Work Text:
Jake realized that he was a simp.
All it took was a bat of an eyelash, a well placed pout, or shining wet eyes for him to crumble and follow through every whim his slightly spoiled boyfriend had.
This sudden realization came as he was cuddling his boyfriend to sleep after he had thoroughly pampered him hours prior. He laid there, spooning Sunoo as the blonde quickly fell into deep slumber.
He could smell the soft flowery scent Sunoo always used as his shampoo. The feeling of the familiar weight and the comforting warmth in his arms was slowly lulling him to dreamland as well. Sunoo mumbled something in his sleep, shifting around to face Jake instead and burrow his head against his chest. The gesture made butterflies erupt in his stomach and without realizing it, he felt his lips twitch up into a fond smile. Purely out of reflex, he brought a hand up and began combing it through Sunoo's hair. He felt the way Sunoo's body relaxed, arm going lax from where he had gone to hug Jake.
It made Jake feel weirdly happy knowing Sunoo trusted him enough to fall asleep like this. To feel safe enough to be this vulnerable; something Sunoo hated. He spent a few moments just caressing Sunoo's hair, thoughts hazy with nothing but Sunoo.
Sunoo shifted again in his sleep, this time, lying on his back. Jake spent a while just to watch him sleep. He looked more relaxed, a far cry from the way he had entered their shared apartment earlier that day, looking close to bursting into tears.
"Got yelled at at work today." Sunoo had said, lips pursed into a sad pout. He huffed and fiddled with his bangs. "It wasn't even my fault. I just happened to be there and my boss decided to take it out on me."
Jake felt himself go weak and he came to give his boyfriend a hug. "Oh, baby..." He cooed softly, rubbing his hand up and down Sunoo's back. "I'm sorry to hear that."
They spent a while just hugging until Sunoo sighed and gently broke away from the embrace. "It's okay now I guess. What's for dinner? I'm hungry."
Jake bit his lip, he could tell it wasn't. "How about you put your stuff away first. Let me draw you a bath."
Sunoo frowned at him. "You don't have to." He mumbled. Jake was attuned enough with his boyfriend to know that that wasn't the case. "Just go."
Sunoo rolled his eyes but he gave Jake a soft smile. "Thanks, baby." He murmured, almost shyly.
Jake felt his chest constrict at the sight. God, the things he would for for his cute boyfriend.
As Sunoo shuffled towards their room, Jake went to the bathroom to start drawing his boyfriend a bath. He filled the tub with warm water, checking the temperature to make sure it was just the right heat. He placed an array of colorful bath bombs, the stupidly sparkly ones his boyfriend liked so much. He also set up some flameless candles to help create an ambience and just because he was feeling extra, he decided to play some music as well.
He was busy scrolling through his phone for Sunoo's favorite playlist when he heard a giggle from behind. He turned and saw Sunoo looking at him in delight. "What's all this for?"
Jake flushed a little in embarrassment but he puffed his chest and pressed play on the playlist. He carelessly placed his phone on the counter before coming up to Sunoo, placing his hands on his hips. Sunoo raised his hands to loop it around his neck. "I wanted to treat you to make up for a bad day at work."
Sunoo chuckled. "You don't have to. I'm all good now." Jake shook his head, expression determined. "No, I want to. You deserve to be spoiled today."
"You're cute."
Jake smirked. "I try."
Sunoo rolled his eyes and then took a sidestep so he was further inside the bathroom and Jake was near the doorway instead. Then without any warning, he started to unbutton his work clothes. He glanced up at Jake, a coy smile on his lips. "I'll go and take a bath now. Unless..?" He murmured, voice lilting at the end.
Jake froze for half a second before he quickly whirled around and made a hasty exit. "I'll come back later with a change of clothes!" He yelled as he slammed the door shut.
He heard Sunoo laugh from behind the closed door and cursed. His boyfriend really knew how to tease him. He shook his head, trying to shake away his muddled thoughts. He couldn't afford to be distracted now. He was a man on a mission.
After composing himself, he quickly made his way to the kitchen to try and make dinner. Before meeting Sunoo, he had very limited experience in cooking. The only thing he was truly useful at was making ramyeon. But when they started dating, Jake decided to pick up cooking all in favor of Sunoo who was a bit of a foodie. It certainly paid to see his happy smiles and it was definitely useful for moments like this when he needed to cheer him up after a long day. Nothing really made Sunoo happier than a really good meal and for him, his boyfriend's happiness was all that matters.
Jake sifted through their cupboards, mentally planning out a short course. Satisfied with his chosen menu, he set his things out and began preparing everything he needed. He set out a pot to boil before making a quick exit so he could grab Sunoo some clothes. He gingerly knocked on the bathroom door before slipping inside.
He saw Sunoo submerged in the water, now an obnoxious ocean blue. He was stretched out languidly, head tipped back and eyes closed. When he heard Jake he slowly fluttered his eyes open. He watched him place the clothes on the counter right next to his phone. He met Jake's gaze and gave him a lazy smile. "Thanks."
