Mark is a clumsy person.
From the countless times he had tripped on his way to music shows, to quickly get on stage for their performance, to all the times that he accidentally burnt his skin whenever they were in a time crunch and only had time to eat instant ramen right from the pot. Jaehyun has witnessed it all, the members' reactions differ from concealed laughter to concern washing their faces and quickly getting up from their positions to help him.
Jaehyun was the person who was always there to help him, even if sometimes he would grin over his clumsiness and tease him for that. His boyfriend was cute whenever he tripped and fell on his ass—cute pout adorning his face. Jaehyun couldn't help but giggle before reaching to help him back up on his feet again.
He just thinks that Mark is cute at whatever he does, whether he would be performing on stage or cuddling his torso whenever he has to sleep. To put it shortly, he is whipped. He remembers the time when they celebrated their 2nd anniversary, Mark tried to surprise him by putting up decorations in their room and bringing the cake he made in the evening, with the help of Taeyong and Johnny. He thinks that without them he would've burned the dorm down. He was being careful of the cake he was holding in both of his hands, trying to walk to their room where he already set up the table. Unfortunately, he slipped over the Welcome mat and the cake was splattered on the floor. He just placed his head down beside the splattered cake and sighed heavily, getting up ten minutes later feeling defeated and ordering some takeout—hoping that it would make him feel better at his attempt at surprising his boyfriend.
He didn't.
When Jaehyun arrived home to the surprise, he was faced with a pouty Mark that was sulking at the takeout he just ordered along with a long speech about how he was sorry he couldn't do more since the cake he made was ruined and that he loved him a lot. Jaehyun just grinned quietly at his boyfriend's antics and continued to tell him that everything was alright, he doesn't care about the ruined cake or the cheap takeout they had that was less than romantic, he just wants Mark beside him for however long he wants him. Safe to say, Mark cried into his embrace and they both cuddled on Jaehyun's bed until they were both too tired to keep their eyelids open.
Today was not an exception for Mark's clumsiness.
His schedule was jam-packed, so he had to wake up in the morning to start his day. His alarm rang loudly across his room, the noise waking him up. Sitting on his bed, he took some time for his consciousness to be awake before walking sleepily to his closet to take some clothes. After picking out his clothes, he quickly showered and got out from their shared bathroom before any of the members whined and knocked on the bathroom door.
He wanted to start the morning with something energizing, the thought of coffee in the morning certainly makes him feel at ease, something to boost his energy wouldn't seem like such a bad idea (it was). He waited for the coffee machine to finish brewing his coffee before putting his cup below the machine, waiting for the hot coffee to fill the cup. After what felt like five minutes of scrolling through his phone, his cup was finally filling up with coffee—he sighed in relief. He thinks he might not be thinking straight this morning because after the coffee machine started to slowly empty itself, he drank it right away. He felt like an idiot for doing so, his throat felt like it was burning and his tongue was overstimulated by the heat of the coffee.
He hurriedly opened his mouth and fanned his tongue with both of his hands, frantically trying to find water near him. Curse him for being the clumsiest member out of all of them. Jaehyun quickly maneuvered his way to his lover, shoving a glass of water into his hands. He quickly drank it, the heat died down a bit as he finally felt some relief seep through. Jaehyun shook his head and sighed at his boyfriend's antics, patting his shoulders in an attempt to comfort the younger. Mark was still taking deep breaths to calm himself from the situation that just happened.
At the spur of the moment, Jaehyun comes up with an idea.
“Does it still hurt?” He asks even if it was obvious that his boyfriend was still in pain. “Can't you see? I—” His words were interrupted before his chin was tilted upwards and he was engulfed by a kiss. Mark whined in shock at what Jaehyun did, but it was quickly replaced by a hum of pleasure. He deepened his kiss while wrapping his arms around Mark's waist and pulled him closer to his chest. He can taste the remaining charcoal and caffeine on his tongue, making him feel a bit dazed. They were both out of breath as he broke the kiss apart.
“You taste like charcoal,” Jaehyun said after regaining his breath. “Hopefully it doesn't hurt anymore,” He continued, satisfied with the rosy cheeks and pink-tipped ears his boyfriend wore. “S-Shut up!” Mark stuttered, still out of breath and shocked at the older's behavior. Jaehyun cheekily grins as he pecks both of his cheeks, leaving Mark speechless.
