Limitless

Summary:

After employing their talent as a creator, Chaos has a surprise for their new lover Zagreus.

Work Text:

“What do you think, Zagreus? Respond.”

Usually, Chaos did not prompt Zagreus every single time they wanted to hear him anymore, but in this case Zagreus had kind of provoked it, standing there wordlessly staring at them for who knew how long.

When they had first kissed, Chaos had only leaned towards the platform on which Zagreus always landed, their lower part still melting into the primordial ooze and their entire body out of scale even for a deity – their mouth had been twice Zagreus’s size, not that Zagreus had let it stop him. However, Chaos had noted afterwards that they would work on an alternate physical representation “for the purposes of future visits”.

Despite the vagueness, the mention had spurred Zagreus’s fantasy tremendously, not that he’d planned to admit as much to Chaos. However, it seemed like Chaos’s mind had travelled similar roads. The mass of faces, flowers, bones, and other random pieces of halted creation had been parted like a robe to partially reveal long, well-formed legs, only made prettier by the pink flowers that grew in certain spots. Where their thighs almost met in the middle hung a beautifully crafted manhood.

“You’re – very handsome, but I guess I shouldn’t be surprised. You’re the person who first made, uh, everyone, after all, so I suppose you still have the blueprints,” Zagreus answered, cursing himself inwardly for stammering.

“That is an acceptable answer,” Chaos decided as they stepped onto the platform. Even now in this new body, the shining, pink diamond of an eye that sat in the middle of Chaos’s chest still had occasion to look down at Zagreus because of their height, but the proportions could at least conceivably line up now. “Though you do not have to be polite. This is but one of many possible forms.”

“You chose this one, though,” Zagreus said.

“I suppose I did, but I would like to find out how others match you as well.”

Chaos moved to sit on the fallen column of a building that had never existed. They moved slowly, probably unused to their new legs, but it did nothing to hide their grace.

“Do you wish to see the boons now?” Chaos asked, with the slightest hint of humour in their voice, glancing at Stygius in Zagreus’s hand.

“You know, I think my father won’t mind if I take a longer break for once.” Zagreus scratched the back of his head. “Actually, that’s not true, but I’m used to his griping.”

He leaned the Stygian Blade against the fallen column and sat down by Chaos’s side.

“I wondered if this would tempt you to spend more time in my domain.”

“I mean, you don’t need this to make me come here.”

“No, you have always been eager to visit, even though it costs you.” Chaos looked out over the vast darkness of their realm. “I admit I found this odd for a long while, seeing as you must have eventually sated your curiosity. I had not considered that someone who had not met me before creation was finished would become affectionate towards me.”

“It’s just because you’ve been down here for so long. I reckon if more people met you, they would like you, too. I’d like to introduce you to some of my friends one day. Achilles, for example – he is a lot more temperate than me. He wouldn’t constantly blurt out things,” Zagreus joked.

Chaos cocked their head, the streams of bright colours that made up their hair wavering as if moved by a secret gust of wind Zagreus could not feel.

“Tempting. But if you hadn’t started to speak out of turn, I don’t think we would have ever become so close, Son of Hades.”

“That would have been a shame.”

Chaos reached over, their fingers wrapping around Zagreus’s chin. However, though they turned his head towards themselves, they left the choice what to do with the gesture to Zagreus. He had noticed it before, this tendency to lead him to a certain point and then wait for a reaction, a decision.

This time, he didn’t have to think very long at all about what he wanted to do. He leaned in and kissed Chaos.

Since their mouths fit together now, Zagreus immediately decided to make the most of it, sucking their lower lip into his mouth, leaving it open for Chaos to explore with their tongue, which they did after a short pause that felt rather like they were savouring the moment rather than hesitating. Chaos’s hands were still big compared to Zagreus’s, with long, graceful fingers that moved with obvious interest over his body.

