Klavier lived by the sea. He had plenty of land to himself and was never bothered. He was self-sufficient. His past didn’t matter, his future didn’t matter to anyone but himself. One week out of the month he would venture to the nearest town to play for them, making enough money to get what he couldn’t scavenge or make himself, plus a bit extra for things he wanted rather than needed. It was a charmed life, for certain, but it was lonely.
