Work Text:

As some kind of other worldly being and mostly immortal Aether wasn’t too keen on the idea of being tied to one person forever.

Why would he do that when there is so much beauty in all different kinds of people.

Teyvat was an amazing example of beauty. The land was incredible, the nations seemed to be built with such patient architecture, and the people who lived in them? Only the most beautiful.

In mondstadt his first encounter with someone who caught his attention was none other than Kaeya Alberich, the Cavalry Captain of the Knights Of Favonius.

The mans skin was dark, much tanner than his sworn brother. The way it complimented his dark blue hair was an incredible thing in of itself. His mystery and smooth talking was enough to get the traveler talking to him.

“Kaeya, is it?”

The bluenette looked up from his work to see the golden haired man standing in the doorway to his office. “Yes, it is, and I don’t believe I caught your name traveler” Kaeya smiled as he set down his pen, pausing his work to talk.

“It’s Aether” He nodded, taking the man's actions as an invitation into the room. He stepped in, letting the door fall shut behind him.

Kaeya hummed, “That’s very pretty” He leaned forward to show he had his full attention on the conversation.

“Well thank you” Aether walked over to the desk finally. “I wanted to ask if you could go to angels share with me tonight” He offered, glancing around the office.

“Yes of course, what better welcoming to Mondstadt than a drink” Kaeya smiled at the blonde.

With Kaeya things with romantic advances were fast, always blunt and straight to the point.

“Your eyes are gorgeous” Kaeya lifted his drink and took a sip. He was sitting across from Aether at a table in the corner of the tavern.

“I wish I could say the same for you but I can only see one” Aether joked.

Kaeya rolled his eyes, smile on his face.

“What even is the eyepatch for”

“Oh nothing” It wouldn’t be for a while till Aether actually learned anything about the man.

He found beauty in that fact. Kaeya liked to keep his life to himself at first. Using his small talk and smooth voice to communicate in the beginning.

“Hm” Aether dropped it.

The night went by quickly, drinks and laughing, not so subtle flirting until their date ended and they went their own ways.

The two went on an official date next time, starting with a nice meal at good hunters then a small tour around the city from Kaeya despite Aether already knowing his way around.

Aether was looking wherever Kaeya was pointing when he felt an arm slip around his waist. He glanced down at the hand before looking over at Kaeya. “What’s with the hand?”

“Hm? What hand?” Kaeya acted clueless, not caring if the people stared even though now it might me more obvious that the two were on a date.

“Oh you are so dumb”

“Well now traveler, that’s quite rude”

Aether hummed, “What’s rude?” He smiled innocently up at the man. If you asked the traveler he would’ve sworn that he saw a light pink against the tan skin in the moment.

Kaeya tugged Aether closer as they continued to walk, “Youre lucky you’re cute” He leaned down to whisper before quickly continuing the tour, pointing in some new direction with his free hand.

Eventually the sun started to set and the two found themselves at the entrance to Mondstadt surrounded by small shops and a few people, probably drunk, who were still out.

“So, how would you rate the tour?” Kaeya tugged lightly on Aethers hand to stand in front of him. He took both of his hands into his own

Aether tilted his head as he pretended to put a lot of thought into it. “It was incredible, five stars”

“Only five?”

“That’s the max, dummy”

Kaeya hummed, “Can I kiss you?”

“In public?” Aether asked quietly, his tone making it obvious he had no issue with it.

“That’ll make it all the more special”

Aether only had to nod before Kaeya was quick to move his arms to his waist, dipping him slightly as he connected their lips in a sweet kiss.

Aether moved his hands to rest against Kaeya's chest, hearing some people gasp, some talk, he ignored it all.

Kaeya pulled away only an inch. “And how would you rate that?” He whispered, his words for Aether and Aether only.

Aether only hummed, quickly moving his head forwards and connecting their lips again, the kiss this time was only a peck but was enough for Kaeya to know how he felt.

