Su Bebé Mariposa

Summary:

Mirabels family knows they have a lot to make up for. They just wish it hadn’t taken them so long to finally see, Casita can help with that...

Notes:

I don’t own Encanto, it’s just my current obsession.

I always think I come up with pretty good plots for stories, I just have trouble actually getting them down on paper. So forgive me if this is an absolute mess.

Should I keep going or just put us all out of our misery and end it here???

Please be honest...

Chapter Text

It’s been seven months. Seven months since Mirabel saved the miracle, and one month since the Madrigals were able to call their beloved Casita home again.

And every Madrigal was trying to do better, trying to BE better.

They were working less, relaxing and trying to make time for each other more. They were working on their traumas and insecurities, and learning how to be open and honest with each other.

And Casita was loving it!!!

No more cracks in the walls, no more flickering candle.

Only happy days ahead, and today was indeed a happy day!!!

Today was Mirabels 16th birthday, and the party was in full swing.

Casita was decked out from top to bottom in a rainbow of colors. From purple and teal streamers, to yellow and orange table clothes. Pink Peonies, Green Roses, and White Orchids everywhere. With little Parodia Herteri Cacti as table center pieces, per the birthday girls request. Fairy lights giving everything an ethereal glow.

Julieta had gone all out making all of Mirabels favorite foods and her crowning glory: a sixteen layered birthday cake. One for every year the family had been blessed to have the birthday girl in their lives. It was enough to feed the entire Encanto, because let’s face it EVERYBODY was there.

Music was playing and everyone was dancing.

It was a perfect night.

That’s what the family was hoping anyway. Mirabel deserved it, and her family was willing to do anything to make it happen.

This was the first real birthday party Mirabel’s had since she was five. Except for a few presents and a cake, Mirabels birthday usually went by like any other day. And even those few special things had begun to dwindle through the years as the family got busier and busier. They even forgot about her Quinceañera, with nobody remembering to actually plan it and then a mudslide on the actual day of.

They knew they had a lot to make up for...

Looking at the birthday girl, seeing her wide smile and shining eyes, as she danced and laughed with her friends from town.

They just wished it hadn’t taken her near death for them to see Mirabel. Not her lack of gift, just her, their sweet mariposita. They wished they could erase her trauma, fears, and self doubt; like she’s always done for them. They all just wished it hadn’t taken them so long to see.

Now this is a wish I can get behind thought Casita.
