Summary
Sonic is totally fine after he returns from the Death Egg and the war is over. Losing his breath and thinking the world isn't real sometimes doesn't mean he isn't fine, not that his friends would understand that. Besides, flowers usually make him feel all better, so it isn't even that bad!
Shadow catches on, though, and he's surprisingly... helpful with the flowers thing. Even when he doesn't need to be.
Now if only he'd stop acting like something is wrong. After all, Sonic is fine

Summary
Shortly after the reported death of Sonic the Hedgehog, Agent Shadow disappeared during an active mission.
Only static followed. No recovery signal detected. No remains located. Agent Shadow was MIA.
Following Sonic the Hedgehog’s reappearance, the Ultimate Lifeform did not resurface. Subsequent actions by the Eggman Empire resulted in the dismantling of G.U.N. infrastructure, so all remaining mission records, tracking data, and archival references to Agent Shadow’s last known position were lost or rendered inaccessible. Search operations continued independently, thanks to the efforts of the Resistance... Done by the people who, above all else, think of him as their friend. When all known bases and active battlefields were cleared with no results, those closest to him began to suspect the worst.
That all changed on the final day of the war. Coinciding with the defeat of Dr. Eggman and the neutralization of Infinite... Shadow the Hedgehog was found.
...He smelt of flowers.

Tails had seen how Sonic reacted to Infinite’s reappearance. The way his breathing hitched, the way his usually strong legs shook like they were trying to keep him from running away even more than they were trying to keep him upright. Tails wasn’t great at reading people — never had much experience with people at all when he was younger — but he knew his kid. And he knew that he wouldn’t die happy until he’d personally mauled the jackal’s face into a fine paste for whatever he’d done to Sonic.
Later, though. First he had to get Sonic out of the path of danger. 'Later' never came.

Sixteen-year-old Miles "Tails" Prower throws himself into Null Space so that eight-year-old Sonic the Hedgehog doesn’t have to. Two weeks pass, and he’s freed. Only issue is that it’s by now sixteen-year-old Sonic.
Tails doesn’t mind being back. He doesn’t mind that the people he loved are now seven to eight years older than they should be. The only thing he does mind is that he can’t readjust to it as quickly as they deserve.

Four months after the War ended, Sonic finds himself waking up in Tails' bed without much memory of the prior night. He discovers that, thanks to Rouge, he and Shadow finally spent a night together, after circling one another for years. The pair can finally be honest with themselves and each other, admitting and commiting to the feelings they've harbored for so long. Just as soon as Sonic admits to Shadow that he remembers nothing of their first night together, that is.
Meanwhile, the Doctor is digging up ancient evils again. The team understands the stakes too late and Sonic is once again separated from them. Shadow and team must recover him once again while dealing with a menagerie of threats, chief of whom seems not to be ancient, but very much modern. Sage, Dr. Robotnik's fully autonomous generalized artificial intelligence agent, is rapidly gaining strength, influence, and complexity. Faced with a foe without a body to destroy, will the team be able to save the planet before it is too late?

A canon divergence story starting after the events of IDW’s Sonic the Hedgehog issue #56. Surge, wakes up in a hospital bed, she is Tenrec with greenish-yellow quills, black marking, and a bio-mechincal battle android, or Bionicle of sorts, remade by the mad scientist, Doctor Starline.
With no memory of who she was before this life, and no one she’d call a friend to be by her side. The only question now is whether she'll become a Black-Hearted villain or Brave-Hearted Hero.
Disclaimer: This is a Disco Elysium crossover fic with Surge having the Skills in her head, but it’s more of an Sonic the Hegehog IDW fic. So there's no Pale, it doesn't take place on Elysium, and I have no plans for Harry or Kim to make an appearance.
This fic will also have more minor AU elements that don’t pertain to Surge but exist to flesh out the world.
If you don't know what Disco Elysium is: It's a game about playing as a schizophrenic amnesiac with 20 voices in your head that act as rpg skills, also if you haven't played it you should. -