For weeks after, Aether wasn’t able to walk through Mondstadt without hearing the whispers.

‘Do you know about the traveler and the cavalry captain?’

‘The honorary knight and Kaeya are in a relationship?’

‘I didn’t think he’d be gay’

‘upsetting that the cavalry captain swings that way’

Kaeya’s pride for him made it so worth it. So he walked through the city with his head high and his chest puffed out.

Kaeya was his first love in Teyvat and he was sure he’ll be one he remembers.

It was some time after that when he met another man who caught his attention.

“Is that the guy we saw in the woods when we first came here?” Paimon asked, pointing to the bard that Aether would get to know very well.

“Hm, it is” Aether watched as the bard started to walk away. He was quick to follow.

His following of the bard sent him on a long journey, fighting Dvalin and saving Mondstadt. Soon after he found the time to talk to him, actually talk.

“So, the Anemo Archon huh?” Aether walked over to the man who was sitting under the tree; he could often be found at this spot if he wasn’t in some tavern.

“Oh hello traveler” Venti greeted cheerfully. “Guess i’m bad at keeping it a secret” He laughed.

“Yeah we all know” Aether only smiled at the man.

The two quickly bonded. Aether couldn’t have said he saw himself pursuing the bard before getting to know him but he quickly came to appreciate him. His exciting personality and free spirit were things he could definitely get used to.

Things were slower moving with Venti. They bonded over their almost immortality, being around for a lot and experiencing so much. It wasn’t months till one of them made some sort of romantic gesture.

The two were seated in the hands of the Anemo Archon statue. Venti had just got done telling the story of an old friend, opening a bottle of wine.

“Can I hold your hand?” Aether asked quietly.

Venti didn’t say anything, simply held out his hand for Aether to take as the blonde sat down next to him.

They sat like that for a while, sharing a drink and watching the stars. For once Venti was completely quiet as he enjoyed the moment. They continued to not say a word as they parted for the night, simply waving and walking away.

It was only after that moment that Aether really started to see something in the bard. The next time they saw each other Aether did his best to take in every detail of the man. His blue and green eyes resembled the color of the wind, his dark hair and the way it framed his face with the braids. The archon always seemed to bring a nice breeze wherever he went, making even the hottest of days a bit more bearable.

“Where are we going?” Aether asked, glancing at the hand Venti had grabbed. The bard didn’t say anything before starting to run. “Venti!” he yelped.

“Oh be quiet, I know where i’m going”

Aether laughed, “That’s not what i’m worried about”

Soon enough they were running up Starsnatch cliff, they had been walking around the area for a while, collecting stuff as they talked.

“Here” Venti let go of the travelers hand before running up ahead.

Finally Aether slowed to a walking pace as he followed. He watched as Venti ran over to a small group of Cecilia flowers.

Venti quickly examined the flowers before picking one and starting to walk back to Aether, meeting him halfway.

“Here, a gift to properly show my affection, traveler” Venti lifted a hand and gently cupped the blonde's face before slipping the stem of the flower behind his ear.

Aether smiled, feeling tears prick at his eyes from the gesture. It was simple and sweet.

“Oh come now, don’t cry, Aether” Venti let his hands fall, instead taking Aethers hand into his own as they continued to walk up the slope.

They reached the edge of the cliff before they both took a seat, looking out over the edge.

Venti pointed down to the beach, “That’s where I first saw you”

“Oh?”

Venti laughed, “Yes, I was there, didn’t approach you” he sighed. “You” He turned his head to look at Aether. “Leave me speechless, which if you couldn’t tell by now is quite the odd experience for me. Your beauty can only be described as ethereal, both inside and out.”

Well now Aether really felt like crying, but that's how it was with Venti. Sweet words, songs sung about him, he was quite the romantic.

“Now you’re crying again” Venti sighed, one of endearment as he started lifting a hand to wipe away the tear that Aether had let escape, an empathetic smile on his face.

“You’re just super sweet, gonna start giving me cavities” The two laughed at the comment.

