The little device had consumed their life for the past week, and the dead end they’d hit two days ago had motivated them to do the impossible. Voluntarily visit that cell. You would think that regular visits with the criminals, who had been nothing but charismatic and polite(ish), would have allowed the two parties to build up a sort of friendly rapport. Just the opposite. Lyf hated them.

Lyfrassir was the sole survivor of their solar system's destruction at the hand of Yog-Sothoth, dragged from their status of "mortal" without any say. The scars left on them are deep, and the guilt a deep-seated infection.
Mialma had spent millennia serving a tyrant before being freed from her spells. He's ensured her death, but reclaiming himself is a much harder process.

Hair was a big part of culture in the Yggdrasil system, back while it still existed. This includes the type of hairstyles you wore, what kind of things you used to tie your hair with, and who helped you do your hair.
You would expect the culture of a system to completely die once the system gets ripped apart by eldritch horrors. But one Lyfrassir Edda wasn’t going to let it die so easily. Especially when they have to raise a child alongside the most annoying immortal space pirates in the known galaxy.

Lyfrassir had taken a part in raising Jon. Teaching him many (legal) things as he got older. Jon learned how to speak to people professionally, how to quickly get information, and…YggdrasilIan hair culture? Yes.
So put Jon, who is used to abiding by the hair culture of Auncle Lyf (Now, Renny Lyf!) with people who were raised on earth, by normal humans. Oh, and he so happens to have a crush on one of them.
