Work Text:

It took Jungkook one month to speak directly to Taehyung without looking at his hands or becoming a stuttering mess. It took Jungkook two month to hug the older one back. It took Jungkook three months to admit to Yoongi that he, indeed, has a crush.

And it took Tae exactly four and a half months to ask Jungkook out on a date, to which the younger replied as a blushing and stuttering mess with a small: “Yes, I’d like to go out with you.”

It now has been five days since Taehyung finally asked the younger male to the said date and that Saturday it was finally time for it. They both decided that Tae would be at Jungkook’s and Yoongi’s apartment at seven and then they would find a nice restaurant to eat.

Tae may or may not have spent hours looking through restaurants and their ratings and tried to find the perfect spot for his first date with the raven haired cutie. He may or may not has also dragged his best friends Jimin and Hoseok to at least three of the best reviewed ones and tried some food out of the menu to finally deciding to go to a nice Japanese restaurant some blocks away from a nice park.

The idea he had in mind was to bring Jungkook to the restaurant, pay (of course, he was a gentleman) and maybe taking a romantic walk through the park at night. Maybe he would even be brave enough to steal a kiss from the younger. But if not, it would be okay too, since he didn’t want to rush anything.

He knew that Jeon Jungkook was a quiet and sometimes even shy boy. They met through their friends, Hoseok and Jimin being in the same dance group as the younger and one faithful day the two dragged him to a met-up with their other friends where he first met Jungkook.

On said meet-up there were also his two older friends Jin and Namjoon who apparently were friends with Jungkook too, even though Tae never knew that before, he always thought that them five were the closest. But turns out that Jin knew Jungkook even before he did know Taehyung, since they were neighbours when they were younger and Jin basically babied Jungkook as much as he could.

On that day Taehyung also first met Min Yoongi, who is older than Namjoon but younger than Jin, could be really grumpy sometimes, had the ultimate resting bitch face and was also Jungkook’s best friend and roommate.

Taehyung remembered exactly what his first encounter with the two was. He and his four other friends were already sitting at the karaoke booth, Jimin and Hobi had reserved, and waited for the two friends of them to arrive. It was only three minutes after the time they decided to meet up and Taehyung had been really excited to see what those two looked like. Jimin had been talking non-stop about Jungkookie and he also told Tae that he may have a crush on Kookie’s best friend. Yes, to say that Tae was a little bit curious would be an understatement.

The two entered their booth, both with nice smiles on their faces and Tae’s eyes immediately snapped up to look at them. He first noticed the smaller one of the two, with his extravagant mint green hair. Then he noticed the other one, the raven haired one with those big doe eyes and the bunny smile as he greeted Jimin.

Taehyung didn’t believe in love at first sight but he believed in crush at first sight.

And this definitely was one of those.

Taehyung is a social butterfly, but getting closer to Jungkook was really hard. Not that the younger one didn’t like him or anything (most of the times, he laughed when Tae told a story) but he was really, really shy and didn’t respond to the skinship Tae initiated.

Taehyung didn’t mind. He didn’t want to rush things and he wanted Jungkook to be comfortable around him. That’s why he waited all the time, until the last Sunday, where he just walked Jungkook home after his dance practice ended and asked him out.

And he said yes.

In that moment, Jungkook blushing furiously and accepting he was so happy, he could have kissed the younger. He didn’t though, but smiled as bright as the sun and hugged him tightly, whispering a quiet “I am so happy” into his ear, which made the younger blush even more.

Now today was their big date and Taehyung spent at least two hours getting ready with the help of his two best friends, who kept teasing him about his big little crush.

He endured the teasing, just because it was true, he had a massive crush on his Jungkookie and left too early to be exactly on time to get the younger.

But during the time, where Jimin and Hoseok teased him while he got ready, there was a entirely different situation happening a few blocks away in the Sugakookie apartment…

***

Jungkook first told his best friend about the date ten minutes after Taehyung asked him.

