Chapter Text
Kitty rolls over on her side of the master bed, her hand in front of her face before she slowly opens one of her eyes and looks at the digital alarm clock on her nightstand. It reads 06:45am; she smiles when she realises that Marley's birthday has officially begun.
And it only took her a few seconds to remember what she and their daughter, Kara had planned for the brunette, the two of them already knowing that today would be happy for the three of them.
As soon as she was fully awake, she rolled over to press a quick kiss to Marley's cheek, her wife's scent wafting into the blonde's nostrils in the process, and headed for their daughter's bedroom once she got out of bed and exited the master bedroom where Marley was still sleeping.
Her bare feet felt good while she walked on the cold wooden floor in her white wife-beater and boxers, which had been cleaned by her a few days ago, when it was her turn to clean the house, since Marley cleaned it last time. And yes, she had worn her yellow rubber gloves, but only because Marley said that she looked sexy in them, as did she when she saw Marley cleaning in them.
She ran her fingers through her blonde hair and walked inside her daughter's bedroom to see the little brunette wide awake and standing on her bed in her Supergirl pajamas; she grabs her child and starts showering her face with soft kisses, bouncing her slightly with each step she takes.
"How's mama happy little girl doing?" Just like Marley, Kitty's baby voice was still there whenever she talked with Kara, who instantly grins in response and pats her blonde mother's face a few times with her smaller hands, before tugging her downward so she could have another kiss. "Let's go make mommy her special birthday breakfast, huh?" She presses her lips to Kara's head before securing her baby in her arms, exiting the room with her and Marley's daughter beside her hip, the two of them carefully make their way downstairs to get everything ready.
"Can you please hand me the pancake batter, sweetie?" Kitty asks after opening the kitchen cabinet door, her hand pointing directly at the small box of pancake batter, which had just enough to serve the three of them.
"Here you go, Mama." Kara responds kindly, obeying the order by taking the small box of pancake batter out and handing it to the older woman.
"Thank you, baby," Kitty kisses Kara's cheek, her hand moving a few strands of the little brunette's hair away from her eyes in the process. "Mommy is going to love this."
"Can I please help you make them?" Kara asks after Kitty lowers her down so she can get the equipment and other ingredients out.
"Of course, you can," Kitty smiles. "You're helping me right now." She adds, her smile gets bigger when she sees Kara stand on the top of the steps stool, just being able to get a slight view of the hob where Kitty had placed the frying pan on.
"Can I flip the pancake when it's ready?"
"What's the magic word?"
"Pleease?"
Kitty giggles. "Yes, you can, but I will have to help you, okay?"
"Okay!"
"Okay," Kitty chuckles, repeating what her daughter just said. "Let's get started."
**
"Aaand… flip the pancake!" Kitty orders, smiling at the sight of her daughter holding a plastic spatula in her hands, Kitty's hands holding onto Kara's little hands, helping her hold the spatula, her daughter's little body pressing against the blonde woman's body to fully support her; the two of them were always the best team ever when it came to things like this, especially when Marley was also helping them. But this time, it was a special birthday breakfast for the older brunette. "Yay!" The two of them cheered, smiling at the sight of one of the pancakes being cooked on one side, currently processing being cooked on the other side.
"We did it!" Kara looks up at her blonde mother.
"We did," Kitty kisses the top of Kara's head. "But there's another pancake to flip for Mommy. Do you think you can do it?"
"Yeah!" Kara responds, feeling absolutely confident that she can do something that the three of them always find challenging to get just right every time they cook one of the many things they love.
"Great," Kitty chuckles on the inside, their hands moving the spatula underneath the second pancake. "Aaand… flip it!"
**
"And… done!" Kara says as soon as Kitty is done putting a scoop of chocolate ice cream onto Marley's birthday pancakes, making the decision to give Kara a little bit afterwards. She knew that if Rachel was with them, she would just reprimand them if she didn't do the same thing with Karley when it was Quinn's birthday. But the two adults were always careful that they didn't give their kids too much or too little. "Mommy is going to love this!"
"Hey, I said that earlier," Kitty runs her hand along Kara's head, trying not to notice the grin on her daughter's face. "Thief."
"I'm not a thief, Mama," Kara corrects. "Otherwise, Mommy would put me in her superhero jail."
Kitty laughs. "You're so funny, sweetheart. And I probably shouldn't tell you this, but Mommy and I have a secret that we're keeping from you."
"Really?" Kara lowers her eyebrows. "What is it?"
"If I told you, then it wouldn't be a secret."
"True." Kara adds, forcing Kitty to chuckle. "Like Uncle Seb secretly being The Flash?"
