Sniff You Out

Summary:

“Let me get this straight, you want to know if I have something to mask the scent of pregnancy?”

Kaeya stared at Albedo, the two had gone in circles for ten minutes with him refusing to admit why he needed such a concoction in the first place. Albedo was familiar with the fact he was an omega, after all, he was the one Kaeya turned to when it came to suppressants in the past, birth control as well.

Kaeya was reckless, he could blame his work for forgetting to take anything he had asked for. Albedo had scolded him constantly for it but now he just seemed disappointed but ultimately, not surprised. There was only one thing Kaeya refused to disclose, who his alpha was.

“Kaeya perhaps an abortion might be what you’re looking for.” Albedo was scribbling away on some paper he held from Kaeya’s view “Which I’m afraid I can’t perform.”

“Well that’s the problem, I don’t know what to do yet,” Kaeya admitted, unusually sheepish. “My basic instinct tells me to keep this child but the human part of my brain thinks it’s a parasite on my life, to put it bluntly.”

“I can come up with something.” Albedo set his notes aside, walked toward where Kaeya lounged upon the couch in his study “in the meantime I suggest something very simple, the smell of sex to cover it.”

“Right, right, how long will you take exactly?”

“A week, give or take a few days but with Sucrose’s help it may be quicker, she will prioritize you.”

Kaeya could live with that. Diluc had the nose of a dog, his senses were sharp but Kaeya’s wit was sharper. It would be easy enough to explain his avoidance of Diluc the past few days, complain of his work as usual and he wouldn’t suspect much of it. The two weren’t clingy anyway, there was no guarantee Diluc would even care about his omega’s absence.

Still, Kaeya’s nerves kept him on edge. He kept his secrets close, always had, he didn’t want Diluc to know until he was sure of what he wanted to do, while it was no secret like the one he kept growing up it was still life-changing. Their core instincts always told them to breed, that Kaeya must be full of pups and Diluc would devote his life to his family, to their safety. Their human instinct however told them differently, it kept them grounded, despite their slip-ups.

Kaeya found himself drawn to Angel’s Share, not for a drink but rather his alpha. His pregnancy left him with the overwhelming desire to just be close to the man as if their child knew who their father was. Diluc could only acknowledge his entrance with a glance. Unusually busy for a Monday evening, the tavern held knights and adventures alike. Kaeya took a seat in the corner, swooping up the empty table before someone else could. His wait to be served gave him time to think of an excuse if Diluc were to question his non-alcoholic drink choice.

With the number of people inside, Kaeya hoped the swirl of scents would be enough to cover his own. Diluc could sniff him out in a crowd of thousands but not with his current condition, the scent was new, unfamiliar.

Diluc, knowing Kaeya far too well, had found a moment of peace and walked a glass of wine to his table without saying a word. Kaeya could only laugh awkwardly.

“Ah I’d just hate to be a bother but could I get some wolfhook juice?”

“Wolfhook juice, you?” Diluc’s voice was accusatory. Never before had Kaeya ordered anything nonalcoholic, not in his tavern “what are you up to Kaeya?”

“Nothing.” He hummed “Can’t a guy just have a craving for something else?” He winced at his word choice, he hadn’t experienced cravings yet but if Diluc was clever, and he was, he’d take it as some sort of sign.

Perhaps he did. He simply nodded, no longer feeling argumentative. His juice took some time but once it was delivered Diluc lingered a bit too long. Kaeya knew what he was doing, trying to sniff him out, he turned himself toward the wall to hide his non-existent bump as he sipped his drink.

“Stay after we close,” Diluc ordered, turning on his heel and returning to his bar before Kaeya could protest

The rowdy patrons of Angel’s Share did not bother Kaeya too much, he was able to make conversation with some of the visiting knights. Diluc’s stare was intimidating, the alpha always kept watch on Kaeya, whether he realized it or not. The threatening aura of any alpha was enough to make those around cower, Diluc was unmatched in every way, especially under his roof. His patrons certainly behaved when he was about, every omega in his space was to be respected, including Kaeya.

The captain himself was growing anxious as the night came to an end, Angel’s Share slowly emptying of customers. Diluc, as if eager to have Kaeya to himself, closed early once the last group had left, locking the door behind them.

“Kaeya.” His voice was rough, it quickly drew his mate’s attention. “Where have you been?”

