Summary
It can’t end like this. Atsushi has mere minutes left, maybe less, and he can’t die listening to Akutagwa’s scolding and insults. Comfort has never come easily to Akutagwa, but he has to try. Atsushi deserves that much, at least.
But Akutagawa can’t think of what to say. He can’t tell Atsushi that it’s fine, that he’ll be okay, or any of those trite, hollow reassurances. It’s not okay, and perhaps it never will be again — not without Atsushi.
In his last moments, bloody and painful though they are, Atsushi deserves better than lies. So Akutagawa instead settles on the deepest truth he knows. Perhaps, here and now, the only truth.
“You can’t die, you useless overgrown cat,” Akutagawa snarls, half-choking on a sob. “I love you, so you can’t die. Not when I love you.”
Thinking Atsushi is dying in his arms, Akutagawa confesses his love, knowing he’ll never have another chance.
But of course Atsushi, always the thorn in Akutagawa’s side, does something wholly unexpected.
He survives.

“‘Samu, ya look weird,” Atsumu says, eyebrows raised. “Wait, were ya guys makin’ ou—”
Before Atsumu can finish his sentence, Osamu lunges at him, one fist raised and the other bunched up in Atsumu’s shirt.
The glint in his eyes is murderous, nothing like the open and curious look from earlier.
Atsumu throws his arms in the air, eyes wide and all traces of mockery gone. “Wait, wait, wait, ‘Samu, I haven’t said anything!”
Quite satisfyingly so, Osamu’s fist connects with the side of Atsumu’s face.
Five times Osamu almost kisses Rintarou and is interrupted by his nuisance of a brother Atsumu; that one time Rintarou wishes Osamu would kiss him; and the one time Rintarou kisses Osamu. (+Birthday bonus)

Kenma waves a hand dismissively. “It’s about romance, something about studying new couples. Not relevant to you.”
“It might be!” Hinata insists on instinct.
“It’s not,” Atsumu pipes up. “All I know is, ya don’t have anyone.”
“I do too,” Hinata protests, the broad outlines of a plan forming in his mind. It’s not more than a rough few mission statements, but he’s done crazier things with less reason. “We started dating like, three weeks ago, and we wanted to keep it a secret because it’s so new... and you know him.”----
Or, Hinata and Kageyama need money. The quickest way to get it is participating in Kuroo and Oikawa's study about relationships. Too bad neither of them are in one.

“You have,” Kageyama says. He reaches out and tugs Shouyou’s hair. “Your hair’s short.”
“And I’m taller,” Shouyou says.
Kageyama shrugs. “I’m also taller,” he says, “so it doesn’t matter.”
Shouyou wants Kageyama to win. Furiously. Almost as much as he wants to win. He would move heaven and earth for it. He is greedy enough to eat the world, but he would still leave some for Kageyama.
But he doesn’t want Kageyama to beat him. “You’re such an asshole,” he says. “I hate you so much.”

When he was really upset, his ojiichan would take him out to the mikan tree and they would pass a ball back and forth. They had a good system—Tobio only had to talk when he had the ball, and his grandfather would answer when it was his turn.
The worst thing about his grandfather dying was that all Tobio wanted to do was take a volleyball out under the mikan tree and talk to him about it.
Instead he was here, in a stupid suit, and he would never play volleyball with his grandfather again.

The thing is, hanahaki is an emotional disease.

It’s a gradual build-up over long periods of time, creeping and growing until it can’t be denied anymore. Until it just is. It sits there, proud and shiny, as a fact of life.
Even when Ouma-kun is being an asshole to everyone around him, even when Ouma-kun is lying through his teeth just because he can, even when Ouma-kun holds a fundamentally different point of view to him and they get into arguments, Shuichi still can’t imagine spending his life with another person by his side.