"Yeah," Kitty responds, her head nodding slightly. She knows that Kara isn't old enough to watch either The Flash starring Sebastian as Barry Allen, or Supergirl starring her mommy as Kara Danvers/Zor-El, but she does allow her to watch some scenes in some episodes that Kara does understand, which are also not too violent, but are enough for her to yell at the TV, encouraging them that they can do it, no matter what is happening. And she always knows that Kara smiles every time she sees Sebastian as the fastest man alive, as well as Marley as Superman's cousin. "Shall we go deliver Mommy her birthday breakfast, now that it's ready?"
"Yeah!" Kara jumps up and down, clapping excitedly.
"Okay," Kitty giggles, taking the plate of pancakes with chocolate ice cream off of the counter, holding it with both her hands. "Do you know where her present from both of us is?"
"Up your butt!"
"Excuse me?" Kitty raises her eyebrows, her eyes looking down at her child.
"Mommy told me that you said that to her on your first date," Kara explains, causing Kitty to know exactly what she's talking about, reflecting on one of her happiest memories of her entire life. "She asked you where her dessert was after she'd gone to the bathroom, and you said…"
"Up your butt," Kitty grins mischievously. "I did give it back to her; it was sitting next to me, almost touching my Cheerios! skirt, but luckily it didn't. She looked so adorable while eating her dessert."
"She always looks adorable, Mama," Kara points out, making Kitty smile gleefully at the words that just came out of the little brunette’s mouth. "Come on! We've gotta get her special birthday breakfast to her!"
"Okay, okay, calm down, you're acting like it's your birthday," Kitty says, crouching down to her daughter's height to level with her face. "Can you please go get the present from both of us and meet me upstairs so we can wake Mommy up in the best way possible?"
"Okay." Kara responds, smiling before immediately rushing into the living room, remembering the exact location of where they've hidden Marley's present from both of them.
Kitty smiles as she stops halfway up the stairs, watching her daughter get down on her hands and knees, almost looking as if she is about to fly like Supergirl, pulling out the present from under the couch when Kitty has made it to the top of the stairs and is standing by the door of the master bedroom.
The blonde can't help but smile sweetly at the sight of Marley still sleeping in bed. It was making her think of all the times the two of them would watch Kara still be asleep in her bed when it was time to wake her up from her morning or afternoon nap. She looks down when she feels a slight tug on her white pajama shorts, seeing the other brunette in the house standing by her side, her eyes focusing on the sleeping birthday woman.
"Ready?" Kitty asks, a big smile appearing on her face, chuckling on the inside when she sees her daughter nodding. "Here we go," She adds, the two of them walking inside the master bedroom, standing by Marley's side of the bed, by the master bedroom door. "And…" She whispers softly, just loud enough for Kara to hear her while holding the plate with one hand to count with her fingers. "1... 2… 3."
"Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday, dear Mommy. Happy birthday to you."
Marley smiles and immediately wakes up to see her wife and daughter standing in front of her, the two of them smiling back at the older brunette. "Yay, you guys remembered." She says, moving her hair away from her eyes while chuckling.
"Of course, we remembered, Mommy," Kara responds, leaping onto the bed, parking her body on the actress’s stomach. "It's your birthday, today!"
"I know it's my birthday," Marley kisses Kara's forehead. "And I'm happy that you guys made me breakfast? That is for me, right?" She asks, and Kitty has to laugh at that.
"Yes," Kitty confirms, nodding while laughing. "It is for you, and I, of course, had help from the best."
"She's talking about me." Kara explains, and Marley has no choice but to laugh at what their daughter just said.
"I know she's talking about you, sweetie," Marley chuckles, kissing the top of Kara's head. "So, what did you make for me on this special day?"
"We made you your favourite," Kitty says, putting the plate down on Marley's lap, but not until after Kara had moved out of the way when she heard the blonde woman announce that she was going to put the plate down on her daughter's butt. "As you can see, your special birthday breakfast from us, is pancakes with chocolate ice cream."
"Just the way you like it, Mommy." Kara adds, speaking for her mama.
"Aww, thanks, you guys,” Marley smiles, eating the chocolate ice cream with the spoon that Kara had remembered to add to the plate, taking the knife and fork that Kitty had remembered to put on the plate when she was finished with the ice cream, cutting the pancakes up into pieces while eating them. "Mmm! This ish ama-shing!"
"Mommy, what did we say about talking with your mouth full?" Kara grins, her hands behind her back, causing Kitty to chuckle with her head in her hands.