“Ah, did you miss me Master Diluc? Work, I am still a servant to those of Mondstadt after all.” Kaeya quipped.

Diluc growled, approaching the man where he had been seated all night. He noticed then that only half of his wolfhook juice glass was drunk in those hours. He pulled at Kaeya’s collar, nose nuzzling into the claimed mark upon his neck before biting over it, earning a yelp in response.

“You smell like someone else.” So close to Kaeya he could hear his breath hitch, how he swallowed nervously. “That alchemist you’re so fond of, why?”

Diluc had never known himself to be the jealous type, nor was he particularly possessive over Kaeya but there was something there, something messing with his head. He knew Kaeya greatly admired Albedo and found him handsome.

“It was nothing, you know I am yours.” All Kaeya could think of at the moment was Albedo’s advice to him, cover the scent with sex. Diluc was a step away from finding out, Kaeya wasn’t going to let him. “Alpha.”

His words made Diluc feral. One way or another his alpha was going to prove that he belonged to him. He was too quick in his movements, the chair Kaeya was seated in toppled over as Diluc ravaged him in a hungry kiss. The cryo user understood then, Diluc wasn’t close to rut. He was possessive, his position as Kaeya’s mate felt threatened.

Worry crossed Kaeya’s mind for the baby, that Diluc may accidentally hurt them. He knew his mate like the back of his hand, Diluc could be rough, especially in moments of passion. As a pyro vision holder, it only fueled his desire.

“Mine.” Diluc snarled in his ear, if Albedo was getting close enough to Kaeya for his scent to linger then he would be sure that next time Kaeya was marked as his own. His instincts clouded his mind completely.

With a grunt of annoyance, he tore off Kaeya’s fur cloak and its accessories. His mate did not move beneath him, nothing but a chirp of surprise from his lips as Diluc made haste with his clothing, as well as his own. He was unusually clumsy, no one would ever be caught seeing Diluc in such a way but Kaeya. Diluc himself saw no need to strip completely, simply easing the added weight of his coat and undoing his pants. Kaeya lay beneath him, undershirt ripped open and pants, finally freed from his belts, pulled down his legs.

His gloved hands found their way to Kaeya’s chest, running his thumbs over his puffy nipples, causing him to squirm. Diluc admired his omega, Kaeya had always been beautiful, he could admit that much to himself. With one hand toying with his breast, another trailed down his stomach, feeling the slick between Kaeya’s thighs was enough to make Diluc’s stomach burn.

He hoisted Kaeya up by his thighs, grip tight enough to leave hot red marks upon the skin, guiding long, tanned legs to wrap around his waist and steadying himself by planting his hands on either side of him. Diluc’s cock large and ready to breed, he barely noticed Kaeya’s look of worry as he pushed inside the wet entrance.

Kaeya’s hole fit Diluc perfectly, it always welcomed his alpha. Despite the pregnancy, he gasped in delight at the feeling of once again being full of his alpha’s cock. “Gods Diluc, did you get bigger?” He huffed, his hands grabbing hold of Diluc’s arms.

“Or maybe Albedo is just smaller.” Diluc bit at his ear, his jealousy taking hold of him as he spoke. It earned him a laugh from Kaeya, quickly interrupted by a sharp moan as Diluc rocked his hips against him.

“I told you,  oh fuck right there , it was nothing.” With the closeness, and his belly exposed, Kaeya’s mind was still half on his condition, if Diluc would catch on. They had been in a similar position the night Kaeya got pregnant, Diluc much too impatient had fucked him on the floor of Angel’s Share once before.

“You’re mine Kae, if I have to fill you with pups to prove it, I fucking will.” Diluc lost himself, swimming in a pool of his instincts and hormones. His words certainly earned a reaction from Kaeya, who cried out at the thought, pulling him closer with his legs. “You want that darling?”

“Diluc-“ Kaeya’s eyes fluttered closed, head lolling to the side to show off his mate’s claiming mark on his neck.” Ah,  please-“

Diluc latched on, teeth sinking into his neck.

Had it not been for his hormones, Kaeya may have felt the pain of it all. His alpha’s wants had affected him the way they always had. Jealousy was a drug to alpha’s, especially Diluc who’s emotions were usually so well kept. He could never deny his desire for his mate, no matter the strain between them.

Kaeya felt hot, his vision usually kept him at a comfortably cool temperature but body flush against Diluc, full of Diluc, all he would feel was his alpha’s warmth, flames of arousal engulf him.