After his really embarrassing, stuttering reply he went inside the building, pressing the elevator button to the fifth floor and went to their shared apartment. He unlocked the door, went inside, locked the door again and just stood there for some minutes back pressed against the cold, wooden door.

Trying to recover from the situation, trying to slow down his fast beating heart and obviously trying to stop the blush that was still on his cheeks.

Yoongi though, was in the living room at that time, hearing the younger enter but never seeing him going through the hallway. He waited for some minutes, still no Jungkook, before lazily getting up to look at the door. Maybe his best friend fainted or something.

He found him with dreaming eyes and a small, but really sweet smile and a slight blush on his cheeks.

He didn’t even had to ask what happened, because a second after the raven haired saw him, he already told him the whole story.

And yes, even though Yoongi was most of the time emotionless, when it involves Jungkook he was the most overprotective and supportive friend there was. He wasn’t like that for anyone else (well, maybe for his own crush, Jimin).

It didn’t take long and soon the self-proclaimed parents of Jungkook, Jin and Namjoon, knew about the date and about five hours before the date should start, the couple stood outside the apartment and demanded to take Jungkook and Yoongi to a shopping mall.

And there they were. After a small lunch they finally found a shop to buy new cloths.

“Seriously guys, I don’t need something new”, said Jungkook for the nth time, but nobody listened. He thought that maybe Yoongi could convince the couple that it was unnecessary but even his best friend chimed in with the idea and was really into it.

“Of course you do, eomma and appa’ll treat you, baby”, cooed Jin and pinched his cheek, before dragging him to the men’s section. Jungkook rolled his eyes at the nicknames.

“Free cloths, Kookie”, chirped Yoongi and laughed behind him, already fishing out some pieces. “Also, this is your first real date since you started college and it’s with the guy you like, so you’re not allowed to only wear your boring white shirts and some Timberlands.”

“He’s right”, agreed Namjoon and wiggled his eyebrows. “Also, I really like Tae and he should think that you made an effort for this date so that you maybe go on another.”

“Sometimes I hate you guys.”

“Yeah, whatever you say, our small, precious princess.”

Jungkook rolled his eyes but smiled a little. Good, yeah, he wanted to maybe go on another date with Taehyung, even though their first one didn’t even happen… yet. That’s why he let the three older man pick out different pants, shirts and even shoes.

And you could see what each of their preferences were:

Jin picked out some various shirts in pastel colours, but most of them were a babypink or a really light violet. He also almost only picked light colours jeans and trousers.

Yoongi had three different pairs of black jeans draped over his arm and at least five different T-shirts in darker colours, dark red, dark blue, dark grey. You get the point.

And Namjoon just picked whatever had a cute print or he thought would look good on Jungkook.

Soon enough he was dragged inside a fitting room with the cloths and the command “To show them to us, princess” from his hyungs.

Jungkook just sighed and put on the cloths Jin selected for him first. They all agreed that Jungkook looked cute and fluffy and absolutely adorable. The cloths were in pastel colours and it suited him really well. He looked younger and Jin was head over heels.

“Kookie with that outfit” A baby pink loose shirt and skinny jeans in light grey. “You will make Tae loose his mind. He will droll over you. Hell, I’m drolling and if you wouldn’t be my baby I would totally ask you out. No offence, Joonie.”

“Noted”, said Joonie and grinned at the youngest. “Seriously though, you look like an angle from heaven.”

“It suits you well, Kookie”, also agreed Yoongi, even though he wasn’t that enthusiastic as the other two. “Now try the one I picked for you.”

Jungkook nodded and headed back into the cabin. He undressed himself and took the pieces from Yoongi and put them on. He needed to say, his best friend also had a great fashion sense. The dark red button up and the black skinny jeans with ripped holes looked really good on him, even though it was quite daring for his shy type.

Jungkook walked out of the changing room and stood in front of his friends. All of their mouth dropped.

