Chapter Text
This would work right? Luz hummed to herself as she glanced up at Amity from behind the spellbook. A dusty torn old thing she had found sitting on the shelves at the Owl House, from the human world. Halfway through it, she realized that the chapter in question was about using magic to entice love.
The fact that Amity had immediately come to mind was not important and she certainly didn't start reading it with far more careful interest.
Most of the spells were beyond her, but a certain passage did catch her interest.
"You may fascinate a woman by giving her a piece of cheese."
That didn't sound right… but she could admit that she didn't know near enough about this kind of thing to say it was wrong either.
So here she sat with Amity, in her secret room in the library. They were reading through the newest Azura book, Amity carefully dissecting every sentence with rapt attention but Luz couldn't focus.
She had a plan.
Half a plan really but it was something.
Amity eventually noticed how quiet she had been and looked up.
"Are you okay, Luz? You've been really quiet…"
"Huh? Oh, yeah, I got something for you!" She grinned and Amity sat up, a light pink dusting her cheeks at the idea that Luz had brought her something.
"What is it?" She scooted closer as Luz dug through her bag, tongue poking out the side of her mouth in concentration.
"Cheese!" she finally declared, turning around and presenting something to Amity, who blinked owlishly at the pale white block Luz was holding out to her in a clear baggie.
"C-cheese…?" she repeated, confused.
"Yeah! From the human world, I got some when I went home the other day, I figured you might like to try human food!" She held it out and Amity, hesitated a moment before taking it.
It was the strangest-looking cheese she had ever seen. Pale white and full of little irregular holes.
"Uh…" she glanced back up at Luz, who was still looking at her with a wide grin.
"I can't eat it or I suffer… I mean, sometimes I choose to suffer anyway because cheese is good but try it!
With little other course of action as her crush stared at her with those wide, hopeful eyes, Amity nodded and pulled it out of the bag. It had a certain smell that was unlike anything she had ever smelled before and was soft between her fingers.
'Okay then'
She took a tentative bite and her eyes lit up. It was good. Really good and Luz watched with a bright grin as she popped the rest of it into her mouth.
"Soooo?" Luz asked with a knowing grin.
"It's really good…," Amity admitted, a smile pulling at her lips. "Thank you, Luz."
Luz wasn't sure she would call the soft, pink-faced, adoring stare leveled in her direction 'fascinated' but she would take it!

“Hey, Blight!” Luz called and Amity looked up from her book, scowling, only for something cold to slap across her face, blocking her vision.
The room grew totally silent save for Luz’s quiet snickering.
Slowly, Amity reached up and peeled the cold, yellow slice of cheese off her face. Glaring daggers at Luz, standing in the doorway, barely standing as she wheezed.
“I’ll kill you!” she snarled, jumping up as Luz bolted from the room, laughing.