Diluc’s hips snapped against him, rhythm harsh, deliberate, with his teeth still on Kaeya’s mark, he growled against him, those dangerously red eyes squeezing shut. He didn’t miss the way Kaeya’s wet hole clenched around him, begging for his knot.

“Luc, Luc, fuck me I'm yours,” Kaeya begged, his pregnancy almost forgotten to him as Diluc fucked him mercilessly into the floor. “You know Albedo has nothing compared to this cock,  ah !” His natural slick allowed him to take all of Diluc’s swollen alpha cock, all but the knot at the base.

He tensed, Diluc was trying to push it inside as well.

“W-wait Diluc, not inside please.”

His words earned a pained whine from his alpha, after all, it was only instinct. Kaeya was denying him of that.

Diluc would oblige, he had never been one to deny his mate of his wishes, anyone with brains knew that omega was truly the one in control. He resisted, knot pulsing and angry, craving the walls of its mate, craving to breed Kaeya senseless. He needed some form of relief.

Kaeya mewled as he released his neck, lapping at the blood he had drawn as he did so. Once again face to face, Diluc could see the lust on Kaeya’s face, that familiar haze in his eye, the way those plump lips parted just to praise his name as if he was a god and drooled down his cheeks.

Slowing the pump of his cock inside earned an obscene squelch from Kaeya’s slick, his omega was almost insatiable, he had forgotten just how wet he could become when Diluc fucked him right. Keeping his balance, he reached one hand to his knot and squeezed slightly. It wasn’t nearly as good as Kaeya around him but it would do.

He moaned with a shudder, Kaeya made no protests as his thrusts became sloppier, riding himself into an orgasm. While Kaeya begged for him not to knot inside, he made no such commands about his cum inside.

“Shit, Kae-“ Diluc hissed between clenched teeth, with the added pressure of his hand wrapped around his knot he came. The alpha part of his brain protesting as he dared to pull out, watching his cum drip out of Kaeya’s already leaking hole. Seemed his omega had cum too.

There they stayed for a few, Diluc panting and resting his head against Kaeya’s chest, long fingers stroking his scarlet locks. He noticed quickly, Kaeya’s unusual silence, the captain loved pillow talk, for him to be so quiet was a rarity.

Diluc shot up, Kaeya appeared tired which truly wasn’t out of the ordinary for the pair, still, he asked “what’s wrong? Did I disappoint beloved?”

Kaeya smiled then, always when Diluc came down from the high of his orgasm did he refer to him like that, to call him his beloved and his mate. “No Diluc, never.”

He laughed, soft and light as Diluc pouted, only for a second before regaining his composure. His mask was always sloppy after sex, but Kaeya would never complain, it made Diluc less intimidating and more human. Reminding him that his mate was just the same as he was.

He said not another word as he sat up, gently pushing against Diluc’s chest so he could stand. His legs trembled as he walked, wabbled rather, to the bar, reaching over for a washcloth to dry the mess between his thighs. His pants were sweaty but ultimately not ruined, he could have some dignity in his walk home at least.

His alpha watched him intently, captivated still by Kaeya’s body. Not even pulling his clothes on properly could distract Diluc fully, it took throwing the washcloth his way to break the spell. Diluc silently cleaned himself and the floor, albeit halfheartedly.

“I never fucked Albedo.”

“I know.” Diluc sighed, coming down from his high. He walked behind the bar, rinsing the cloth in a sink. “I apologize Kaeya.”

The Cavalry Captain snorted, an apology from Diluc Ragnvindr was rare, especially directed to Kaeya. Albedo was right, he had been able to cover the scent of his pregnancy with sex.

“Sir Kaeya! Sir Kaeya!” Sucrose called after him, the girl's voice so gentle one couldn’t possibly call it a yell. Timid and in all honesty, not the most active, she quickly fell behind the captain before she had a chance to speak with him as he entered Jean’s office to discuss some private manners.

“What is the fuss about?”

Her back straightened and her ears fell flat against her head. Master Diluc was frightening up close, even if he didn’t mean to be. “S-sir Kaeya had asked me a week ago to make something for him.” Sucrose squeaked under his crimson gaze.

“Oh?” Diluc’s back was against the wall beside Jean’s door. Protective, that’s all Sucrose could think. “I don’t suppose it’s to help his… heat problem.”