"That it's not nice, and it can cause you to choke," Marley explains, using her own advice that she and Kitty remind their daughter, every time she talks with her mouth full. Sometimes, it was by accident, other times she just couldn't help herself. "I'm sorry, and it won't happen again." She adds, using the words that Kara always says as her response to what she had done.
"That's a good girl," Kitty sits down on her side of the bed, her hand stroking gently along Marley's cheek. "You excited for your birthday present from us, baby?"
"I sure am," Marley responds, once she is finished chewing her piece of pancake before swallowing it. "I can't wait to see what it is. And I already know I'm going to love it because it's from both of you."
"It is," Kitty kisses Marley's head. "But just before we give you your present from us, why don't you continue eating your special birthday breakfast, and you and I will think back, and we'll tell Kara about the time we celebrated your birthday when she was just a baby?"
"Sounds good. Do you guys want some?"
"No, it's okay, we'll make our own."

Flashback
It may have been only three days since the second birthday of the Berry-Fabray child, in which all their high school friends and most of their family members attended the party, but Kitty couldn't help but smile adoringly at the sight of a 16-month-old Kara Rose-Wilde sleeping peacefully in her crib, even though she remembered Santana telling everyone in the group chat about the pain of having to listen to Rachel say how much she loved being on Broadway as well as being a mother, which she may have smiled at, along with Quinn, Marley and Kitty, but it did make her feel exhausted. At least, according to what she said. Kitty and Marley knew very well that watching their daughter in the last moments of her sleep before she woke up to either her mama or her mommy, was one of her favourite things to do every morning. Sometimes, it was Marley. Sometimes, it was Kitty. And other times, it was both of them but only because they felt like they should both do it instead of it just being one of them.
And today, Kitty had a wonderful surprise planned for Marley, with the help of their daughter, where absolutely nothing could go wrong, or end horribly in disaster.
With her hands holding onto the edge of her daughter's crib, Kitty did nothing but stared into Kara's eyes occasionally fluttering ever so slightly, with her left foot resting on her Supergirl plush (Which Marley had obviously bought for her when she was very little and even named it for her) and her right hand wrapped around on one of the slats that kept her safely contained inside her crib. Kitty giggles silently a few minutes later as she watched her child break the threshold of consciousness, with her little fist unfurling and moving across her eyes, until even in the lowest light of the morning, a pair of blue eyes, Marley's eyes, stared up at her, and a sleepy smile came across her beautiful, little face.
"Good morning, sleepyhead." Kitty coos down at her, and her child’s tiny arms reached up for her, waiting for her mother to lift her into her arms, wanting to feel her embrace.
"Ma. Ma!" Kara insisted, kicking her feet against the freshly-cleaned mattress and laughing. Kitty leaned over and lifted Kara high into the air with a gasp as she did an open-mouthed smile, then bringing her down so she was level with her face and she could give her baby good morning kisses all over hers. "'Ss! 'Ss! 'Ss!"
"That's right, sweet baby," Kitty coos, looking at Kara's face. "So many kisses for you, and let's go see someone else who needs their morning kisses. Especially since today is a very special day for someone whom we both love. Time to wake Mommy up for your breakfast."
Carrying Kara with her into the master bedroom, Kitty smiled happily at Marley, who was still all tangled up in the sheets, with one hand draped across her eyes, which was exactly how Kara had been sleeping just a few minutes earlier, shielding her eyes from the early morning light that had somehow managed to sneak through the shades. Walking over to the bed, Kitty lowered down beside the brunette, a loud giggle came out of Kara as Kitty held her close to Marley's face, and she instantly pressed her lips against her mommy's face once she was close enough, giving her mommy wet sloppy kisses all over. Before Marley had even woken up, she smiled gleefully, and Kitty quickly kissed her lips over and over again, humming contentment against them, to show Marley just how much she loved her.
"Mo! Mmy!" Kara kept kissing Marley's face all over, and even though it was very clear that Marley was enjoying what she was receiving, she forced herself up so she was sitting against the headboard before taking Kara from her wife's arms.
"Hey baby," Marley coos at her child, peppering Kara's face with kisses as payback, she and Kitty smiling on the inside when they hear the happy squeals coming from their daughter. "Kisses from my two favourite girls, huh? What a nice way to wake me up. Best morning ever. Especially since today is a very special day." She adds, smiling at her blonde wife and blonde daughter.
As Marley remained holding Kara in her arms, Kitty made her way around the master bed, getting back to her side before getting on and happily swinging her legs onto the mattress before cuddling into Marley's side, smiling adoringly at the sight she was seeing.
"Happy birthday, baby." Kitty whispers softly in Marley's ear before she kisses her temple.
