The Shadow.

Summary:

People get lost all the time in the woods and trails, anyway. And who’s going to check a cemetery for hidden bodies?

Notes:

This is nothing more than an insight inside a serial killer's mind and how it works.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Xiao Zhan gets graveyard shifts, easier for him to hide his devious ways. And when he gets the chance to work at a graveyard in late hours of the night, do you think he'd say no? Wrong, he'd never waste an opportunity like that. So many easy targets, mostly men who aren't scared of taking a walk or a jog outside while it's darker than the inside of a wolf's mouth. They all think they're safe, they all think they're big enough, strong enough to fight off an attacker, they're all wrong.

He doesn't kill to fight the ghost of an absent father and a controlling mother, nor to eat their bodies or to commit necrophillic acts. No. He just likes the chase, likes to hear them plea for their lifes, he likes to look them in the eye as the life fades from them.

He's a sociopath, always in control of his emotions, capable of apearing soft and inviting one moment only to turn into your worst nightmare the other.

He was always like that, in a way. As cliché as it sounds, the child psychologist likened his... "condition" to a hit on the head when he was 4. You know how kids are; always getting in trouble, always getting bumps and bruises. That's how you grow up, right? That's how you learn to be careful, to protect yourself from danger. Danger such as Xiao Zhan, predators that lurk in the shadows waiting for their next victim.

And that's the best part, since he isn't fighting any demons --he comes from a loving family, the ocassional fight here and there but nothing to worry about--, his victims are always varied, nothing to connect them other than the fact that they dissapear only to never be seen again.

Notes:

Yeah, I have no explanation for this. It just sort of... happened.