“Traveler” Venti started, “Can I kiss you”

There go the tears, this was such a scene. The sun was setting behind them, the moon peaking above the horizon as it brought the stars with it.

“Of course” Aether answered like it was the most obvious thing in all ov teyvat.

Venti simply grabbed Aethers hand before pressing a quick sweet kiss to his lips.

“You are incredible” Venti whispered, thumb rubbing circles on his knuckles.

“I could definitely say the same for you” Aether smiled, leaning his forehead against Ventis.

They never did anything more than sweet peppered kisses but it was enough for the both of them. Their time spent together was nice, they could spend hours together in silence or only sometimes silence.

His next love was quite similar, the artistic type. Albedo.

“this p-place is so c-cold” Paimon shivered next to Aether.

So he took her in under his arm, trying his best to keep her warm. They were in Dragonspine on a commission.

“Too cold” Paimon continued to poof out of existence, as she did.

Aether only laughed as he continued to make his way through the snow covered mountain alone. Soon enough he came across the familiar broken bridge, using his wind glider to get across.

He peeked his head around the corner and saw the alchemist standing at one of his few tables covered in some equipment. This isn’t why he was here but he was almost immediately intrigued by the man when they first met. So he was going to take the time to get to know him as best he could.

His monotone voice was smooth, making him sound as sophisticated as he appeared. He had pale skin from his lack of leaving the mountain along with beautiful light blonde, almost white, hair to go with. His bright blue eyes were a contrast but made him seemingly fit in perfectly with the snowy area he spent so much time in.

“Hello” Aether greeted as he started to walk into the small hole in the side of the mountain.

Albedo turned around, a very faint smile on his face at the sight “Hello Traveler” He set down his clipboard as he started to walk over to him. “Are you here for anything?”

“Oh no, i’m here for a commission, thought I’d come say hi and see if you needed anything, maybe some company” Aether suggested the last one a bit quietly, he had made a few previous attempts to flirt with the man but it always seemed to go over his head.

“Oh, some company would be nice,” Albedo answered. “You don’t have to stay longer than you need.” With that, he turned and went back to his work.

Aether smiled as he took a seat on the one stool Albedo had at his lab, looking around at the place to look for anything new. The canvas in the corner had a new painting on it, it looked like a picture from the last time the two were together.

The painting showed a scene from Dragonspine, a cliff looking over snow covered ground. In the middle of the painting was Aether, back to the painting but head turned to his side profile, outfit painted in surprising detail.

“I like your new painting, when did you do it?” Aether asked, turning his attention to Albedo.

“Oh” The man glanced back at it, “after you left that day” He answered simply.

“It’s very pretty”

“I thought it was quite the sight” Albedo sighed, not a hint of sadness, or much of anything, in his voice. “You seem to shine even brighter in Dragonspine”

Aether hummed. “Could you elaborate?” he asked quietly.

Albedo hummed back, setting down what he was working on before walking to the traveler. “You’re very bright by yourself, you seemed to be an embodiment of the sun, though impossible it is a good description. But seeing you against the white background made you stand out more than I've seen before” He lifted a hand to bring it under Aethers chin, gently guiding him to turn his head and tilt it up. “Your side profile is almost perfect”

Aether could feel himself holding a breath as he was being examined.

Albedo moved his hand to lightly grip his chin, turning his head again. He hummed before letting his hand drop, “You should let me do an actual painting of you sometime”

“Definitely”

Albedo smiled at Aether before getting back to his work.

The rest of Aethers time there was spent in mostly silence. Albedo worked and he watched. It was a simple relationship they had and nothing went much further than pining for the majority of it. They really liked to spend time together, not doing much.

One day, weeks later, Aether had gone up to Dragonspine on Albedo's request.

“Hello” He greeted cheerfully as he approached the lab.

“Oh Aether, you’re here” Albedo walked over, a faint smile on his face.

“What did you need me for?”