"Thanks, Kitty," Marley pointed out, turning around carefully to look at her wife. "I'm guessing you and our sweet little girl have some nice surprises for me?"
"We sure do," Kitty nods her head, chuckling. "I may have a low tolerance for nice, but I love seeing you be happy, baby."
"Me, too." Marley smiles as they both looked down at Kara, who'd begun to nurse, like Marley was still letting her do every morning and before bed. Neither of them wanted Marley to stop since they just found the sight absolutely adorable. But as the years would go by, they knew eventually that they would have to put the past behind them once Kara got older.
"You looking forward to seeing what the surprises are?" Kitty questions her favourite person in the entire world, gently stroking her thumb along Kara's cheek. "There are some that we both know you'll love."
"Of course," Marley says, smiling happily. "And I'm also looking forward to seeing Rachel and Quinn."
"And Kurt and Sebastian," Kitty reminds, her finger pointing at the brunette. "It'll be nice to see the four of them, as well as Karley, Tracy and Warbler too."
"I'm so excited." Marley smiles, she and Kitty look down at their little baby.
"I can see that." Kitty smiles in return before she kisses Marley's temple.
After Kara had been fed, the three of them spent some time playing peek-a-boo, singing, laughing, and blowing raspberries onto Kara's chubby little baby belly. They both knew very well that it was something that Kara absolutely loved. Especially when they were from either Quinn and Rachel. Eventually, they dragged themselves up, taking their time dressing, with the two of them getting Kara dressed into a little pink dress with a heart on it and a ruffled diaper cover with purple polka dots on it, the sight making Marley and Kitty want to do nothing but just press kisses to her cheeks over and over again.
"She looks so cute!" Kitty coos, adoring the sight of Kara being held close to Marley's chest. "I love you, baby."
"I love you too, Mama." Marley talks in her baby voice, causing Kitty to smile at her attempt to sound like their daughter, immediately pressing her lips to the baby's forehead and her wife's lips. "You are amazing," She adds kindly, looking directly into Kitty's eyes. "I love you."
"I love you too." Kitty responds, giving her wife her birthday kiss on the lips.
**
"Hi!" Rachel claps her hands, happily entering the house with Quinn following from behind, Karley beside her hip. "Happy birthday, Marley!"
"Thanks, Rachel," Marley smiles, slightly shocked when she feels Rachel hug her tightly, but is also a tiny bit relieved. "Geez, I'm glad I'm not the one holding my baby."
"The baby can hear you," Kitty points out, standing just a few feet away from where her wife, friend, and mentor during her sophomore year were standing, holding Kara close to her chest. "But she won't understand what you're saying, so everything's fine."
"Yeah, but this baby can understand what you're saying," Quinn says, looking directly at the two-year-old girl beside her hip. "Only she's not a baby anymore, because according to her, she's a big girl."
"I am," Karley responds as Quinn bounces her back up. "I'm a big girl."
"See?" Quinn teases, looking at Marley before turning her attention back to the Faberry daughter.
"We know you're a big girl, sweetie, but you don't need to keep reminding us," Rachel says, her head shaking slightly, her hand holding onto Karley's shoe. "Mommy and I, as well as the rest of the family, already know how big you're getting. Just like Tracy and Warbler."
"And they are right here, in case you are wondering." Kurt says from the couch in the living room, his hand gesturing over to his son and daughter who are sitting next to him.
"Papa, where's Daddy?" Warbler asks, he and Tracy curious to know where Sebastian is.
"He's out at the moment," Kurt adds, smiling at his kids. "But he'll be here as fast as he can."
Blaine chuckles after hearing that, feeling relieved with himself for entering the house at just the right moment. "Good one, Kurt."
"Uncle Blaine!" Tracy and Warbler both scramble off the couch to run and hug their godfather.
"Hey, you two," Blaine smiles, kissing his ex-boyfriend's kids on the heads. "Have your papa and daddy been behaving themselves?"
"No," Warbler lies, grinning mischievously. "They haven't."
Blaine gasps sarcastically, his eyes looking directly at his godson. "Really? Well, then, no Christmas presents for them, this year."
"Warbler," Kurt looks at his son from behind the couch. "Papa can hear you. And I'm sure Daddy can also hear you from wherever he is."
"Okay, I lied," Warbler admits. "Papa and Daddy have been on their best behaviour, I'm sorry I lied, Uncle Blaine, please don't not give me any presents this year."
"Hey, I'm not gonna do that to you, buddy," Blaine adds, running his hand along the boy's hair. "I'm not that kind of person. Even though I did once play the same villain in an episode of The Flash and Supergirl."