“What happened to our small, little, cute Kookie?” Jin was the first one to speak and looked at him with big eyes.

Yoongi smiled, pleased with the result. “Hot damn, Jungkook. That’s how you’ll make Taehyung droll.”

“Oh my god, guys” Jungkook blushed and rolled his eyes a little bit. “Stop it.”

“But they’re right”, Namjoon smiled. “You look really good in that. Dark colours make you look like a real adult.”

“Thanks I guess.”

Yoongi sighed relieved and closed his eyes. He crossed his arms in front of his body before he spoke. “I don’t think we need to see any more options. It’s clear that Jungkookie looks best in this one, of course.”

“What? No!” Jin’s voice was a little bit too high-pitched as he turned to the younger and looked at him a little bit pissed. “I think he should take the one that makes him look cute and adorable. He isn’t the badboy type, he’s the small angel.”

“You just want him to take that one, because it’s the one you picked”, replied Yoongi and now looked at Jin directly.

Both of them stared at each other, neither of them blinking. Jungkook shifted from one foot to the other and looked at Namjoon, who just sighed.

He loved his two older friends very much, but Jin and Yoongi could get really passionate and a little bit aggressive from time to time and most of the time it would involve Jungkook. Most of the time it were just little arguments, like one time, when Jungkook just entered college and Jin didn’t want him to go to the frat party but Yoongi wanted him to go. They spent half an hour spitting arguments at each other before agreeing, that Jungkook could go to that party, but with guidance from Jin, Joonie and Yoongi.

That day, his best friend self-proclaimed himself as Kookie’s personal bodyguard (“He scares everyone away with his resting bitch face”, said Namjoon) and Jin became Jungkook’s self-proclaimed mom. Namjoon didn’t even say anything but after that Jin always referred the two of them as “eomma and appa” or “Your parents”. Jungkook didn’t really mind.

“No, I say it, because it looks the best”, said Jin and glared at the smaller one, crossing his legs. Something Jin did when shit was about to go down.

Yoongi coughed. “Right.”

“Right.” Jin hissed. “You just can’t stand the idea, that my outfit looks better on him. Mister Everything-I-do-is-right.”

“What? No, that’s you Mister I-have-the-best-taste-in-fashion-even-though-I-sometimes-don’t”

Jin looked at him shocked and pressed a hand against his heart.

Jungkook looked between the two of them, then back at Namjoon with a scared face. His older friend, and to be honest the most laid back and calm dude he ever knew, looked at him frowning. He too, sighed before sitting up straight, standing up and walking towards the younger.

He pressed his hand on Jungkook’s shoulder, turning him around in one slow move that went unnoticed by the two bickering men on the chairs.

“Come on, I think I have a solution”, he whispered calmly to Jungkook, before he pushed him slowly into the changing room.

“I hate it, when they fight.” Jungkook sighed and looked up to his older friend, who nodded in agreement.

“You know the two of them. They really care about you, otherwise they wouldn’t be like that. You know that Jin is usually the one who breaks up fights and Yoongi’s the one who’s just too tired or unpassionate about it”, Namjoon smiled at him and grabbed a piece of clothing that laid abandoned on the floor.

“I know.” And he loved them for that.

But they could be a handful, too.

“Here” Namjoon handed him some pieces of clothing and smiled at him encouraging. “I think they will both like that.”

“Okay, hyung”, agreed Jungkook and undressed himself. He didn’t mind that the older one didn’t leave the changing room, he was quite comfortable with him in there. Also, he didn’t want to leave Namjoon alone with Jin and Yoongi. He could still hear their arguing (They had proceeded in their ‘conversation’ into not related topics, like the party).

Jungkook first tried on the pants, after that he put on the shirt, Namjoon had gave him. The older helped him putting it on and making it look great. After he finished changing, both smiled at their reflexion in the mirror.

“I think, you are a genius, hyung.”

