Chapter Text
This is all of the art from Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: Wayward Baby so far... The story is ongoing, so check the summary for updates in the future. The pictures will be listed in order of appearance, with a brief blurb about the piece. This is the logo for Wayward Baby! It was created by @hollhorse_art on Twitter. She is an amazing artist and designer, accepting commissions like nearly every artist in this gallery! She also designed the next piece in our collection, so let's take a look!
Wayward Baby would be lost without its incredible cover, also by @hollhorse_art on Twitter! I was so thrilled with this piece. It embodied the vision I had in my mind for nearly two years before commissioning it! I always imagined Shizuka with her suitcase, looking out at the big, scary world with a hand over her eyes, as if the story's impending arcs were so bright they caused her to shield her vision. One of my favorite pieces in the entire story!
WHAT a design! What a babe! This is Marina and her Stand Bubblegum Bitch! Art and design by @miyaarte on Twitter! I was so thrilled to see my first real OC of the part in all her glory! This commission was done years after Marina's introduction, but it was just as special to me as her first appearance in text! She's such a powerful, confident, sexy babe with a bat, it really intimidates me! Sometimes it's hard to write her, because I'm too busy thinking about how awesome she is and don't wanna screw her up! Marina might be my favorite purely original character of the story, with Shizuka being my #1. Bubblegum Bitch looks so incredible as well! Miyaarte has never seen or read Jojo, and she was able to make this incredible Stand design just by looking at a gallery of canon Stands I put together for her! It's a true testament to her talent as an artist, and will not be the last display of her ability in this gallery...
Oh, Pa-Pa-Power... It's time for me to tell you all a story! Pa-Pa-Power and Mist are not my unique creations! They were actually lent to me by the original creator of the abilities and designs for use in Wayward Baby! The creator wasn't interested in creating a full story with Pa-Pa-Power and Mist, but wanted their concepts to come to life! I asked if I could use the Stands, and my goodness was I amazed when they said yes! Pepsi and Shirlie, along with their backstories, are my original characters. I only used the Stand Abilities of another writer with their expressed permission! Pepsi is actually based on that writer, if you can believe it! Not only that, but they even drew the Stands and allowed me to use them in the story! This was the first art in Wayward Baby, included in Chapter 12 on its initial launch way back in summer of 2019! It was the first of many, but a lot of the art was added into the story retroactively in 2020 and onward! These are originals, and a gift from a dear friend, which makes their designs incredibly special to me.
Refer to the paragraph above for my thoughts on the twins!
Agent Ripley shocks the scene with her striking beauty and elegant sense of fashion! This is another piece by miyaarte, a wonderfully talented artist who I have worked with MANY times for Wayward Baby! Some of her art hasn't even been included in the story yet, so always check back for updates! Ripley was a very improvised character. I honestly made her up to serve a singular purpose in The Life Divine. She needed to act as a narrative tool, explaining Santana's existence and leading the gang to him. I honestly considered having Santana rip her to pieces, or eat her whole upon his arrival in the dark catacombs, but decided against it! How lucky are we, right? I decided to have her join the group completely on a whim, and now we have an amazing lesbian romance in this whirlwind adventure story! I wouldn't have it any other way.
Ohhhhh boy, here comes a scary lady! This is Isabelle D'Arby, designed and drawn by Viper Noir located at https://mobile.twitter.com/spectrum_viper on Twitter! Viper is open for commissions, and creates wonderful art with a very quick turnaround! They did an outstanding job following my instructions for Isabelle's appearance while also bringing her to life in a way my dummy hands are simply incapable of! I love her design! She's covering all of her skin from the neck down in order to hide the human souls she wears as trophies! They're wriggling, animated tattoos and are capable of displaying fear and despair in real time! Cool, but also very uncool! What a lady.
Aura and her Paper Planes ability, designed and drawn by miyaarte once again! All she wants to do is BANG BANG BANG BANG and take your money! I was inspired by listening to Paper Planes by MIA for hours on repeat, trying to capture that chaotic feminine energy of destruction! I think it worked very well! MiyaArte did a very good job bringing this design to life, and I cannot thank her enough... Wanna see another banger?