Albedo was hesitant to speak. “I wanted to ask if you would like to go on a walk around dragonspine,” He said simply.

Aether almost laughed, “You had sucrose come to Mon telling me to come here to ask to go on a walk?”

“Precisely”

“Any specific reason? Need to find anything?”

“No,” He turned to go back into his lab. “Just wanted to walk, I figured it would be a nice calming activity to do” He came back with a jacket that matched Aethers outfit. “Your presence is a” He hummed, handing the jacket to him. “It helps me recharge”

Aether looked at the jacket for a moment before putting it on. Feeling a heat come to his face at the simple words Albedo had said. “Your presence helps me recharge too” He responded honestly. “Where is this jacket from?”

“I made it for you, you always wear only a crop top I figured you’d get quite cold up here, it could probably come in handy again some day”

Aether smiled, and if he were anyone else he would’ve missed the small smile that Albedo had returned.

Albedo held out a hand for Aether to take before they started walking.

Their walk was quiet, the noises from Dragonspine were enough to fill the silence. They enjoyed each other's existence for almost an hour before they came to a stop. Stopping at a spot high up on the mountain, the view overlooking Teyvat.

“You still need to keep your word and let me paint you”

“Next time bring your canvas and some paint” He lightly nudged Albedo, smiling at him.

“Aether” Albedo didn’t turn to look at him. “I might have had other reasons for asking for this walk”

“Yes?”

He finally turned to face the traveler, “I am not that good at words or expressing how exactly I am feeling, though you already know this, but I believe that after thinking that i’ve come to a conclusion”

Aether nodded along to show he was listening.

“I wanted to say that, I think I love you Aether” Albedo said, voice showing a hint of genuine emotion that was quite rare.

Aether was left to stare at the man for a moment, at a loss for words. They didn’t exactly come out of nowhere but he wasn’t expecting to say them really at all.

“It is okay if the feeling isn’t returned, it was simply the best way I could think to accurately tell you how I feel”

“I think I love you too Albedo” He finally said back, watching as Albedo smiled.

They were silent again for a while, enjoying the view before they eventually walked back to Albedos lab. They were walking for another hour before reaching their destination.

“I heard you were leaving for Liyue soon” Albedo said quietly, starting a small conversation before they had to part.

“I am” Aether sighed, noticing the small almost invisible signs on Albedos face that he was upset at that fact. “I’ll come up here before I have to leave” He promised.

“I appreciate it, please don’t go out of your way if you don’t have to”

Aether simply nodded, “Hug?”

“Hug.” Albedo was quick to grab one of Aethers hands before pulling him in for a hug. He wrapped his arms around Aethers shoulders and held him tight.

Aether did the same around his waist.

They both pulled away after a moment before saying parting words.

Aether did keep his word, going to dragonspine a few days before he had to leave to pose for a painting that Albedo would keep up in his lab after the blonde traveler left for Liyue. Their last day together was bittersweet, Aether almost regretted not doing more but he was sure it was enough.

So, he started on his way to Liyue. The people there had a different air than in Mon. The people in Liyue relied on business and contracts, but you knew if someone made a promise there that they meant it.

The first man Aether met in Liyue who caught his attention reminded him of his first love, a man who went by the name Childe. He differed from Kaeya in a lot of ways though.

Childe was fast paced and had an interesting way of showing his affection, things were also much more sensual with the ginger. Only on their second day of meeting Childe was treating Aether like a boyfriend.

“That will be nine hundred mora”

As Aether started to reach into his pocket he felt arms snake around his waist from behind, elbow nudging his hand away from his money. He turned his head to be met with lifeless blue eyes and dark red hair. “Childe”

“Oh don’t sound so upset” Childe lifted his head up from where he rested it on Aethers shoulder, standing up straight to talk to the lady behind the counter. “I’ll be paying, give me a moment” He removed a hand from around Aethers waist to get out his own wallet.

