Work Text:
"Don't get so cocky just yet!" Wukong yelled out as he dove in extending his staff violently into the ground before it stabbed the rock floor in front Macaque. The cracking of the stone spreading quickly as the staff was further shoved into the ground as Wukong dove in with the momentum of the movement. Wukong set out his leg to go in for a kick to Macaque's stomach to knock him down. But Macaque was too quick with his reaction for that to work on him as he quickly dogged to the side. Crouching down behind Wukong as the immortal king finally made contact with the floor. The powerful kick causing the rock to fully break and crackle making a dust cloud breath into existence as it puffed into the air.
"How can I not get cocky when-" Macaque quickly grabbed the scruff of Wukong's shirt and pulled him back as he slammed him into the ground immediately after.
"-you keep getting knocked down!" Macaque then pulled out his mace as he swung it down besides Wukong's head with a loud clash.
"Surrender great sage. You're pinned." Wukong was still recovering from the fast movement. Only chuckling deep and lowly in response before giving Macaque a mischievous gaze. A sly grin on his face before speaking out.
"You know Macaque, for how talented you are in combat you let down your guard way too much for your own good." Wukong began to giggle as he saw Macaque face go from pure triumph to confusion.
"What-"
Macaque didn't notice Wukong's tail was slowly wrapping itself around his ankle. Wukong pulled forcefully as Macaque was still processing what Wukong had said. He fell back quickly dropping his mace on the floor from the sudden loss of balance. Wukong then went in to now pin Macaque with his staff. But Macaque used Wukong's looming figure over him as a shadow. Melting into the shadow before Wukong could even pull out the staff.
"That was a low blow Wukong." Macaque had morphed behind Wukong from the shadows of the now destroyed and scattered boulders.
"Thought we said no magic!" Wukong turned around staff in hand ready to fight.
"Well rules change," And with that Macaque summoned his mace to form in his hand as he rushed in towards Wukong. Little did Macaque know was that he was right where Wukong wanted him.
Wukong shot his staff forward, which Macaque swiftly dodged. Then he waited for Macaque to be in close proximity before turning and ducking quickly as he spread out his leg in front of him kicking out Macaque's leg from under him. The shadow demon fell down again dropping his mace as he fell. Wukong then pounced on him mid fall and put all his weight onto Macaque as he fell with him. Wukong had successfully pinned Macaque down without even needing his staff.
Macaque groaned in pain as he felt his body painfully make contact with the stone floor.
"What's that you were saying about me being pinned?"
"You know that was a cheap move."
"Maybe I do. I still won though."
Macaque breathed in slowly as he worked on trying to get his breathing stabilized again.
"Where'd you learn that leg sweep move? I don't remember learning that one."
"Surprise, surprise. I train with more people than just you."
Macaque gazed up at Wukong with a playful look in his stare.
"Oh sorry, forgot that you have other friends that actually know how fight,"
Wukong flicked Macaque's forehead as he responded.
"Don't belittle my old friends, you used to be just like them."
Macaque's eyebrow quirked up at that before grinning maniacally.
"Really? So all you're friends get to be pinned by a handsome sage? Man and here I thought I was special."
Wukong's face then flared up in a bright red before he spoke down to Macaque.
"You-"
"Me?"
Wukong then pulled Macaque by the collar of his shirt narrowing his eyes at his old friend.
"You're overly dramatic you know that?"
Macaque threw his head back as he let out a loud gasp. He put his hand on his forehead and yelled out.
"What horror! You don't even deny it! So I'm really not special, you do this with all of your partners! Here I thought we had something special." Macaque was grinning like a idiot before continuing.
"Heaven help me I feel my heart wilting as I speak!"
Wukong started to pull Macaque closer while chuckling slightly.
"Stop being a drama queen you know you're special to me."
Macaque tilted his head back to Wukong. Still grinning obnoxiously. He then leaned his head in as he spoke lowly with want in his voice.
"Prove it."
Wukong didn't realize how close they were until he felt Macaque's breath on his face. And Wukong then felt his whole face ignite immediately as he was at a loss of words on what to do. He knew what Macaque was implying when he said that but Wukong felt that he was frozen in place. Unable to move feeling Macaque's breath on his, feeling his warmth, seeing the want in his eyes-
"I-"
Wukong took in a shaky breath before whispering out to Macaque.
"I, can't."