OH! A DOUBLE FEATURE! Electric Lady makes her debut in the same chapter as Aura's design, and it was quite a packed show indeed! I wanted to show that Ripley was capable of manifesting a humanoid Stand if she used enough raw power, though it's not really necessary for her to shine in battle! In fact, she faced some pretty absolute defeat after bringing out a physical version of her Stand. Either way, I was just obsessed with the idea and wanted to show you all, and MiyaArte was generous enough to aid me in that! Did I mention she's open for commission?
Shizuka and Flower Child... This was the first piece of art I had specially commissioned for Wayward Baby back in September of 2019! I had everything planned and knew she'd awaken Flower Child against Aura nearly two years before it was finally published! I sat on this art for so long, showing it to friends and using it as a basis for other Shizuka commissions, like the design for the Wayward Baby cover! Laveerie was the original designer of Shizuka, and was an inspiration for every other character design in the story! She's almost like a spiritual mother to the story's art design, and I cannot thank her enough! She's done two more pieces for the story that have yet to be shown, so be sure to keep checking for updates!
This is the cover for Chapter 43: Ikebana. The art is by miyaarte once again, and she did an outstanding job bringing Tsuru to life! This is a very symbolic piece, with Shizuka's pendant growing among the plants in the display. Shizuka's name can be read as "quiet flower" with a certain kanji spelling in Japanese, and Tsuru is the one who arranged that quiet flower's life in a large-scale ikebana display.
Tsuru's Stand, Mother Dawn! The design for this ability is once again credited to @Laveerie on instagram, but this particular piece of art was done by @Pamlunette_art over on Twitter! This is the base version of Tsuru's Stand, and has the ability to make the user completely invulnerable to all sources of damage for a brief period of time. It should be noted that this ability is extremely draining, nearly causing Tsuru to lose consciousness after two uses. Perhaps the human body is incapable of pushing such an ability any further...?
The Circle Game in all its glory. This was designed and drawn by @Laveerie, and is one of my favorites in the whole story. The Circle Game is a Stand Ability that haunted Shizuka for the duration of Wayward Baby. For the longest time, its origins were unclear. After Ikebana, it's revealed that The Circle Game is actually a Requiem Stand evolution of Mother Dawn, and you can even see the Stand Arrow visible on its chest. The Ability of this Requiem Stand isn't completely clear yet, but it seems to have certain dominion over time and knowledge. Tsuru assured Shizuka that if she could get The Circle Game to Blondie, it would take care of everything. Hopefully she's right...
A little bonus, in regards to The Circle Game! The song that used to play during its flashbacks is actually called The Circle Game by Joni Mitchell! It's sung to Shizuka almost like a lullaby as she's dragged into a dreamy dimension. It's revealed that this voice belongs to Tsuru, Shizuka's "mother." The reason behind this is actually very simple and dear to me. My own mother used to sing Joni Mitchell's "The Circle Game" to me every night before bed, planting a strong association between the song and motherhood within my mind. The song tells a story about the circular nature of life, how the seasons spin around without any way to escape. She compares life to a carousel of time, always moving forward despite spinning in circles. This inspired a vision of painted wooden horses running along a carousel as reality distorted outside the ride. Eventually, this idea manifested in Wayward Baby as The Circle Game. There's a reason the Stand's motif is so heavily based on a carousel! It has a pole striking through its entire body, just like a horse on the ride! There are tiny horses running in circles around the Stand, and its outfit almost seems like something right out of a carnival performance! As far as designs go, this is currently my favorite Stand.
Blondie and Rapture, by Laveerie. What is there even to say about this? It's some of the most beautiful art I've ever seen! Laveerie is an amazing artist, and you should all absolutely be following her Instagram right this very second! My mindset going into this design was to mix the real Blondie's appearance with Marilyn Monroe, and Laveerie did a perfect job bringing that vision to life! I also LOVE the way Rapture turned out! A plague doctor Stand has always been an idea of mine, and it goes quite well with Blondie thinking the world is sick, and the only cure is the Stand Virus. All in all, this is an incredible work, and I cannot thank Laveerie enough!
This is Mortimer's original design, and the general idea of his appearance in Chapter 20! When I pitched this design to MiyaArte, she had a few notes. In fact, she completely redesigned him and sent his current outfit to me as a surprise, and I fell in love right away! Let's take a look at that one!
WOW! When Miya sent this to me, I was beside myself. I didn't realize Mortimer looked like this until she drew him for me! For the first time, I was surprised by the way one of my characters came out! I owe all of this to Miya and her incredible eye for design! This Mortimer design is her baby!
