Work Text:
there was no body
to bring you to your knees
no ashes to coat each finger
words unsaid dying in the throat
your heavy heart, now it shall splinter.
there was no body
to grip tight and hold
no ashes to (privately) scatter
blood on the sleeve–his parting gift
your cracking heart, now it shall shatter.
there was no body
to steal a last glimpse of
no ashes to mingle with dirt
tracks on cheeks of tears shed
your broken heart, now it shall hurt.
there was no body
to enshroud and wrap
no ashes to gather in an urn
potential unlived haunting the days
your aching heart, now it shall yearn.
there was no body
to gently lay upon a pyre
no ashes to cling to your hair
The Truth revealed in his last goodbye
your bleeding heart,oh now it shall Despair.
