So, Vladimir and Matt are apparently soulmates. Claire thinks that Matt deserves better, and Vladimir is a sarcastic, begrudging little shit. Both men grieve in their own right, and eventually try to come to terms with their new roles. Matt is still a vigilante, and Vladimir is still a mobster, but compromises have to be made– voluntarily or not. Unfortunately, neither man believes in compromising his beliefs, or his lifestyle, for the other.
The Universe doesn't have anything against bitchslapping the people who doubt her plans.

“It’s open, fool.” Said Vladimir. He sounded exhausted, a man resigned to his fate. Matt opened the door, smelling antiseptic and hearing Vladimir aspirate a syringe. He was sitting on the corner of the tub, his trousers and shirt folded in the corner.
“You know, yes?” Vladimir said. It wasn’t damning, or accusing. Not a death sentence, just a question. Matt hesitated, licking his lips.
“Yes.”
Vladimir is transgender. Matt loves him. Everything's good.

Having left Vladimir Ranskahov to die in the tunnels, Matt had gone on to track down Leland Owlsley, and inevitably, Wilson Fisk himself; what he hadn’t expected to find in that warehouse, however, was Nobu.
Injured, bleeding profusely, and more dead than alive, Matt staggered his way to his apartment, only vaguely registering the scent of vodka, cologne, and stale cigarette smoke that he had come to associate with the Russian he had thought dead before he hit the floor of his living room.

Vladimir sighed into Anatoly’s hair and tightened his grip around him. Any normal person would’ve drawn away from the subject of their unholy thoughts, but there were a handful of reasons to why he didn’t. Not only was the sharing of body heat crucial to their survival, but sleeping like this, embracing his brother, breathing in synch… it was the closest thing he would get to what he truly wanted. He could allow himself that much at least.