Zagreus could not be sure if Chaos’s form would react like his own to touch, but there was nothing to do but try. Resting one hand gently on a the forehead of one half-formed face at about the height of where Chaos’s hip might have been, he slid his hand down over a cheek, another nose, then to the thigh that newly grew out of Chaos’s lower half. The flowers that bloomed on Chaos’s body were sturdier than their counterparts in nature, bending but not breaking when Zagreus’s thumb brushed over them.

Whatever it was doing for Chaos, it did at least not dissuade them, as they were still languidly kissing Zagreus. Their hair that did not so much end anywhere, but fractured into beams of colours blending into their realm, shifted as by itself, lying over Zagreus’s shoulder, and Zagreus ran his fingers through it. It felt hot and cold, like cotton and stone, and dissipated into air at the tips.

Chaos leaned back with a thoughtful expression. “I thought I would tire of you at the start, but I never did and don’t think I now ever will. I think this is another one of these matters that I could find perpetual enjoyment in.”

Zagreus had to grin. At the beginning, Zagreus had felt odd being around Chaos because they were inscrutable to the point of being inhuman – or, well, ungodly. However, the more time he spent with them, the more he realised that they were not so different, after all: They were curious, wise, playful, felt regret over old mistakes, and they had been lonely, understandably so, as they had been alone longer than perhaps any other creature in creation ever had been, isolated for such an amount of time that sometimes Zagreus had felt that despite his much, much younger age, he was teaching them things about interacting with others.

“There’s more to try out, too,” he told him.

“It seems you would like to.”

The manifold eyes on Chaos – in their face, on their forehead, on their chest, on the other heads, enough for a small crowd, really – all focused in one direction for a moment. Zagreus felt blood creep up to his cheeks as he realised that his tunic was tented. He wasn’t usually that easy to excite, but Chaos had him wound around their finger.

“Seeing you like this was a very pleasant surprise.”

“Good,” Chaos said simply.

Zagreus smiled. “Well, we can still stop here. I mean, you haven’t really done any of this before, right? Must be a lot to take in.”

Nyx’s children had been born fatherless, too, something Zagreus had sometimes envied them when he’d still thought he was one of them. From what tales Chaos had told, this ability to create children alone had been passed down from them.

“I see no reason to wait unless you do. I may not have hands-on experience, but I invented the process, after all.”

Zagreus halted for a moment. Despite having grown up amongst gods, sometimes the implications of Chaos’s powers were staggering to think of. It was true that Chaos was the one who had given their creations the parts to enjoy themselves in this way. One day, he’d have to ask them how they had come up with it, but right now, he was a little too distracted.

“Right,” he said. “So... what did you want to do? Because I’m kind of up for anything.”

His gaze went up and down Chaos’s body again and he didn’t try to hide the admiration or the greed.

“Let me try this.”

Chaos took him gently by the shoulder and directed Zagreus off the column to lay on the ground, which suddenly felt softer than stones should have, but without losing its outward shape. Chaos lowered themselves over Zagreus’s thighs, wrapping their large hand around his cock. Zagreus shivered, and realised only a second later that this was only possible because he was fully naked now.

“Where...”

“There,” Chaos said, pointing to a low column. Zagreus’s clothes were draped over the top.

Zagreus chuckled. “Thanks.”

“I do always enjoy seeing the differences from the bodies I built,” Chaos murmured, rubbing his thumb over the head of his cock. “Each comes out a little different, even without a guiding hand. I had hoped that life would be so interesting.”

“What do you think about this body?” Zagreus asked breathlessly, with a lopsided grin. He didn’t even know how someone like Chaos would rate any body, to be honest, but he could see that Chaos’s cock was hard now, too.

“I am glad I did not sculpt it. I do not think I would have thought of all the things I appreciate now.”

Zagreus had to smile even though Chaos let go off his cock. They shifted to sit over his middle now. Fixing one hand on Zagreus’s chest, they lowered themselves down. With their balls in the way and the mass of unmade reality still encircling most of them like a robe, Zagreus could not quite see what was going on.

