Rebecca put the ring on Paris' left ring finger, her young lover doing the same with her with hands just as shaky. Each of them admiring the beautiful jewelry for a while, they then gazed at their fiancée full of love, arms wrapping around each other tightly to hold their woman close. They nuzzled their lover's neck gently, breathing her in and just enjoying their closeness and letting the knowledge sink in that they were engaged.

"I thought your little bout of insecurity at the beginning there was really cute," Paris mumbled against Rebecca's neck and felt her shiver.

Knowing it was of no use to deny it, Rebecca just grinned, stroking Paris' back with tender hands before she cupped her head to gaze at her with a loving smile. "My beautiful fiancée…"

With a loving smile of her own, Paris got lost in Rebecca's deep blue eyes. "My… breathtaking fiancée…," she reciprocated and watched Rebecca tilt her head with a cocky smile which was just sexy before she leaned in to kiss her lover deeply, tongues tangling languidly.

Afraid that it would escalate too quickly if she gave in, Rebecca pulled back reluctantly, stroking the back of Paris' head with a gentle hand. "I am sorry to do this but we should get the groceries and so on before we do anything else… not that they freeze overnight and we can gnaw on popsicled bread and jam in the morning."

"You are right as usual, my Becca," Paris agreed with a short peck to her beautiful lips and they got back up, helping each other up.

To be continued...