"You were in The Flash?" Warbler asks, the two siblings turning around to look at Kurt. "What episode is he in?"
"And what episode of Supergirl is he in?" Tracy adds, speaking for her younger brother.
"That's for us to know, and you two to find out." Kurt responds, grinning at his son and daughter since he already knew the episodes of The Flash and Supergirl that had Blaine in them.
"Well, that was interesting to watch," Kitty says, still holding Kara close to her chest. "Might I remind you all that today is my beautiful wife's birthday, and I would appreciate it if it wasn't ruined by any of you, understood?"
"Yes, ma'am." Marley says randomly, making the others chuckle at her response.
"Good," Kitty adds, smiling at her favourite brunette. "Now, please change Kara because she stinks, and so that I don't have to."
"Yes, ma'am." Marley responds, repeating what she just said but in a slightly annoyed voice, even though changing Kara was something that they both enjoyed doing.
"Just kidding, I got it." Kitty giggles, taking Kara back from her wife's arms.
"Thanks, Kitty." Marley says, receiving a quick kiss on the cheek, her eyes following her wife and daughter as they went upstairs.
End of flashback
**
"I remember that," Marley chuckles, her head resting on the side of Kitty's chest, her eyes looking up at the ceiling, before looking at the blonde woman's face. "I remember every single second of it."
"I know you do," Kitty presses her lips to the crown of Marley's head before picking up the knife and fork on her plate, cutting up another piece of pancake for her. "Open wide,” She adds, gently shoving the fork into her wife's mouth, her face scrunching up slightly into a grumpy smile to amuse her while she chews. "Hmm. I'm grumpy."
"Stop it," Marley giggles after swallowing. "You know I find it funny when you pull that face."
"What face?" Kitty asks, changing her facial expression from a grumpy face to her normal face, but with lowered eyebrows. "This face?" She adds, pulling the same grumpy face again.
Marley laughs. "Stop it. When you pull that face, you look like you're constipated."
"Well, maybe that's because I am," Kitty grins, putting her hands on Marley's face, cupping her cheeks before stroking her thumbs gently across them. "I'm not. And you know how much I love you, Marley Rose."
"And you know how much I love you, Kitty Wilde." Marley replies, smiling sweetly at the love of her life.
"More than you could ever imagine, baby."
"Hey, that's what I was gonna say."
"Well, I said it for you."
"Does the story end there?" Kara asks her parents. "Is there more?"
"There is more of the story," Kitty responds, confirming the answer to her and Marley's child. "Do you want to know what the surprise was?"
"Yeah!" Kara says, cheerfully, clapping her hands with excitement.
"Okay," Marley laughs along with Kitty, her hand patting down on her wife's side of the bed. "Come on up, sweetie."
"Okay," Kara responds, repeating what the older brunette just said. The three of them know that Kara is able to get onto the bed herself, but they also know that she sometimes likes to continue with how things were when the side of the bed was just a few inches too high for her to climb up on. "Mama, help me." She begs, trying her best not to grin, failing miserably when her moms laugh at the face she's pulling.
"Sure thing, baby," Kitty gets off of the bed after Marley pulls her head away from her side, allowing Kitty to walk around the master bed, stopping at her side in order to scoop Kara's butt up and lift it onto the mattress. "There we go."
"Come here," Marley rubs her hand along her daughter's back when Kara comes closer and cuddles into the older brunette. "I love you so much." She adds, pressing her lips to Kara's cheek.
"I love you too, Mommy." Kara says, receiving another kiss on the cheek from Marley, right before Kitty kissed her other cheek after she got back onto her wife's side of the bed, her legs swinging happily once she took her wife’s plate from where it was sitting on the mattress, and placed it on the birthday woman's chest.
"We love you, sweetie," Kitty kisses Kara's forehead. "So much."
"Do you want to hear the rest of the story about my birthday when you were just 16 months old?" Marley teasingly asks, she and her favourite blonde already knowing the answer.
"Yeah!" Kara nods her head slightly, repeating exactly what she had just said, less than a minute ago. "Please tell me!"
"I'm guessing you're saying that you want to hear the rest of the story?” Kitty asks, trying her best not to chuckle with Marley.
"Yeah!" Kara repeats for the third time. "Please tell me! I want to know!"
"I'm guessing you're saying that you want to hear the rest of the story?" Kitty asks, trying her best not to chuckle with Marley.
"Yeah!" Kara repeats for the third time. "Please tell me! I want to know!"
"Okay," Marley says, she and Kitty both giggle at how much their daughter wants to hear the rest of the story; it is very obvious to both of them that she's interested.
"Here's what happened next."