Aether could only sigh, tilting his head up to look at Childe. “You’re annoying”

“Come now, you know you don’t mean that” He waved to the lady before leading Aether away as they started walking.

“Maybe I do” He teased, watching as Childe rolled his eyes. The action caused him to laugh.

“You’ve only known me for two days, that’s not enough time to figure out that”

“I could say the same for you, touchy”

“Hm”

“That’s what I thought” Aether smiled, proud of himself. Despite their banter he did quite like Childe.

It was an almost immediate feeling for him. Childe had helped him escape the millith that day. Aether was quick to notice the high energy, smug, and somehow protective feeling Childe gave off. He always brought out something in Aether, making him competitive and quick with comebacks. They bounced off each other incredibly.

“Where are you even taking me?” Aether asked after a moment. “This could be considered kidnapping”

“You’re the annoying one I think” Childe shot back, “We’re just going on a little date”

“Didn’t even ask me out, maybe I would say no”

“Aw, the traveler would turn down my offer of free food and a romantic night with the one and only Tartaglia”

Aether hummed, basically throwing his head against Childe's chest behind him. “I wouldn’t”

“You love me”

“That’s a strong word,” Aether simply laughed.

As Childe said, he took Aether out on a really nice date. A fancy restaurant, a walk around the city, then a few drinks before the night ended.

The next week Aether spent his time trying to figure out Childe’s love language since it was complicated. He eventually came to the conclusion that Childe tended to express his emotions in a way that he could easily back out of if they werent reciprocated, well, that and fighting.

Anyone would think fighting means playful bickering or arguing but for Childe it meant weekly sparing and maybe some near death experiences. They motivated each other to do better in a way that was more than effective.

So this exciting energy and newly learned love language is what landed Aether in that open field, knee on Childes chest as his sword was near his throat.

“I win again”

“Kiss me” Childe’s voice sounded weak and out of breath from the long fight that just happened.

“Oh you’re sick”

Childe hummed, “I take that as a yes.” He reached up and grabbed the collar of Aethers shirt before pulling him close. “Is it a yes?” He asked quietly.

“Yes”

“Thank god” Childe pulled him that extra inch and was fast to connect their lips.

Aether pulled away, “You sound desperate” he mumbled before closing the gap between them again.

“Maybe I am,” Childe responded between kisses.

Aether pulled away entirely. “first time you’d admit to something like that” He watched as Childe attempted to lift his head, feeling the cold of a sword still on his throat. “Oh? You stuck?”

“Jokes on you I think this is hot” Childe joked, or kind of joked. Okay maybe it wasn’t a joke.

“Of course you do” He pressed the side of his sword down further. He only raised an eyebrow as he watched Childe's breaths become more shallow as he closed his eyes.

The ginger hummed, grabbing the hand Aether had on his sword. “This is kind of in my way” He turned his hand, sliding the weapon out of Aethers hand before tossing it to the side.

“You’re” Aether sighed, taking his knee off Childe’s chest to instead straddle his waist. “A dork”

Childe started laughing, the sound was liquid sunshine. “No ones ever said that before”

“It’s true” Aether rested his hands on Childe’s chest.

They stayed in the same position for a while, continuing with their banter and maybe making out until eventually they got up. They spent the rest of the day and surprisingly night together. Maybe going a bit further than either of them had intended but they had no issues with it at all.

It was the next morning when he woke up with Childe, head resting on the ginger's chest, the mans hands in his unbraided hair.

“You’re awake”

Aether hummed, turning his head and burying it further into Childe’s chest. Maybe he differed from Kaeya in that way too, things were moving much more quickly. He felt Childe’s hum vibrate through his chest, causing him to lift his head up, resting his chin where it had been.

“You have to walk around Liyue with everyone knowing you’re mine”

Aether lifted his eyebrow, parting his lips to talk before Childe put a finger over his mouth.

“For now, I know”

Aether hummed, pecking the finger that was still on his lips. “Plus, I don’t think it’s anything I can’t hide” He sat up, pressing a kiss to Childe’s lips this time.

