Innocent tsks and pushes his zucchetto off to the floor with one swift movement.
"None of that now." His hand moves further back to grasp a fistful of Ray's hair. Ray gasps quietly and moves with it, his head falling back onto his shoulders. “Would you like to?”

Summary
It’s supposed to be proper. Holy. The Probatio Spirituum had been spoken of in hushed tones all his life, a relic of a Church older than reason, older than mercy. A test of worth, they call it. Proof that a man could stand before both God and devil and not be found wanting.
And yet, watching Thomas now—his head snapping to the side as if struck, his chest heaving like a man drowning—Aldo could not keep the doubt from creeping in.

Summary
The silk is unlike anything she’s ever owned—rich as a sapphire, yet softer than water, flowing easily over her fingers when she lifts the hem. It has none of the stiff scratchiness of the lace bralettes she used to steal from her sister’s drawer as a teenager; instead, it seems to melt into her, as if it already knows the shape it’s meant to take.
Her skin is pale, almost milky white, against the deep sheen of the fabric, and Tommy trails a hand over the bodice-like top where it lies against her chest. Warm hands press into her back, startling her.