Jake couldn't resist and stepped closer to drop a kiss to his forehead. "I'm making dinner. Come out when you're ready, okay?"
Sunoo hummed in response, eyes already closed again. Jake smiled fondly as he left, leaving him to soak a little more.
He continued to make dinner. He had made it halfway through the main dish when he felt arms slinking their way around his body. "What are you cooking?" Came the soft murmur.
Jake hummed distractedly. "Just pasta."
He received an appreciative noise in response. He expected to be left alone after that but the body that had come to wrap himself up all over him did not budge. Jake felt himself smile. "I can't exactly cook with you like this." He teased.
"I want to hug you." Came the petulant response.
"And I want to cook in peace." He retorted. "C'mon, go sit on the table. I'm just finishing the sauce. It'll be quick."
There was a huff before Sunoo finally let go of him and sat on the table. He had already laid out their utensils so all Sunoo had to do was sit and wait. He placed his head on his hand, watching as Jake made quick work around the kitchen.
"My boyfriend looks so hot like this." He drawled out.
Jake laughed as he finished plating the pasta. He placed it in front of Sunoo, watching as his boyfriend made a happy noise at the sight. "This looks good."
"I hope it tastes good." He joked.
Sunoo giggled. "I'll eat this well." he said as he excitedly took the first bite.
"Like it?" Sunoo had his brows furrowed as he assessed the taste. His expression changed as he nodded in approval. "I really love it."
Jake smiled, relieved. "Good."
Dinner was a quiet affair. The two of them ate in comfortable silence, broken only by Jake's random anecdotes from his own work and Sunoo's laughter. When they finished, Jake was fast to push his boyfriend out of the kitchen and away from cleaning duty. "I told you, I'd spoil you today." He chided.
Sunoo frowned at this but Jake simply smiled and placed a short kiss on his forehead. "Go and pick out a movie, your choice."
Sunoo pursed his lips. "I'm picking the first horror movie I see."
Jake shuddered. "Fine."
"You're really serious about spoiling me today."
"Of course. Now get your ass out of here so I can clean up already."
When Jake finished he saw Sunoo already ready on the couch. A movie was on pause on the tv screen —thankfully not horror and he had a huge pile of blankets and pillows. As soon as Sunoo saw him, he opened his arms wide in a silent plea for cuddles.
Jake was a simple man. He dove in and wrapped his arms around Sunoo. He heard his boyfriend giggle as he shifted him around so they could be comfortable. They ended up having to shuffle around for a good minute when Jake accidentally tangled them up in the sheets. Sunoo was quietly laughing before he had enough of Jake's awkward fumbling and fixed the sheets himself.
"You're so dumb sometimes." Sunoo muttered with no malice in his voice.
"I'm sorry. I was just built like this." Jake sniffed in mock offense. Sunoo huffed out a laugh, shaking his head in disbelief. He reached out for the remote to play the movie before settling back in Jake's embrace.
They were ten minutes in when he felt Sunoo shuffle around so he could tuck himself into Jake's side, arms coming around to hug him. Jake lazily thumbed through the small sliver of skin that peeked through beneath his boyfriend's sweater. They continued to watch the movie that way until Sunoo leaned back and softly called out to him.
"Hey, baby?" Jake hummed in acknowledgement, glancing over to Sunoo who was staring up at him. "Yes?"
Sunoo smiled. "I love you."
Jake felt his chest explode with warmth as he mirrored Sunoo's smile. "I love you too."
He didn't know who moved first but all he knew was that in the next minute, he felt the soft press of Sunoo's lips against his. They kissed languidly for a long while, the movie temporarily forgotten. He felt Sunoo sigh contentedly into the kiss before he broke it off to place his head on his shoulder. Jake brought his hand up to brush through his hair, the way he knew Sunoo liked because it helped him relax.
He figured it must have worked better than he expected because soon enough, Sunoo was slowly nodding off to sleep. Jake noticed this so he gently moved Sunoo to sit up as he went to pause the movie.
"Should we head to bed already?" He asked, even though he already knew the answer.
Sunoo drowsily nodded his head and Jake took secret satisfaction at the sight of a sleepy Sunoo. His boyfriend looked way too adorable, almost like a grumpy kitten.
"Let's clean up and head to bed then." He said. He turned off the tv and gathered the small mountain of pillows and blankets so he could place them back in their room.
He found Sunoo in the bathroom, already starting his bedtime routine. The two of them silently finished washing up.
When they finally hit the bed, Sunoo was more than ready to go to sleep. But before he could slip into unconsciousness, he turned to Jake and with a pout, requested he spooned him.
And that's how they ended up with Jake as the big spoon, cuddling his boyfriend who was already more than halfway asleep.
Jake let out a soft laugh as he stared at his boyfriend's sleeping face. He really would do anything for him. He placed a soft kiss to his forehead, murmuring quiet admissions of love that only he would ever know about.
He pulled Sunoo closer to him, holding him tight. Slowly, he felt his lids grow heavier until he, too, fell asleep. If in the morning he woke up to sweet kisses, he could only think, damn he was lucky.
