It was seven in the morning and Ten had already woken up, way too early from his routine. If not for his boyfriend who is too excited for Christmas, he would sleep through the alarm, which is still two days away.
Ten finds Kun and his Christmas spirit is stupidly endearing and in fact, he's never gotten used to his boyfriend antiques even after three years together. Well, he knows how sentimental Kun is and it's not a surprise that the man will cherish a big celebration with a routine just like in a movie. Two days before Christmas, Ten usually asks Kun to go to a café together and walk around the park and the mall to see those huge Christmas trees in real life. Then on Christmas eve, they will drink wine, eat chocolate that Ten's sister sent, and cuddle on a couch while doing a marathon watching Modern Family or The Voice (and it's just for background noises while they tell how each other's day went).
On Christmas day, Ten would wake up with sweet kisses on his face and his nose would scrunch up then sigh in pleasure when he caught the pleasant smell of french toast and freshly brewed coffee. After eating their brunch, they will go to the living room where a rather small Christmas tree stands and they're going to exchange gifts (with Home Alone playing in the background).
It's nice to have a routine with Kun. He finds comfort in doing something familiar after weeks filled with unexpected events.
But, this year is going slightly different from usual. Johnny and Taeyong invited them and the rest of the closest friends to their house. They moved in together earlier this year, and apparently, the best way to spend their first Christmas eve's eve together after moving into a nice house is with friends and… their friends' pets. Of course, it becomes a reason for them to do a little and fun competition.
Ten planned to buy Louis and Leon a new outfit for dinner in his best friend's house with Kun, but Kun already has something in his mind and he's not letting Ten know what it is. As much as he loves Kun, he doesn't trust Kun's taste in fashion. It's unfair that he looks good even in the weirdest patterned baggy pants.
At first, Ten was sure to say no to him, but he's a weak man. Saying no to Kun when he went pouty and staring at him with those disgustingly adorable pleading eyes? God, he's not the strongest soldier, so he let his boyfriend buy anything for his babies, Louis and Leon.
The sound of the opened door makes Ten flinch and he immediately walks to the source of the sound. Kun brought a medium-sized box and another bag, probably filled with decorations for Ten's Christmas tree.
"Is that for the babies?" Ten asks while pointing his fingers to the box.
Kun hummed and smiled when his eyes caught Ten's gleaming eyes staring at the box. Adorable, he thought.
"Yes, honey. I hope you and your babies like it." Kun says and kisses Ten on his temple before walking into the living room and putting the bag on the couch. Meanwhile, Ten follows him with his fingers constantly touching the box. He can't wait to see what outfit Kun bought for Louis and Leon, hoping it's not something lame. Ten has a reputation to hold when it comes to his pets and he won't let Dejun's beagle, Bella, come to the dinner with a cuter outfit than his babies. He's too excited and curious because his boyfriend has been bragging about how cute the costumes are and, "it will look so adorable on the babies," he said.
Ten looks at Kun, asking (pleading) with his eyes if he could open the box now. His hands are already grabbing and shaking the box, trying to guess what's on the inside. He's cooing at Louis that walks closer to where Ten sits on the floor right now, seems as curious as him since he paws the box. "Aren't you curious, baby? Me too, but your step-dad likes keeping secrets."
Kun chuckles and shakes his head a little while looking at Ten, now taking Louis into his hug and snuggling his face to Louis' belly. Surely Louis is Ten's favorite, but the Thai man will never admit it. "You know you can open it now, right?" Kun asks and walks into Ten's bedroom to see if Leon is there since he doesn't see the cat in his usual spot; the cat tower near the window. Smiles painted in Kun's face when his eyes caught Leon laying on Ten's bed with his paws up. "You sleep like a human," Kun mumbles and caressing Leon's belly until the cat blinks his eyes slowly, still feeling sleepy.
"Kun! Bring Leon here! I want to open this together with my babies!"
"Come on, Leon, your dad is getting impatient," Kun says in hush tones and holds Leon in his arms, taking him to the living room and letting him jump from his arms to join his brother in Ten's laps.
Kun sits beside Ten after taking a scissor to open the package, "here, don't use your nails to rip the package." Ten takes the scissor and mutters a small 'thank you' for Kun after kiss on his cheek.
Well, Kun's not going to lie that he feels a little bit nervous if the costumes wouldn't fit for Leon and Louis. He saw the outfit on some random online shop that randomly showed up in an Instagram story ad, and he thought it would be the perfect Christmas gift for Leon and Louis. But he's not sure Ten's going to love it as he does. Ten likes spoiling his babies with various kinds of snacks, cat's accessories, or some toys, and he never bought any apparel for his babies.
Ten gasps as soon as he opens the package and it makes Kun snaps out from his thought and looks at his boyfriend, who is now holding up a green Christmas tree-shaped cape with a star on the top and little balls on the rim of the hood with different colors. "What do you think?" Kun asks and he can't hold back his smiles when he sees Ten is beaming at him while hugging the cape. Ten lean closer to Kun, kiss his boyfriend's lips, and giggle when Kun chases his lips to give a longer kiss. "I need to put this on them first, then I'm telling you what I think about it," Ten said after pulling himself away from Kun, or the babies will never wear the presents Kun bought.
After struggling for more or less five minutes trying to put the capes on Leon and Louis, Kun can't be more grateful to the Instagram algorithm and showing that ad. "Oh, God! Ten, they're so adorable!" Kun squeals at how cute the babies look and it fits them just right. He holds out his hands, brings Louis to his arms, and then hugs him. Seeing his brother get hugged by his favorite human after his dad, Leon walks to Kun and snuggles to his thighs, seeking attention.
"Oh, Leon, don't be jealous. You're still Kun's favorite child," Ten protests playfully. He stretches out both his hands and takes Leon into his embrace, showering the youngest Lee brothers with kisses on his face. The action makes Kun chuckle, hiding his grin with bringing Louis' body closer to his face.
"You haven't told me what you think about the outfit."
The words make Ten lets out a small 'oh' from his mouth and let Leon lays comfortably on his lap. "I think, Dejun doesn't have a chance," a wide smile crack on Ten's gorgeous face.
"Thank you, Kun, for buying them early Christmas presents. They look so good in this." Ten thanked Kun with a gentle voice, his eyes gleaming, and Kun lets out a soft laugh. "It's nothing. I do it for my pride too, don't wanna let them be the supporting roles at the dinner, you know?" Kun replies jokingly. He laughs when Ten smacks him at his forearms, "I know you were just pretending you didn't care! You're so competitive for this playful competition."
"Oh, shut up! Who's been going into several pet shops for looking for any perfect apparel for the babies these two weeks?" Kun argues, which makes Ten roll his eyes playfully.
"You're gonna be the star, aren't you, baby?" Ten cooes Leon, that still lay on Ten's lap, while stroking his furs. Kun lets Louis join his brother, getting his dad's attention and resting his back on the couch behind him. His eyes scanned the moment in front of him right now. Kun is trying to record and save all the details in his head; Ten's face light up while talking to Leon and Louis (the cat seem comfortable wearing the capes), taking pictures of the cats, and sometimes Ten is going to nag at Louis or Leon when they are trying to nibble at the drawstring. Silently, Kun pulls out his phone from his pocket and take several (so many) pictures of Louis and Leon snuggling and cuddling to Ten with the Christmas tree costumes. His chest is full of adoration when he notices how soft Ten looks right now with his slightly mussed black hair and that baggy sleep t-shirt.
"Babe,"
"Hm?"
"I think we should add a new tradition for Christmas."
"Buying Christmas presents for the babies?"
"Yes. I think they're gonna love it."
