Bookmarker's Notes
KID FIC — A kid fic set in an alternate universe. In this universe Steve and Peggy have a child named Peter — who gets abducted and frozen like he was. This Peter is later found and thawed at one of Hydra’s many secret bases, and gets put into Tony’s care.
THOUGHTS — A nice sweet little fic. Not much else to say about it. There’s some really weird writing choices that bugged me at first — mainly the lapslock “i”s but it didn’t bother be so much at the end. I think the uniqueness of the plot made up for it (there lots of kid fics out there but I don’t think I’ve seen one quite like this, so I wanted to see how the author would pull it off.)
The writing is fairly fast paced, although it did slow down significant at the appropriate times. If you’re not overly picky about the I-thing or the few grammatical or spelling errors, this should work itself out as a pretty pleasant read for you.
There were times when the obfuscation seemed a bit overdone, but it’s short enough that it almost didn’t matter. One more thing though, I wouldn’t necessarily recommend this if you’re looking for a Stony fic. This is a kid fic through and through (Instead, this kinda works out if you’re looking for a kid fic and not so interested in the Stony.)
1ST REREAD THOUGHTS — Same feelings as better really. I found the whole hiding who Peter really is overly dramatic, and everything proceeding that just as much so. It’s a very character driven fic that had a lot of potential to be character driven. But, ultimately, because of the super-fast pacing, things just seem too easily fixed — emphasizing the whole drama aspect.
It’s a sweet fic tho, don’t get me wrong. I think the premise is really interesting, and I would definitely want to see a more in-depth look at the elements introduced here.
