This novel does not fit the classical definition of a story, especially not one of the sci-fi/fantasy genre: it contains very few plot twists, no war, no big bad to face, no government agency to hide from, no epic climax. Neither is it a typical romance novel: no will-they-won't-they, no Woe is me! I can't decide which beautiful woman to go on a tropical vacation with! Whatever is a girl to do?, no cattiness or artificial drama and relatively little drama overall, and while I let my characters make their own choices, I don’t anticipate any breakups. Subclasses is simply light-hearted, feel-good, fun and erotic romance—both kinky and vanilla—with elements of BDSM, magic (a medium-hard magic system), mind-control, geeky and snarky humor, and—of all things—computer science.
And while I hope this story is enjoyable to every sex-positive person, transgender women are in for an extra special treat.
