Summary
After the absolute disaster that was 50s Cap and Bucky, the US Government figures out they can't just leave the title open. So they start officially paying someone to do it again.
Naturally, when the Avengers form the Government finds a way to get their man in on it. No one really has a problem with him. He plays the part well for the public, handles well enough in combat, and mostly keeps to himself. Everything changes when a trip to the Arctic Ocean turns up something shocking: the Original Captain America.
Now, both Caps are officially part of the Avengers, and neither is quite sure they trust the other.

Bucky, Jeff and Knuckles are held in Hydra base. After many escape attempts, they start to lose hope, only for the newly formed Avengers to break in and get them out. Now they have to figure out how to navigate a modern life with old fashioned sensibilities and broken, morphed bodies.
In this version, the Avengers form before "Breakout". Just minus the Hulk. Don't worry, though. He'll appear in later chapters.

The opening of the National Heroes Museum was bound to be painful, in Jim's opinion. It was hard to look back on his beginning without it. But when an unexpected death leads to the Invaders having to figure out the reason behind it, he finds that there's no other choice.

This fic incorperates elements from the MCU and the comics to create the story of the Invaders, the Avengers before the Avengers. It is loosely based of of the Invader's Marvel Comics set during WW2. This is a post-war interpretation of the team, with some roster changes to better fit the MCU.

Muggers know to steer clear of his fists as he brings his own justice to the criminals. When his partner Betty asks for his help with a murder case he wonders just what he's getting himself into & whether he can trust the police captain.
Together they work to uncover the truth.