“Wait, don’t you need prepare yourself a little – oh!”

Zagreus sank into... well, something. Rather than feeling himself squeezing into a hole that was already there, it seemed like he was sinking into a soft, giving material that accommodated him specifically, moulding around his cock.

Chaos’s face remained impassive, but the ones around their hips and legs were blinking rapidly, eyes widening. Zagreus had already noticed that they sometimes showed what Chaos’s expression hid.

“That’s new,” Zagreus managed.

“I have not had time to decide which entrance to choose, so I left it unfinished, since this would work, too,” Chaos said casually. “You can tell me if you have a preference.”

“This is pretty good, to be honest.” Zagreus gulped in air, severely distracted by the way the material pressed around him like the best-fitting imaginable clothes of the finest silk, tight, but not painfully so. “Are you getting anything out of it, though?”

“I am,” Chaos murmured, leaning over Zagreus, their hands framing his face, their long hair falling over Zagreus’s chest. Zagreus felt warmth rising in his chest, feeling that Chaos was not simply talking about sex.

He shook himself out of his awed stillness. As unusual as the logistics of it were, the position was not, and if Chaos’s body worked even a little bit like that of other gods and humans, he knew how to make this even more pleasurable for both of them.

He found vantage points on Chaos’s body, one hand placed between colourless twigs and leaves, the other on an empty piece of reality matter where he didn’t risk poking a poor face’s eye out, and began thrusting into them.

Chaos breathed out, eyes focusing on something in the distance for a moment, as if they mused over this, too; but the rhythm working inside their body did not allow even a creature as mighty as them to fully ignore it and Zagreus did not think Chaos wanted to. They knew well how to enjoy the moment, too, as Zagreus could prove whenever he took the Aegis with its original aspect of Chaos on his escape attempts and heard them commentating, commiserating, laughing.

Zagreus planted his burning feet on the ground, allowing him to pick up the pace, for his own sake’s as much as Chaos’s. The channel he pushed into was not precisely wet, but so smooth that it might as well have been. He raised one hand to pull Chaos down by the back of their head and though they had to bend their long body to kiss Zagreus, they followed the invitation eagerly.

Zagreus dropped one hand to Chaos’s cock. As he did so, he noticed shifting in the world; the primardial ooze was raining upwards. As he brushed his hands over one of the faces at Chaos’s side, its eyes almost rolled back into its head. Even the primary face that was most clearly Chaos had gained a deeper shade of grey and breathed hard into Zagreus’s mouth. Zagreus rolled his hips, stopped for a moment before he started an even quicker pace, his hand squeezing their cock.

Chaos sat up, made an unsteady noise. They were magnificent, the shape of their winged head framed against shifting darkness, their tall, grey figure like a statue as they froze, and though they did not spill seed as they came, it could not be missed – not only did their body contract around Zagreus, but the world did, too, toppling one of the taller columns, setting the black sea around them boiling for a moment.

Zagreus didn’t like to brag too much, but seeing not only his beautiful lover, but an entire piece of the world shaking because of him did admittedly fill him with pride. He grabbed on to Chaos’s wrist, pulled it to his mouth to kiss.

“Can I come inside you?” he ground out.

Chaos nodded their head and Zagreus breathed a sigh of relief mostly because it meant he did not have to wait another second to spend himself. Chaos’s fingers traced a line down his chest as he came.

“This was very diverting. I think I understand now why there are several gods and goddesses dedicated to these matters,” Chaos said after a moment.

Zagreus laughed and smoothed his hands over a few flowers, up Chaos’s ribcage.

“Thanks for making all these changes to yourself so we could do this. I know I can’t really keep up when it comes to versatility.”

“Fortunately, your constant state is very pleasing,” Chaos noted.

Zagreus knew he had to be smiling like a fool, but did not care.
