Work Text:
Kojiro had been used to his husband coming to the restaurant every night for many years to get free food and wine. But now he had also started to get used to the fact that his three teenage friends spent most of their evenings at the restaurant —and if Shadow hadn’t been working, he would also sign up to be there with them for sure—.
That afternoon, like so many others, Miya was sitting at one of the tables doing homework, while Reki and Langa were entertaining themselves with each other. Reki had apparently taken a liking to braiding Langa's hair, and that caught Kojiro's eye. Reki was a boy of many talents, but still seeing the intricate updo he gave Langa almost effortlessly surprised him.
“Wow, you're very good at this.” Kojiro commented, approaching their table.
Reki rubbed his nose, smiling sheepishly, as he always did when he was trying to hide his embarrassment at being complimented.
“Well, I have three little sisters, you end up getting some practice over the years.” He explained with a shrug.
He thought about how many times Kaoru complained about how annoying it was that he didn’t know how to do pretty updos other than ponytails, and then Kojiro had an idea.
“Would you teach me how to do braids?” Kojiro asked.
Reki looked at him in surprise, but ended up smiling broadly, nodding enthusiastically.
“Of course, dude!”
A few days later, both Kojiro and Kaoru had the day off, and they decided to spend it at home just chilling.
Kaoru was dressed in one of Kojiro's shirts. It was huge for him and Kojiro loved that. Whenever he saw his husband wearing his clothes, he wanted to hug him and never let him go.
“What do you want to do?” Kojiro asked his husband.
Kaoru stretched out on the sofa and sighed dramatically. Mr. Midnight, their black kitten, meowed dramatically as well, mimicking his father. Kojiro laughed.
“Nothing, really. After all the work I've done this week I just want to exist.” Kaoru said.
Kojiro squatted down beside Kaoru and caressed his cheek lovingly.
“Well, then it's the perfect time to show you something I've been learning, because you won't have to do anything.” Kojiro said, grinning.
Kaoru looked at Kojiro suspiciously.
“Is it a massage? I wouldn't say no to a massage right now.” Kaoru closed his eyes, smiling.
“No, it's not a massage, but I can give you one later too. Come on, sit in a chair and I'll show you.” Kojiro said excitedly.
Kaoru stood up smiling, feeling in his own body Kojiro's enthusiasm.
“Are you going to give me a lap dance?” Kaoru asked with a lopsided grin, sitting down on a chair and crossing his legs.
Kojiro barked out a laugh.
“That wasn't in my plans, but I can do it too if you want.” Kojiro replied with a wink.
Kojiro went in search of a hairbrush and hair ties, and when Mr. Midnight saw the hair ties in his other father's hand, he chased him playfully attacking his leg.
“Ouch! This is not for you, you little brat.” Kojiro patted his feline son's tiny head, almost getting his hand bitten along the way.
“What are you gonna do with that?” Kaoru asked when he saw what Kojiro had brought.
Kojiro smiled widely. He began to brush his husband's hair gently.
“Reki taught me how to do braids, and I wanted to braid your hair.” he explained.
Kaoru turned his face so he could look at his husband, gazing at him with bliss.
“Will you make me pretty updos?” Kaoru asked.
Kojiro laughed and kissed the top of his head.
“Yes, I can even do Elsa's braid for you.”
“Elsa… from Frozen?” Kaoru asked.
Kojiro tried not to laugh.
“Yeah, Reki says it's the most requested braid among his little sisters. Do you want me to transform you into the ice queen?” Kojiro asked with a smirk.
“Of course I want to, I'm sure it will look great on me.” Kaoru turned around again and lifted his chin smugly.
“I have no doubt about it.” Kojiro replied with a smirk.
He continued brushing Kaoru's hair, making sure there were no tangles left in the way. He put a hair tie on his wrist, and patiently began to take strands of hair and braid them as Reki had taught him.
It was much easier to braid Kaoru's hair than Langa's since his husband had his hair much, much longer. But that didn't mean it was less difficult to make it look as good as he'd liked. Very slowly the braid began to take shape and although it wasn't looking perfect, Kojiro was very happy and proud with the result he was getting.
“Am I tightening it too much?” Kojiro asked worriedly.
“No, you're doing it perfectly.” Kaoru replied, encouraging his husband.
Kojiro smiled with satisfaction and continued.
When Kojiro was done, he rested the braid on Kaoru's shoulder and set the brush down on the table.
“Done!” Kojiro announced excitedly.
Kaoru got up and went to look at himself in a mirror. When he returned he had a mischievous smile on his lips.
“Thank you for transforming into Elsa, my kind hairdresser.” Kaoru said jokingly, making Kojiro laugh.
Kojiro took out his cell phone and prepared the camera.
“Turn around, I want to take a picture of the braid”
Kaoru turned around and Kojiro snapped a photo, immediately sending it to their friends. The first to answer was Miya.
“Wow, how much Elsa has changed."
Kojiro laughed out loud seeing how Kaoru frowned at Miya's message.
Next came a message from Reki.
“Dude, I’ll let you know that you just became my sisters' new favorite princess.”
Kojiro laughed even louder seeing how his husband didn't know whether to feel offended or flattered.
“But Elsa is a queen, not a princess.” Miya corrected him.
As soon as Shadow saw the photo, he tried to annoy Kaoru by continuing with Elsa's joke, but he recognized that it looked very good on him.
“Don't listen to them, babe, your beauty is far superior to any Disney princess or queen.” Kojiro stated with conviction, hugging Kaoru from behind tightly.
“As long as it is for you, That’s enough for me.” Kaoru said, and Kojiro didn't need to look at him to know that he was pouting.
Kojiro turned his husband around so he could face him and gave him peck after peck until Kaoru smiled widely.
“You are the most beautiful man to walk on earth, and I will never get tired of reminding you of that.” Kojiro said fondly, lifting Kaoru's face so that their gazes could meet.
Kaoru looked away, smiling sheepishly.
“Well, it's not like I'm going to get tired of listening to it, so you can remind me as many times as you want.” Kaoru said, playing coquettish.
“I will.” Kojiro answered with conviction and a big smile.
“Can I have now that massage you promised me earlier?” Kaoru asked, looking pleadingly at his husband.
Kojiro laughed, hugging Kaoru even tighter.
“Of course.”
And after a good massage and making Kaoru a plate of carbonara for dinner, Kojiro decided that the best way to end the day was watching Frozen, and although Kaoru crossed his arms pretending to be indignant, Kojiro was not going to tell anyone that his husband knew the lyrics of Let it go by heart and how much he enjoyed singing it. Kojiro felt very lucky to have the privilege of seeing Kaoru in such a carefree way; so happy. And as selfish as it sounded, he liked to think that that side of Kaoru was just for him. Kojiro smiled, thinking that just having Kaoru by his side made him the luckiest man in the universe.
