"Jiejie!!!" Jiang Cheng almost cried as he sunk into his sister warm embrace.
"A-Cheng hello." She laughed as she hugged him. "I didn't know you missed me this much."
"I always miss you."
"So are you just going to leave us on the outside?" Zixuan spoke up as he held baby Jin Ling in his arms. "Terrible house guest."
"Shut up peacock, you don't know what I'm going through." He pouted as he let the couple inside.
"Right." He replied with a deadpan look as he passed the baby to his brother in law and Jiang Cheng ignored him in favor to coo at his nephew.
"You're such a cute baby A-Ling, you're nothing like your dad."
"Hey!"
"A-Cheng don't be mean to A-Xuan." She scolded lightly as she watched the two interact.
"Hey where's your husband anyway? At least he's nice to me I like him."
"He's only nice to you because he's too polite to be anything else."
"A-Cheng don't be mean." Lan Huan said with a soft smile and went to greet the couple and baby. He had picked Jin Ling and kissed his forehead before passing him back to his mother.
"Where's A-Yi? Is he asleep?" She asked as she adjusted her baby.
"He fell asleep moments ago, I was just putting him in the crib."
Jiang Cheng and Lan Huan had been wanting to adopt a child for some time now and after a lot of thinking, they thought of adopting an older child but the truth is that they wanted to experience everything from the beginning... Maybe one day they'd adopt another child? But then the couple decided on trying their best to adopt a baby.
Perhaps it was a bit too standard and cliché but after they got married, they wanted to start their adventure in parenthood. It took a while for them to get where they were, the adoption process was long and frustrating in many instances but when they finally got the opportunity to pick up their baby, their little Lan Jingyi, it was all worth it.
They started crying once the baby gazed up at him and garbled, while his hand tried to wrap around Lan Huan's finger. It was one of the most heartwarming things they had ever seen, they had just met Jingyi but the baby already had his parents wrapped around his tiny finger.
Around the same time Jiang Yanli got pregnant and had Jin Ling, now the two siblings exchanged tips on caring for babies and how to deal with their husbands.
"How's life with a newborn, A-Cheng?" She asked as they talked on the phone.
"Horrible." Jiang Cheng sighed as he rubbed his temples. "I didn't know a person could cry so much, just make it stop."
"I'm sure the baby'll grow out of it-" She tried to reassure her younger brother before he interrupted.
"Oh no, the baby's an angel!" He exclaimed as he walked to Jingyi's bedroom door. "He's no trouble at all."
"But-" She was about question him but then she heard soft sniffles. For a moment she thought Jiang Cheng was crying but then she heard more carefully...
"I love you so much." It was Lan Huan! "Our little miracle, your baba and I will take good care of you."
Jiang Cheng walked back to the living room, the crying becoming more muffled.
"A-Cheng..." She was at lost of words.
"He won't stop crying jiejie!! What do I do with him?"
He sounded so desperate then and Yanli felt terrible but she couldn't stop the laughter that escaped her lips.
"A-Cheng, oh A-Cheng I'm so sorry." She continued giggling. "I don't know how to help you."
"Jiejie!!!"
He continued rambling about how Lan Huan seemed to have an infinite amount tears as he would start sniffling at random moments. He tried his best to make his husband feel better and stop crying but he had truly been at lost what to do.
Months later the situation was better but sometimes he still...
"He's just so small and precious." Lan Huan continued, his voice starting to tremble. Oh here we go again.
"There, there." Jiang Cheng simply pulled him into a hug and the man cried out.
"I love our son so much!!!"
"I know baby I know."
"We tried really hard so we could have him."
"We did and now he's with us." He said gently as he mouthed an apology at his sister and Zixuan. "So there's no need to be like this, right?"
"Right..." Another sniffle. "I'm sorry."
"You feel better?" He pulled back and wiped Lan Huan's face with his handkerchief.
Jiang Cheng rarely carried them around but after they got their son, he always had one at him. Both his son and husband were too much at times.
"You two are doing a great job." Yanli tried to make Lan Huan feel better, she went and patted him on his head. "How about I go and make us some soup."
"A-Li." The older man now felt embarrassed at the open display of his feelings. "There's no need, you are our guest."
"Nonsense haven't you two told us that this was also our house, so excuse me." She passed the baby to Lan Huan and made her to the kitchen with a smile.
"A-Li is too good for this world." Zixuan mumbled as she watched her go and the other two quietly nodded.
As the men waited for the soup to be ready, Yanli hadn't allowed them to help, they were busy playing with Jin Ling. On the meantime, had Jingyi woken up hungry and after feeding him, he joined Jin Ling. The two of them were too cute together and before they knew it, Yanli was saying that the soup was ready. After placing the babies in the playpen so they wouldn't run out and hurt themselves, they finally sat at the table.
Soft giggles could be heard as the two couples talked and ate. Lan Huan took a moment to observe the scene around him and felt his heart filling with warmth once again, he was truly thankful that he had such a nice family.
