“We should go out.”
“What?” Zatanna, who was trying to feed Zachary baby food, looks up at John.
“I said,” John replies, turning away from the stove and facing her, “We should go out.”
Zatanna nudges her head towards Zach, who is now trying to shove a whole strawberry into his mouth, “But we just went out last week, after my show.”
“Not all three of us love,” John says, a smirk forming at his lips, “Just me and you, like old times.”
Zatanna blushes at his words. ‘Old times’ were what they considered the time before they knew they were going to be parents, before even the JLD, when they were just smitten young adults living recklessly and in love.
“I’ll ask Diana if she can watch Zach. How does tomorrow night sound?”
“Perfect love,” John says, smiling at her.

John is waiting downstairs, his hair neatly combed and he’s wearing one of his old suits that he knows Zee loves, when Zatanna walks down the stairs. She’s wearing a spaghetti strap floor length dress, dark blue with black lace flowers all over it and she looks like the closet thing to a goddess that John has ever seen.
He whistles at the sight of her and she laughs. “You don’t look to bad yourself,” Zatanna says, walking up to him and wrapping her arms around his neck. He pulls her close, arms wrapped around her waist, and presses a kiss to her forehead. Zatanna smiles, “So where are we going tonight?”
“Wait and see,” John says, pulling her out the door and into the night.

“So this kid has magic powers?” Cassie asks, intrigued.
“Yup, remember my friend Zatanna? You met her at last year’s Holiday party.” Diana replies, picking up Zach from where he was sitting on the floor and bouncing him on her lap. He warmed up too the wonder-women surprisingly quickly and was now all smiles and giggles.
Recognition appears on Cassie’s face, “Oh! I didn’t know she had a baby with that british guy that annoyed Batman.” She hands a teddy bear to Zach, who takes it with open arms. “He’s a cute little kiddo,” she says smiling.

Zatanna hadn’t realized how much she missed nights like these, where it felt like the rest of the world didn’t matter and it was just the two of them. John and her were standing outside of the restaurant he had taken her too, him smoking a silk cut while she rested her head on his shoulder.
“Thank you,” she said, looking up at him with a smile. John turns his head to look at her. “For what?”
“Just, for thinking of this. I love our baby, but I get nostalgic for the past sometimes.” John pulls her closer to him, “I understand. Besides, its been a while since you and I dressed up for each other, hasn’t it?” Zatanna sighs with content, “Yeah, yeah it has.”

After a few more hours of dancing and lovingly flirting, the couple picked up their son and returned to Shadowcrest. John had just finished putting Zachary to bed when Zatanna grabbed him by the hand and pulled him into their bedroom. “Something wrong love?” John said with concern coating his voice as Zatanna laid down on the bed.
Zatanna had a glimmer of lust and mischief in her eyes, “You forgot something. Remember what we tended to do after dates?” When the realization of what she was suggesting hit him, John smirked. “Oh how could I forget? Its what caused the little one down the hall, after all,” He said, the happy memories coming back to the both of them for the rest of the night.