Childe simply hummed, putting his hands behind his head as he watched Aether stand from the bed, making it obvious that he was checking the blonde out.

“Oh keep your eyes to yourself” He threw a pillow at Childe as he decided to grab the mans shirt, quickly slipping it on before walking over to the mirror. “Holy” he tilted his head up.

Childe only laughed, throwing the blanket off himself before he stood. He walked up behind the blonde, slipping one hand around his waist, one over his shoulder as he grabbed Aethers chin. He gently guided him to tilt his head up and to the side, getting a good look at his work. “Can you hide it?”

“You’re such a whore” Aether mumbled. They both knew he couldn’t. He was covered in dark bruises and bite marks almost up to his jaw.

“And I know you love it” Childe whispered in his ear, sending a chill down his spine.

“I love you”

Childe’s eyes widened at the words, smiling as he pressed a kiss to the top of Aethers head “Thought that was a strong word”

Aether started to pout.

“Oh come on, I love you too”

During his entire stay in Liyue, Childe would be the one he could always come back to. Despite how he acted he sure was reliable.

The Geo Archon was the next man he happened to fall in love with. Though, he only ever got the chance after saving Liyue from his crazy ‘ex’. He will be having a talk with Childe.

“Hello Traveler”

Aether smiled as he walked up to the tall man. “Hello Zhongli”

Zhonglis small smile turned a bit sheepish, “Do you happen to have any mora to spare?”

Aether laughed. “Never gonna get used to it?”

Zhongli sighed, “I will eventually”

Aether hummed, “What about your walking wallet?”

“Normally he appears whenever I mention money problems”

“What do you need money for?” Aether watched Zhongli furrow his eyebrows.

“He also doesn’t ask so many questions” He mumbled, crossing an arm over his chest to put a hand on his chin.

Zhongli was the most genuinely sophisticated out of all of his loves. He had been an archon and adepti for so long and was only now going into retirement. Aether couldn’t imagine over five hundred years being the god of a nation. Not to mention the six thousand years prior that he had been alive.

“It’s for a meal, if you must know” He finally answered.

Aether hummed, the golden brown eyes of the other were practically begging him. “Could I eat with you then?” He offered, “Since I am paying”

“Oh of course, I wouldn’t mind the company” Zhongli smiled sweetly at Aether, holding his arm out.

“Well thank you” Aether hooked their elbows together.

The two probably looked like an old married couple as they walked into the restaurant. Except everyone would’ve assumed Zhongli would be the one covering the check with how Aether was clinging to his arm.

It wasn’t a terribly fancy restaurant but they were still seated by a nice waitress. She took their drink orders before leaving them to look at the menu.

She had sat them in an almost secluded booth in the corner, the two sat across from each other. Now Aether felt like they could really look like a married couple.

Aether set his menu down for a moment to examine the man across from him. He had a sharp jaw and hair that helped make it stand out. His hair went from a natural dark brown to a more orange brown at the ends. He hummed as he took in every detail he could.

“Aether?”

Hmm, and his voice, deep and smooth as honey. It was enough to make the rocks of the earth move.

Zhongli only tilted his head when he didn’t get a response.

“Oh sorry” Aether sank down in his seat sheepishly.

Zhongli let out a small laugh. “What were you looking at?”

“You”

The man looked confused, “Do I have something on my face?”

It was Aethers turn to laugh. “Oh no, you’re just” he hummed, thinking of a word. “Very elegant, it’s beautiful”

“Beautiful” Zhongli repeated quietly with a small smile on his face. “You’re also quite physically appealing”

“Well thank you” The two exchanged soft smiles before looking back to their menus.

They soon ordered and spent their dinner eating and talking with each other.

“So the entire thing was planned?” Aether asked, taking a bite of his food.

“Yes” Zhongli answered simply. “I figured it was the best way to see if Liyue was ready to rule itself without an Archon”

“I get that, actually, it makes sense” Aether nodded.