“Oh I- I’m not meant to discuss these things with strangers, well not strangers but you’re not a knight and you’re not him so…”

Diluc watched the young girl’s eyes fall to the floor, her feet shifting her weight awkwardly. A small bottle she held tightly in her hands as if to hide it away. It was clear to him then that Kaeya was hiding something, if it were to do with his issue with his cycle then surely Sucrose would’ve told when he brought it up. He surprised a growl in the back of his throat.

“Sucrose, is it?” His question earned a quick nod from the girl. “I apologize, I know Sir Kaeya well but he’s always had an issue with hiding things from me.”

Diluc’s apology was simple enough but he didn’t miss the way her cat-like ears perked up, the way they flicked at his words, and her expression twisted from fear to one of deep thought. He wasn’t even sure if she realized the sudden “Oh!” that squeaked out of her.

Before another word could be said, the door clicked as it unlocked, Diluc turned his head toward the noise as Kaeya walked out.

That masking smirk he wore on his face dropped once he laid eyes on Sucrose. Still, he muttered his appreciation toward Jean as he stepped outside her office. “Sucrose… is there something you needed?”

“I didn’t tell!” Sucrose quickly handed the bottle she had been holding to Kaeya, she clasped her hands together and bowed her head before scurrying off.

“Poor girl,” Diluc commented, interested in the object that was now in Kaeya’s expression. “Kaeya.”

His alpha’s voice dragged Kaeya out of his anxious thoughts. It had been another near miss, the captain feared that if he had been a second later then Sucrose would’ve cracked. He hummed in response, staring at the perfume that would mask the scent.

“All this for a bottle of perfume? Honestly.” Diluc scoffed, clearly unimpressed. He was still on edge though, Kaeya was still hiding something else with the way his expression had yet to be hidden behind those years of practice, the icy walls which protected Kaeya from anything and everything, especially Diluc, at that moment were cracked and Diluc could see through.

“It’s to hide a scent.” Kaeya stated calmly, slowly regaining his composure “And no, I’m not trying to hide your claim on me so please don’t even suggest that’s why I have it.”

Diluc stepped toward his mate, while his face was calm Kaeya could tell his mind was racing, trying to come up with a reasonable solution. "Then what is it Kaeya? Eyes on me, tell the truth."

Silence. Kaeya's breath caught in his throat.

Diluc's hand grabbed his chin, forcing him to look his way. A shiver ran down Kaeya's spine at the dominant act, a crooked smirk creeping upon his lips. “You said you’d fuck me full.”

He watched as Diluc's brain tried to keep up, the way his eyes flickered as he registered his mate's words. How his face twisted from shock to delight and finally, to complete seriousness. The familiar deadpan look of his lover at that moment was almost comforting to Kaeya.

His grip eased, suddenly afraid to roughen up Kaeya. However, he tilted Kaeya's head back and forth, as if searching for some sign that he was lying. His lack of trust still apparent after all their years together. "You're not showing." He tried.

"Why would I be? Look at the way I dress, Luc."

If Diluc focused his eyes enough he could see the slightest hint of a bump, hidden behind Kaeya's extravagant form of dress. His high-waisted pants and belts must've been a saving grace. He jumped as Dilluc leaned close, sniffing at his neck to confirm the truth.

Finally, his hand slipped from Kaeya's face to his stomach, hovering and silently asking for permission to touch him so intimately. Which Kaeya complied to, nodding his head.

"I was already carrying when I asked you not to knot me, Albedo..." He trailed off as Diluc sharp gaze pierced him "He said I could cover the scent with sex and it worked."

"I could've hurt her," Diluc whispered, ashamed of himself. His thumb gently stroking the bump "Oh gods I could've hurt her."

"You didn't, they're fine." Kaeya chuckled if their child was anything like either of them, the baby was tough. "So, you're not mad?"

"Well, kind of," Diluc admitted, finally removing his hand from his stomach, moving to hold Kaeya's hip. "You give me little time to prepare for this change, Kaeya."

"Jean knows, I told her and she insists I take time off."

"Good, as you should, I will set up a room for you at the winery, for her too."

"You don't know it's a girl." Kaeya huffed, he was happy though, evident from his genuine smile. Diluc only shrugged in response, he would like a daughter but he was happy either way. "Don't get too domestic with me now Diluc."

"I would never." Diluc kissed his cheek.
