Work Text:
Chiron decided to push through the Capture the Flag game despite it being the evening before Christmas due to majority's request. There are a lot of people in camp for a winter, maybe it's because of the festivities.
Will wasn't happy about this at all. He just wanted to cuddle with Nico in the Hades Cabin but since there's Capture the Flag, the infirmary is currently full, which means Will's working his butt off to heal injuries and help other campers fight against hypothermia.
He was so busy that he didn't even notice as the time ticked by so quickly. Once all patients were treated and only a few remained to stay overnight, he urged his siblings to rest in their cabin as he takes the night shift and finish the paper works because as Head Medic, he feels responsible.
Once they were gone. Will looked at the clock that shows 10:45 pm then let out a sigh as sat at his desk to do the huge pile of work. He wanted to find Nico but alas, he has a job to do.
As he was beginning with the papers though, he let out a yawn, feeling his eyes droop in tiredness. He hummed softly as he whispered to himself, "Just a few minutes." As soon as he said that, he rested his head on his arms which were crossed on the desk, just below the papers he needed to finish.
He didn't know how long time has passed when he felt a familiar gentle nudge in his arm, "Hey, Solace. Wake up. It's midnight… It's Christmas." he said voice soft, gentle as to not to scare Will.
When Will fluttered his eyes open then slowly looked up, he was greeted by Nico Di Angelo's worried eyes looking down at him. Will tried to respond but felt his voice was hoarse. So, he raised a finger to signal for Nico to wait then stood up to drink water.
As soon as he stood up though, he felt his head ache then immediately felt dizzy. He swayed a bit, but Nico was already there to keep him steady by putting an arm around his waist. Nico sighed, the scene in front of him not being new at all. (This happens a lot.) As the smaller boy gently guided Will back to his chair before getting the glass of water, keeping hold of the glass even as Will held it, making sure he doesn't drop it.
Once he was done. Nico scowled, "Why aren't you wearing gloves?"
Will tried to smile but he only ended up sneezing. After doing so, he tried for a sheepish smile, "I'm sorry… Can't really heal people in gloves."
Nico sighed dejectedly as he poked his finger through Will's shivering hand, "You should really learn to think of yourself too."
Will shrugged, "I know, I'm sorry."
Nico sighed, "You're lucky it's Christmas." Will smiled at that then he smiled back, causing his heart to flutter in joy. Nico's smiles, as rare as they are, always does this to him. There's just something special about them.
Will then noticed that Nico shifted shyly from foot to foot as suddenly a thought passed through the son of Apollo's head, "What are you doing in the infirmary this later… Or Early? I know it's christmas, but we could've celebrated it in the morning, you know." Will let out a few coughs which made Nico roll his eyes before answering, "Actually I got you something and I was too shy to give it to you… In the morning… in front of many people…"
Before Will could react or say anything or even comprehend what Nico said, the son of Hades walked through a shadow before coming back a few seconds later holding up what seems to be a gift but Nico didn't use a gift wrapper, no. He used a black blanket with skulls and sun patterns that was tied with a silver ribbon on top.
Will gasped as he took it gently, as if it was such a delicate thing, "Oh darling, you shouldn't have."
Nico shrugged, "Just open it up and get some rest already. You can't take the night shift in your condition."
The son of Apollo raised a questioning eyebrow before trying to protest but Nico glared at him, "Don't even start, Solace. You don't want to anger your quick-tempered boyfriend on Christmas day. I'm going to watch the infirmary and do the papers. I've watched you do it many times before so I'll be fine."
Will couldn't get it in himself to protest as lets out a chuckle, glad to have a boyfriend like Nico,"Alright then, darling."
Nico's face softened at that as he kneeled in front of Will, watching him expectantly, "What are you waiting for? Open your gift."
Will cracked a smile as he sneezed through his arms, " 'Cuse me." before observing the gift again, then untying the ribbon keeping the blanket together.
As soon as he saw what was inside, he gasped, "Oh Nico… You remember this?"
Nico smirked proudly, "How could I not? You were staring at that teddy bear a few months ago for so long, it actually made me jealous."
Then suddenly, despite his sore throat and head spinning, Will found it to laugh so hard at Nico's face. Nico frowned as Will gestured towards the black Teddy bear with a white tummy and paws, "The reason why I couldn't get my eyes off the bear was because yes, it's adorable but also because it reminds me of you, silly! So no need to be jealous."
Nico blushed red whether in shame or just the other boy's teasing, Will could never know. He then crossed his arms before turning away with a huff, "You're such a dork, Solace."
Will rolled his eyes as he cuddled the bear close to his chest, "But seriously, I love it. Thank you."
Nico couldn't help himself due to the amount of affection evident in Will's words. So, he turned back to Will who really looked like shit now then took the blanket that once was a gift wrapper as he placed it around Will, "You should really get some rest now." he said, not even hiding the worry in his voice. "Please." he pleaded.
Nico rarely pleads, so that got Will's attention. It was Christmas day after all, and so, he nodded then let Nico lead him to the nearest cot.
Will laid down comfy with his new Teddy bear and warm blanket. He smiled at Nico who smiled back despite the worry in his eyes. Nico then leaned in, placing a gentle kiss on Will's forehead, "Get some rest Mio Sole. If you're better in the morning then we'd definitely go on a Christmas date, okay?"
Will's smile brightened at that, now more determined to actually rest, "Okay." he said softly yet rather quickly.
Nico let out a chuckle then placed a final yet gently kiss on Will's lips before leaving the older boy to rest, hoping that he'll feel better because though he may not admit it, he'd also want to go on a date with Will, especially since it's Christmas Day. Today was meant to be special.
In case he doesn't feel better though, then Nico would definitely stay by Will's side until he is. Besides, they both knew that as long as they're by each other's sides, every moment is special.