Zhongli let out a small laugh. “Are you being genuine? I cannot tell at times”

“Oh I am” He assured, making sure he sounded genuine. “You really care about Liyue, wanted to make sure they were ready”

Zhongli nodded in agreement. “I was also ready to relax”

Aether hummed.

Their night continued just like that. They talked like old friends and looked like a couple who had been married for quite a few years. In fact, people had started asking the traveler about it once word started getting around.

“How long have you and Zhongli been together?” Someone asked one day.

Aether had to keep himself from laughing, the two hadn’t even talked about anything romantic yet. “Oh, we aren’t together”

“Oh that’s such a shame, you two are cute” The lady smiled before taking the lotus head Aether had brought her.

“Well thank you ma’am” He smiled and she thanked him before he was on his way. It wasn’t the first time he was asked a similar question. It also wasn’t the first time he ran into Zhongli immediately after. His nose almost hit the man's chest.

“Aether” Zhongli took a step back.

“Oh hello, where did you come from?” He simply laughed as he took his own step back, looking up at him.

“How many times have you been asked that question?”

“A few, why do you ask?” Aether started to walk, he had another commission to get to.

“Have you ever,” He paused, starting to walk along with him. “Thought about getting involved in a romantic relationship with me?” The question was quiet, sounding a bit shy. It was a change from the man's deep unbreakable voice.

Aether turned his head purely to raise an eyebrow at Zhongli. “Any special reason you’re asking?”

“Oh no big reason”

He hummed. “Is there an issue if I have?”

“Not at all”

“Have you thought about it?”

“I can’t say I haven’t”

“Give me a moment” He turned to a young boy, asking if he was the one who put up the commission for some simple flowers.

“I’m gonna give these to my mom, thank you traveler”

“No problem, tell her I hope she’s doing well” He smiled at him before the kid ran away. He sighed before turning back to Zhongli. “Are you asking me to be your boyfriend?”

“I know you don’t really do that”

“Spoken to Childe?”

“I have, I know you’ve been with him and continue to,” Zhongli cleared his throat. “I simply wanted to ask before making any advances with you”

“That’s very sweet of you, my answer is I am okay with any advances you want to make”

“Really?”

“I am quite interested in you”

Zhongli seemed surprised, a faint pink could be spotted against his skin. “I’m interested in you too,” Zhongli sighed. “It’s been a long time since i’ve felt this way”

Aether could only give an empathetic smile.

Things were smooth and slow with Zhongli. They talked about anything and everything. Same as Venti they bonded over their long lives. They talked like old friends and acted like they had been together for a long time.

“Thank you for coming here with me,” Zhongli smiled.

They were sitting on the top of a mountain at a stone table in the middle of the flat land. Adepti abodes were always a sight Aether wanted to see.

“Of course, I love spending time with you”

Zhongli only hummed as he lifted his cup of tea, taking a sip.

“This place is very pretty”

“It is something to see”

“You don’t sound as excited as me”

He hummed again, “I believe we see things differently. I’ve been to this place a number of times before, I guess it has lost the element of surprise”

Aether nodded as he reached across the small table, hand waiting for Zhonglis.

The other man smiled as he gently took Aethers hand into his own. He lifted the hand, pressing a quick kiss to his knuckles.

Things were quiet for a while as the two drank some tea. The sounds of nature filling the silence. Quiet moments might be rare with the two but they were always really nice. It gave Aether time to admire the man across the table.

“You look at me a lot” Zhongli pointed out, eyes staring back at Aether as he set down his own cup.

“Handsome”

“Hm” He leaned against the table. “Thank you Aether, you really are very sweet.”

“No need to sound so professional”

Zhongli only laughed, “I don’t think I know how to not be” He smiled, “It’s how it’s been for so long, Childe was trying to show me how to use slang? I don’t understand it that well. Is there something wrong with the way I talk?”