“Thanks, so I’ve been told”, laughed Namjoon and wiggled his eyebrows. “Now, break the fight, small one. With your wonderful looks and the perfect outfit.”

Jungkook blushed and exited the cabin.

Awkwardly he stood in front of his two friends, who didn’t even look at him for a split second, still to engross in their argument.

“Uhm” Jungkook coughed quietly. “Hyungs?”

That got their attention. Both men’s head snapped around to look at their younger friend, staring at him for some seconds, before both their mouth dropped.

“What do you think, guys?” Namjoon stood beside him, a hand rested on Jungkook’s shoulder.

“That is…”, started Jin.

“I think it’s…”, began Yoongi.

“… perfect!”, said both of them at the same time, whilst looking at the two younger man. Then looking at each other, then both facial expressions turned regretful.

“I’m sorry that I flipped, Hyung”, Yoongi started and sighed.

Jin waved his arms. “No, I am sorry. I think we both went a little over the top.”

“I guess you did”, agreed Namjoon laughing, and Jungkook giggled. “So this outfit is fine?”

He looked down at himself and the cloths Namjoon picked. He wore one of the pastel pink shirts from Jin, one of the black skinny jeans from Yoongi and Namjoon’s addition to his outfit was the great-fitting black blazer.

He loved it. It was maybe a little bit out of his comfort zone, but as Jin said “He shouldn’t just wear a white shirt” so it was fine. He looked good and… for the biggest part why he thought it was great, it would boost his confidence, so that he wouldn’t stutter and blush the whole time during the date.

“This is really great”, told him Jin and smiled while standing up.

Yoongi followed him and stood in front of his best friend, smiling too. “It looks really good on you, Kookie.”

“Thanks, hyungs”, Jungkook blushed. “And thank you, Namjoon hyung.”

“No problem, kiddo.”

Jin laughed and pushed him back into the changing room, to change back so that they could buy the outfit.

In the end they all split the bill, each one paying for their contributed part and Jungkook buying them an ice cream before they went home.

There were still two hours left, so they first settled in Yoongi and Jungkook’s living room, talking about college and work before Jin decided that it was time for Jungkook to take a shower and get ready.

The youngest did exactly that, washed his hair, dried it, putting on the outfit and then returning to his hyungs. All of them cooed when they saw him and Yoongi hugging him, even though he wasn’t the affectionate type of guy.

“Our small one is all grown up, Joonie”, sniffed Jin and snuggled closer to his boyfriend, when Jungkook grabbed his phone and wallet some minutes before eight.

“Oh god, if you cry Jin, I will take away your cookie jar”, grumbled Yoongi, sitting down again and rolling his eyes, even though he smiled.

Jin chuckled. “The real reason why I shouldn’t cry is, because you would too, Yoongs. Look at you best friend, he’s ready to go on his date with his crush and they will probably click and then they will date and marry and get kids and…”

“Shut up, Jin!” Yoongi hissed but still smiled when he turned to his younger best friend. “I am really happy for you, Kookie.”

“Thank you, Yoongi”, replied the younger. “Thanks again, for everything, guys.”

“No problemo”, came the reply from the three guys in the living room, before they all heard the bell.

Jungkook took a deep breath, trying (and failing) to normalize his breath and heartbeat before waving at his friends one last time and finally opening the door.

“Hey Jungkookie”, greeted him a bubbly Taehyung on the other side, looking as gorgeous as usual. “You look amazing.”

“Thank you” The younger one blushed and smiled. “Shall we go?”

“Yes, I hope you’re ready for the best first date and hopefully the last first date you’ll ever have”, Taehyung winked, before holding out his hand, which took Jungkook slowly, blushing at the words of the older. It didn’t matter though, because he hoped it too.

That’s how their first (and also last first) date started.

Cheesy and with three hyungs in the living room, almost crying and cheering the whole time, before the door shut close and they couldn’t hear anything else.

Notes:

Maybe i'm gonna write the date too, but i don't know yet.

Hope you enjoyed.
