Work Text:
The slide from bitter enemies to lovers is a freefall and Ben lets himself go. Her mouth is soft under his, her kisses sweet and she says, “Yes,” and “Yes,” and “More,” to his every desire. Until they are tangled and blurred together, one being forever in a quest for pleasure and fulfilment he has never taken part in before. It is so easy to love her, and so much that he is loved right back.
The step from lovers to partners is a matter of course. He belongs to her already, to sign his name over to her, to wear her ring, and promise to never stray – it is all a matter of course. There is no-one else, there never has been and never will be, she is perfection and everything and they bind themselves to each other forever. There is nothing and no-one he would trust or follow the way he follows her.
The way they slot together despite the chaos of the universe around them is a surprise but one he rolls with quickly and happily. Content she curls into his arms, swaddled in his clothes, and watches the stars, while he brushes her hair back from her face to plant kisses where he can reach. They steal their moments of peace like clever thieves in the night, wrapped up in the comfort of each other.
The strength of power she brought him back to life with when he’d already given his over is shattering. He had been willing to die for her, she hadn’t been willing to let either of them die. “Don’t leave me, Ben,” she demanded with the force of her will everything behind it and he couldn’t deny her, could never deny her. So he breathed and she breathed, and together they lived.
