Chapter Text
It had been a long mission, thankfully everyone had made it out with no major injuries. Dick rode back with Jason. They didn’t talk. Neither of them had the energy so they sat and listened to the sounds of Jason’s motorcycle.
It only took them a few hours to get back, which seemed short compared to the four month mission. A mission that may have destroyed everything Dick had worked so hard to build.
There you were, getting ready to leave. From the way your car was packed and the look Alfred gave him. You were leaving forever.
“You’re leaving?”
“Why do you even care?” It’s not like your here anyways was left unsaid but it felt like it echoed through his bones.
“Y/-”
“No, I’m done Richard. I can’t do this anymore.” He couldn’t do anything, couldn’t say or move. He was stuck. He was stuck standing while the best thing in life drove away. He wanted to move, to go to you, to tell you how much he loved you. But he couldn’t. Instead, he just stood there and his knees gave out.
Jason caught him and pulled him into a hug. It was over, it hurt, and he wanted nothing more than to scream until he couldn’t scream anymore.
Instead, he just knelt there and sobbed.
