Work Text:

A Monday lunchtime found Nonomiya and Kouta together in the company corridors as they ambled their way to the main office. They still had plenty of time before the end of their lunch break so they were taking the opportunity to chat as they walked along. They’d talked about various miscellaneous things from recent news and work to some more personal stuff, but now the conversation shifted to the latest office phenomenon. Specifically a certain albino animal that had been spotted around the building.

“Come on Nonomiya, I even asked Reo about it and he said that it is possible for vampires to transform into bats provided they have the energy”

Nonomiya looked over at his co-worker (friend?), face full of scepticism.

“I don't understand why you keep trying to insist that this supposed white bat that, let me remind you apparently ’everyone’ at the office except me has seen, is meant to be Franz.” Nonomiya shook his head at the absurd nature of Kouta’s claim, “It makes absolutely no sense. Why would he ever bother wasting his energy to come watch our workplace, it’s hardly the most exciting place.”

Kouta listened as Nonomiya listed off reasons why it would be ridiculous for Franz to be at their office, before cutting in with surprising confidence.

“Maybe he’s watching you?”

Somehow Nonomiya looked even more sceptical. He stopped in the empty corridor turning fully to face Kouta, back to the windows.

“And why on earth would he be doing that? To make sure his blood bag isn’t going to run off somewhere? Please I’m sure even Franz has better things to do with his time.

As Kouta opened his mouth to begin his rebuttal a flash of white in the corner of his eye caught his attention instead. Just beyond the window over Nonomiya’s shoulder, perched on one of the taller trees that dotted the area around the office sat a small white bat, a single green eye meeting his own.

“There!”

“Hm?”

Seo pointed straight at the bat (that was definitely Franz). However as Nonomiya spun around to look at what had caught the attention of his conversion partner, the bat leapt up into the cover of the dense foliage of leaves, leaving Seo pointing at nothing but an empty branch. With nothing obvious to see, Nonomiya turned back to Seo.

“Seo let’s just get back to work, ok”
As Nonomiya began walking again Kouta gave one last glance to the window. Franz had returned to his previous position and his eye that had been watching as Nonomiya left, snapped to Kouta’s gaze. Kouta didn't think it was possible for a bat to display such clear, easily understood emotion, especially not the pure smug face that Franz the bat was pulling at him. He could almost hear the other’s laughter at his expense.
Kouta wouldn't consider himself a violent person, but he still struggled to stamp down the rising urge to chuck his bag at the vampire. It turned out he didn't have to do anything as suddenly another bigger white bat swooped in, catching Franz unaware and barrelling him over. Kouta caught one quick flash of familiar yellow eyes before the bigger bat took off, flying to who knows where with its catch.

“Seo-chan, you coming”

“Oh, um, yep, be right there!”

Kouta turned away from the strange scene that had just played out before him jogging lightly to catch up to Nonomiya.
Hopefully the bat he assumed to be Reo would be able to sort out this odd situation.

The two white bats eventually landed in an isolated alleyway nearby, before being replaced by two men with equally white hair and pale skin. Still slightly disoriented by the unexpected kidnapping, the smaller of the pair took a moment to regain his senses before turning on the taller man.

“Reo. What was that for.”

In response to the icy glare he was receiving Reo merely smiled, before responding in a pacifying tone.

“Come now Franz, you should give them some privacy”

“Tch, you just don’t like me around Seo do you. What think I’m gonna take him away?”

Reo didn’t seem at all affected by the venom that dripped off Franz’s fangs as he stated his accusations.

“I assure you, I’m not at all worried about you taking an interest in Kouta.” After all, Reo already knew that Franz’s tastes leaned more towards a certain redhead. “Although he may have mentioned something about a little white bat distracting him from getting work done”

“I knew it!”

Reo chuckled, really Franz could be so cute when he was worked up about something.

“Wait little.”

“When Kouta told me about your presence I must admit I was curious. Spending all day watching humans as they went around their daily lives. Well, That is the exact thing you claimed to me was boring”

Franz huffed, arms coming to cross his chest as he looked away from Reo’s questioning eyes.

“So what, I can change my mind on things you know.”

“Franz we have known each other for a long time now and while I know that to be true it is still a rare occurrence. What sparked such a change?”

“Nothing I just felt like it” Franz could already tell without looking that Reo wouldn’t just let him get away with that answer.
The silence between them was awkward. Well not entirely silent, with his enhanced hearing Franz could hear every little thing in the surrounding area, the busy street behind them, the chatter as people walked around the thud as something (probably a cat) jumped from a nearby dumpster. It was making Franz uncomfortable. Reo always did have the most patience between the two.

“I was bored, There’s nothing interesting to do at Nonomiya’s apartment and there’s still a bunch of hunters around”

“So it’s not just people watching. You’re watching Nonomiya”

Franz stared at Reo blankly as he processed what Reo had just said.
How had Reo gotten to that conclusion

Never one to let go of an opportunity to tease Reo continued whilst Franz was still stunned in confusion.

“Franz, if you want to woo Nonomiya I can suggest much better methods than stalking him”

“What.” That broke Franz out of his daze, “No! I’m not trying to…to court him! That-”

“Calm down Franz I was only teasing ”

Although no longer shouting Franz hadn’t calmed down at all. The red blush stood out against his pale skin and he was baring his teeth at Reo growling quietly under his breath. Reo could take the hint that Franz didn’t wish to speak with him for now.

“I’ll see you later Franz” With a flourish, Reo turned, form hidden by his fluttering coat before flying off in his bat form.