Wukong looked down as Macaque began to laugh as he at stared into Wukong's golden eyes. For as confident as Wukong acts its always been with Macaque that he could never make the first move. Even if Macaque did all the work leading up to a moment like this, Wukong would still be too embarrassed to move forward a few mere inches. He'd be too flustered and shy to even meet Macaque's eyes sometimes when he realized the situation they were in.
"You know I'm not gonna do it for you this time."
Macaque's voice pulled Wukong out of his thoughts as he finally looked the demon in his eyes. The great sage equal to heaven, The Monkey king himself, couldn't find the power to move a few inches to meet Macaque's lips. Wukong could feel his face going a deep red with embarrassment. No, he was going to do it this time. He can't wimp out and have Macaque be the one to initiate the kiss again. Wukong was going to do it.
Wukong mustered up all the courage he could as he inched forward in a painfully slow manner. He face going darker and darker in shades of red as he did so. Then Wukong let his eyes close calmly as he felt his lips touch Macaque's. Wukong could feel Macaque smiling into the kiss as he slowly wrapped his arms around Wukong's shoulders. Wukong melted into the feeling of Macaque's lips as he deepened their kiss. Macaque pulled Wukong close as he kissed Wukong back just as deeply. Wukong broke the kiss for a second of air before going right back, this resulted in Macaque laughing at Wukong's eagerness to continue. Eventually the kiss did end up with Macaque being the one in control as he French kissed Wukong until he had to pull away to take a breather.
Macaque giggled as he stared at Wukong.
"Sorry, was that too much?"
Wukong was still catching his breath as he responded.
"A little, yeah-"
Macaque let go of Wukong's shoulders as he leaned back and stared at the sky.
"I'll slow it down more next time."
Wukong then looked down at Macaque feeling a sudden sharp pang of guilt. They'd been doing this for months. Wukong knew they shouldn't be giving into their wants. They can't be. But Wukong wanted to so badly, he wanted to love Macaque as much as he wanted without a care in the world.
"You know there shouldn't be a next time."
Wukong felt Macaque's body stiffen under him.
"You say that. But there always is one."
Macaque looked away from the sky to Wukong.
"And it's not like you've really put in any effort to stop any next times either."
"Well neither have you!" Wukong bitterly spat out.
"It's not my fault that I enjoy our time together."
There was a long beat of silence before Wukong spoke up.
"You know I want this too, but we can't be together."
"Why not?"
Wukong gave Macaque a serious look before speaking again, his voice sounding hurt and timid.
"You know why..."
Macaque took in large breath before sighing out in a grim tone.
"Don't you think that.Well since we've made up-"
"We've barely made up in less then a few months."
Macaque pressed his forehead to Wukong's in a slow but calm manner.
"You know for a great sage you're not so wise."
"Aren't we suppose to work on being friends you dick."
Macaque laughed lightly before whispering out to Wukong in a teasing but serious tone.
"We've been able to work out the past together no? I don't see a reason why we can't keep figuring out how fix our past mistake so that we can be together."
Macaque took Wukong's face in his hands and stared lovingly into Wukong's eyes.
"Do you want that?"
Wukong had to think for a moment. He had treated Macaque horribly as a friend in the past, he had fought the man till he was just a body on the ground. How could he ever be okay with being with him. Wukong knew he had changed entirely since then but still, could Macaque really be serious about wanting to be with him. Don't get him wrong, Wukong was still furious deep down for what Macaque's done. But he was willing to keep that in if that meant they could be together after years of their relationship being stuck in a obscure, painful, pitiful limbo.
Wukong moved forward to kiss Macaque, before whispering out.
"Of course I do."
"So Monkey King. What's up with Macaque joining us for training?"
Wukong laughed as he jumped from a tree onto the ground fruits falling out of his arms as he smiled at his successor.
"Nothing much, why is he bothering you?"
Mk swung his arms around franticly before blurting out.
"No,no! I just, well, wanted to just know I guess. Macaque's never joined us before ya know? So I'm just surprised he's joining us now."
Wukong threw a fruit towards his disciple before grinning ear to ear as he walked into the familiar training ground. Mk almost dropping said fruit as they made it onto the platform.
"What took you so long?" Macaque yelled out as he stood up, mace already in his hand as he smiled at Wukong and Mk.
"Wanted to bring you a little something before we got here!" Wukong then showed his spoils from pillaging all the trees up the mountain.
Macaque quickly made his way over as Mk went under the shade of a tree to go and stretch and get ready for whatever will be thrown at him.
Little did Mk know, his mentors were sharing a small kiss as they shared the fruits together. Giggling like idiots before backing away from one and other when Mk had turned around to ask them what he'd be learning.
