Work Text:

Ei was simply here to visit Sara.

Usually it wasn't a problem for her to just walk in, so she simply opened the door. Sara was reading some book with Ei, or more accurately, the Shogun on the cover. Ei could tell that Sara hadn't noticed her entry, somehow.

"Hello Sara, what are you reading?" Ei said.

Sara became completely flustered and shoved the book behind her back.

"N-nothing! Anyways, what are you doing here?" Sara stuttered, making Ei not buy it.

"Just to visit you, of course. Again, what were you reading?" Ei asked again.

"Well, uh, it's kinda hard to explain-"

"I believe I would understand, Sara."

"It's… It's called fanfiction and it has these things called ships-"

"I am quite aware of ships, they help with transport."

"That's not what I mea-"

"There's ships that are not a means of transportation in these books?"

Ei reached to grab the book, and grabbed it before Sara realized. She opened it and began reading a section.

"Oh Almighty Shogun! Please save me!" Y/N shouts.

Samurai surround you, but you hear a buzzing from behind you. You look behind, and there is the Raiden Shogun. Her Excellency, The Goddess of Thunder, The Almighty Narukami Ogosho. She has her sword, the Musuo no Hitachi out. In one fell swoop, she gets rid of all of the samurai.

"Good thing I came in time, Y/N."

"Oh… My Shogun… Thank you so much."

"Anything for you."

She pulls you in for a kis-

Ei closed the book.

"I didn't do any of this, and the Shogun is most certainly not designed to do so," Ei said, confused.

Sara doesn't respond, completely flustered. She took the book back from Ei, quickly.

"Why don't you go visit Miko?" Sara said, not looking up.

"But I would like to know why some author is writing lies about myself."

"You can ask Miko, she's head of the Yae Publishing House after all."

Before Ei can continue, Sara basically pushed her out of the room and shut the door. Ei… left Sara alone for now. Off to the Grand Narukami Shrine, it seemed. On the way there, she picked up some Dango milks. She knew the citizens weren't quite used to seeing their Shogun out and about, as she heard whispers from the folks on the street.

As she arrived at the Grand Narukami Shrine, she saw Miko reading a novel that seemed to be about the Traveler.

"Hello, Miko," Ei greeted her, and handed her a gift.

"Oho, Ei? What a pleasure, and you bear a gift too. What would you like to discuss?" Miko, as always, knew exactly what Ei was here for.

"I went to visit Sara, and she was reading this peculiar… literature."

"Oh? What did she call it?"

"Faaan…. Ficitiooon?"

Miko almost burst out laughing, Ei could tell. But she kept from doing so, as she continued the conversation.

"Ah, a 'x reader'?"

"... 'x reader'?"

"You have much to learn about the light novel and fanfic world, now I am sure Sara could explain it to you~"

"Alright."

They headed back to the Tenryou Commission Headquarters, and knocked on Sara's door. Miko opened it without getting a response, and well, Sara was still reading the same fanfiction as before. You would expect her to learn her lesson. Unfortunately not, and Miko smirks.

"Sara, I didn't know you enjoyed 'x readers'," Yae said, and Ei watched Sara's reaction.

"Knowing you that's a lie, and didn't I tell you knock before entering?!" Sara practically shouted at the two.

"I did."

"Well then wait for a response!"

"I did-"

"No you did not!"

"Anyways, mind explaining to Ei what-" Miko took the book from Sara's hands.

"This is?"

Ei could tell that Miko was most certainly making Sara mad on purpose. Sara was getting ticked off. That is, until she processed what Miko had said. She blushed and gave Miko a big glare.

"Well. Uhm. As I said earlier, it's called fanfiction. It has… relationships between characters, or a character and the reader…" Sara blushed as she looked down.

"That… still does not explain to me why the Shogun is being written incorrectly," Ei responded.

"Well, fanfiction is all about making up things. Scenarios. And then writing them for fun-"

"What Sara is trying to say, she reads fanfic of you and me in a relationship with her, as a reader. She likes to imagine all of the things happening, as something that actually happened."

Sara immediately looked up and blushed a lot.

"Sara, why would you read scenarios of us when you could just come and ask us for them?" Ei asked

"Because they're unrealistic scenarios," Sara responded.

Ei was beyond confused, but she could tell by the look on Miko's face, this was all a mission. A mission to make Sara embarrassed as hell. So, Ei took hold of Miko's arm and dragged her out, before closing the door.

"I'll have you know she owns 10 of those for each of us," Miko said.

"It confuses me, but I'm done for now. You should head off back to the Grand Narukami Shrine."

"Well, I do have some editing to do, so I guess I shall head back."

With that, Miko started on the way back to the Grand Narukami Shrine.

Ei was just simply thoroughly confused by the whole of this. However, she got to see Sara embarrassed, which was a rare sight indeed. She shall try to understand 'fanfiction' next time.