Franz rolled his eyes at the display, Reo always did enjoy his dramatics.
Now what to do. Go back to watching Nonomiya humans. No, Franz had had his fun already teasing Reo’s ‘lover’, besides he would rather not have Reo come grabbing him out of nowhere again. Reo may look frail but he could still hit like a truck when he wanted to.
Sighing Franz prepared to shift his form. Looks like it was back to Nonomiya’s apartment to binge watch whatever was currently on.

“I’m home”

“Welcome back”

Nonomiya toed off his shoes, dropping his bag by the door, before heading further in. He was met by the sight of his current roommate and leech lounging on his couch. The TV was playing…something, honestly Nonomiya had no idea (some sort of documentary?) he was pretty sure Franz didn’t care what it was either, as his attention immediately snapped to Nonomiya the moment he came into view. Franz’s cloak had been discarded over the back of the sofa and his normal outfit switched out a turtleneck slightly too big for him. Wait, that was his turtleneck.
Nonomiya felt his eye twitch in irritation as he made his way to the front of the couch.

“Franz.”

“Hmm?”

Nonomiya opened his mouth to chide Franz for stealing his clothes again, but paused as the rest of the vampire came into view. Specifically what he held in his hands.

“Are those my leftovers”

Franz smirked at him, staring straight into his eyes, before shoving the rest of the half eaten pizza slice into his mouth and swallowing.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about Nono-chan~”

Nonomiya looked between the vampire and the empty pizza box on the table. He was too tired to deal with this. Shuffling forwards he collapsed onto the unoccupied side of the couch, not that there was much room for him. Nonomiya had bought this with only one person in mind after all. He ended up squishing against the vampire’s cold body, who hadn’t even bothered trying to shuffle over to give Nonomiya any more space.

“Sooo, enjoy your work today?”

There was amusement dancing in his visible eye like he was making a joke, one that Nonomiya wasn’t in on. Nonomiya leaned back into the couch, closing his eyes. He was tempted to ignore him, he already knew Franz didn’t actually care about how his day went, he was just looking for an excuse to mess with him. A moment of silence passed between them, before Franz made his next move.

Shifting on the couch Franz turned to face Nonomiya, pulling his legs up to plop them right in his lap. At first Nonomiya continued trying to ignore him. Franz, obviously displeased that his tactics weren't working, began to nudge lightly at Nonomiya's stomach with his foot.
Nonomiya opened his eyes to see the lounging vampire smirking at him. Deciding that it was probably best to indulge Franz before he ended up escalating his prodding, Nonomiya sighed heavily before using all his strength to shove at the legs still occupying his lap. It probably didn’t feel more then a light tap to the vampire but mercifully he relented moving back into his originally sitting position

“It was fine, boring, same as usual.“

“Did you chat with Reo’s blood bag”

“For the last time Franz, Seo is Reo lover, you could at least bother to use his name”

Franz just huffed as if the idea that humans and vampires could actually be friends (or even more) was really that absurd. Well it wasn’t like he and Franz were the shining example of a healthy partnership, or whatever they were. If he asked Franz he was sure he would get something along the lines of ‘you’re just my blood supply who happens to conveniently live alone in an apartment and made the extremely poor decision to fall in love with a vampire who will never see you as anything more than food.’
…maybe not that last bit. Yeah, Nonomiya didn't need any more blows to his self esteem, thank you very much.

With Franz not saying anything else Nonomiya’s attention was drawn to the tv still playing in the background. What was even going on? The screen was dark, it was still that documentary from earlier right?
Huh, looks like they were doing a section on bats, specifically vampire bats.

“Hey Franz, can you turn into a bat?”

“Hmmmmm, why the sudden curiosity Nonomiya?”

Franz's mouth stretched into a wide smile, moving even closer to the salaryman, getting close enough to his face that he could feel each breath the other made. Most of his weight was now leaning into Nonomiya pushing him further into the corner of the couch, effectively trapping him.

“Franz move”

Said vampire pouted before moving away to the other side of the couch turning away from Nonomiya. Before he could be grateful of his newfound freedom, it was quickly taken away again as Franz lay down across his lap, stretching out in a way vaguely reminiscent of a cat. Nonomiya met Franz’s playful gaze with one filled with nothing but exasperation and contempt.

Completely ignoring Nonomiya’s annoyed expression glaring down at him Franz reached up and started messing with the longer strand of hair that hung down from the right side of his face, twirling it between his clawed fingers. It probably said a lot about Nonomiya’s self preservation that he didn't even flinch as one of those sharp claws brushed against his cheek.

“So Nono-chan, you were saying?”

“...nothing, stop dodging the question”

“Don’t wanna answer”

“Huh?”

“But…” Franz's smile turned sharp, fangs flashing, and hand playing with his hair suddenly moved to grip on tightly, before pulling his head down, closing the distance between the two. Shifting upwards, Franz began nosing at Nonomiya’s exposed throat, savouring the moan that escaped his prey as he licked a long line across the bare skin, stopping just near the base of his ear.

“Maybe you can convince me~”

~~~
Nonomiya woke up sore, neck covered in bite marks, wanting nothing more than to bury himself into his sheets and go back to sleep.
Urgh, he was going to feel that for the next couple days.
Wait.
Franz never answered his question.
From the kitchen Franz laughed to himself as he heard a loud groan emanating from the bedroom. His Nonomiya really was the most fun to tease. Now if only he could figure out what to do about these strange feelings towards the salaryman that had been slowly growing within him.
