First Day of the 100th School

Summary:

Thomas has been in the foster care for as long he could remember. All the foster parents, all the schools, and all the cities he has been in are all the same to him. But what makes this one different?

Chapter 1: Moving

Chapter Text

Thomas packed his stuff for the hundredth time, and he was waiting outside of his old foster home. He was supposed to meet his new foster dad today and like any other day the person taking him was late. He was used to it, he was doing this since he was just a baby, now he’s sixteen. His dad left him and his mother when he found out she was pregnant, and his mother couldn’t take care of him so she put him in foster care, some parents he had.

Thomas sighed and pulled out his phone, a gift from a past foster parent. He scrolled through Instagram, he didn't post much because what was there to post. Just then a car pulled up, it was Micheal. Thomas has known Micheal since he was two, so it wasn’t weird when he put his stuff in the back and climbed into the front seat without saying anything. As the car started to move he looked out the window.

“How was it this time?” Micheal asked.
“It’s the same as any other.” Thomas said with no emotion.
Micheal sighed, “We just have to look harder.” They have been looking for someone for years to adopt him. Thomas didn’t answer, he knew it wasn’t going to happen, who would want to adopt him?

After an hour of driving they arrived at the house, actually more like an apartment. But Thomas didn’t care, he had been in many apartments in the past. Micheal helped Thomas with his things ,which weren’t many, as he knocked on the door. After a couple of seconds the door opened, “Hello, are you Thomas?” The man asked. He nodded. The man smiled and opened the door even more and Thomas walked in. The apartment was clean and simple. In front of Thomas was a coach, a TV, and a coffee table. To his left was a kitchen, no dining table. “Well I’m Alistair,” The man said, extending his hand out for Thomas to shake it. Thomas did.

“Well, it looks like you two meet each other already,” Micheal said, coming up the stairs to the apartment. He set Thomas' things down next to the door. “Micheal,” He said, also extending his hand out to Alistair. “Alistair.”

Thomas was shown his new room and was left to get settled, which didn’t take long. When he was done he went to find Alistair. He was in the kitchen making lunch. “Hey Thomas. Need something?” Thomas shook his head no. “Well if you do you can just come and get me.”

As Thomas ate lunch he got a good look at Alistair. He had an olive skin tone, with brown hair, and brown eyes. Over lunch Alistair told Thomas what he needed to know about the area. He also told him where the school was so Thomas knew where to go when Alistair was at work.
