Castiel tensed at the stubbornness in Claire's voice. He had thought his and Dean's past discussions about Amelia with Claire were enough, but evidently they were not. He recognized the steely expression Claire wore. He knew that Claire had built up the courage to come to Castiel and ask about it. He also knew that Claire had come to him alone for a reason, and not him and Dean.
“What would you like to talk about?”

Summary
Castiel moves into his cabin on February 20. It's secluded, just as Castiel prefers. He spends a whole month in utter solitude until a man starts appearing. Castiel takes a quick liking to Dean, but there's something odd about him. He never talks about his home or family. He knows very little about common things, but he knows more than enough about flowers. It's endearing and strange and Castiel might be in love with him.
After a spring and summer full of fun and adventure, Dean's health takes a decline. Dean assures Castiel that he's fine, and Castiel believes him.
After all, why would Dean lie?

“Castiel, would you be interested in tutoring?”
Castiel tilted his head. Out of all the things Mrs. Harvelle could have asked him about, he hadn’t been expecting it to be tutoring. Castiel wasn’t exactly a “people person.”
“You want me to tutor?”
“You’re my top student.” she replied bluntly. “I think you would be an excellent tutor. This would also be a great way for you to get community service hours.”
Well, community service hours were required, so it wasn’t like Castiel had much choice if he wanted to graduate on time.
“Okay.”
Mrs. Harvelle grinned. “I’ll let Dean know. He’s a bright student, but he struggles with math. I know that with your help, he’ll improve greatly.”
Castiel felt his blood freeze in his veins. “Wait, Dean Winchester?”
“Yes,” she said. “Do you know him?”
Oh, Castiel knew Dean Winchester. Like Castiel, Dean was a senior. Unlike Castiel, Dean was delightful and funny and very popular. He was always smiling and being infuriatingly gorgeous. He had all the teachers charmed. Almost everybody loved him.
Almost.
Dean Winchester was a jock, and Castiel hated him.
