Summary
John Constantine comes to Gotham chasing work and stays when winter closes in and the Amusement Mile offers shelter without questions. The Joker finds him amusing, then useful, then familiar, and allows the arrangement to continue through drinking, magic, normalized violence, and the occasional harmless miracle that wanders through and leaves again. This is not redemption or romance, but it works, and John knows better than to mistake that for safety.

But the thing about magic, mate, is that it has a price. It always has a price and there is no one else to pay it, but him. The only thing you can ask, or rather, beg for, is that it leaves you with just enough to stand up and heal.

The good thing is sometimes a curse makes you stronger. And sometimes, or rather a lot of times for John, a curse is a child in need of help.or
In which: Constantine adopts a little monster, Bruce works on his parenting skills, Zatanna saves the world and Jason Todd gets promoted.