“No, not at all, it’s nice to listen to, easy to understand” Aether assured. “In fact, don’t even listen to Childe”

Zhongli gave the blondes hand a squeeze, “I can’t exactly do that, we spend a lot of time together and he is my partner. I’m glad I have the both of you”

“I’m glad I have you too, and Childe”

The two sat there for a while longer before they went back to Liyue. The entire way back Aether asked questions about random things they saw and let Zhongli ramble and explain them.

They had only ever kissed under certain circumstances, and only a few times but walks home were one.

Aether was lifting his free hand to point at another ruined building before he felt Zhongli press a quick kiss to his cheek causing him to lose track of his thoughts.

“Oh i’m sorry, go on” Zhongli stood back straight up.

Aether laughed, “Well i’ve forgotten now” he leaned his head on the arm as he clung to it.

“You just looked very” He hummed, “Cute, you have this spark in your eye when you learn about new things. It’s something I really appreciate in you, you never seem to get tired of the sights and the people in this world. In fact it seems like you could get excited over something you’ve seen hundreds of times before”

“That’s not far from the truth, I guess I just like appreciating things no matter what”

“I hope i’m able to learn how to do the same” Zhongli sighed as he let his head lean on Aethers.

They finally reached Liyue and arrived at wherever Childe was staying.

“I assume you have to leave?” Zhongli turned back at the door to face Aether.

“I do, not only is tonight for you two, paimons getting quite upset that I've been using you as a teyvat guide” Aether laughed as he looked up at Zhongli, taking quick note of the soft expression on his face.

“Could I have a kiss before you leave?”

“You don’t have to ask anymore”

“I figured it was a good approach”

Aether hummed, taking the man's hands into his own and tugging him closer.

Zhongli laughed as he took a step forward, “You really are cute”

“Kiss me”

Zhongli smiled as he leaned down, connecting their lips in a sweet kiss, only lasting a few seconds.

Aether hummed.

The two said goodbyes before Zhongli entered the house. As Aether started walking away he heard the door open, feeling a hand grab the back of his shirt and pull him back.

“Aether, why not stay?”

It was Childe.

“This is you and Zhongli time, I have a paimon to get to”

“Oh come on, you could stay” He spun Aether around, bending so they were the same height. “We could have some fun, the three of us”

“You’ve been fucking the Geo Archon, scandalous” Aether laughed, pressing a kiss to the gingers cheek. “You’re just collecting immortals like they’re some card game”

“Not my fault I attract you guys”

“Go inside, i’m not leaving Liyue for some time”

Childe groaned, pecking the travelers lips before he ran back into the house.

Aether continued things as they were and didn’t exactly fall in love with anyone new or form any new relationships. That was until he finally noticed someone who had been trying to get his attention for quite a while.

“Oh, Xiao, I didn’t see you there”

“Yeah, didn’t expect you too” The Adepti was dark and closed off so it was a response Aether had expected.

“What’re you doing here?” They were in the middle of Liyue, a place with enough people you’d think it would drive Xiao away, as he was normally one to keep to himself.

Xiao coughed, standing straight up. “You should make me some more almond tofu. I liked it last time.”

“I didn’t think you’d remember that”

“I do”

Aether hummed, tilting his head. He didn’t know Xiao had been trying to get his attention for, well since they met.

Things were slower with Xiao than they had ever been with anyone else. It started with the yaksha asking random favors then eventually working up the courage to just ask for company. Aether couldn’t have stayed in Liyue long enough for them to get to fully know eachother but he did enjoy the time they had.

“Traveler”

“You can call me Aether”

“Aether” Xiao said slowly. “Would you like to join me at the Inn?” He had his arms crossed and wasn’t even looking at Aether but it was progress.

“Of course”

Xiao simply did his adepti thing and disappeared before Aether could say anything else. At this time Aether wasn’t sure what Xiao felt for him, he knew he felt intrigue for the beautiful and mysterious man. Xiao was harder to read and definitely had some issues trusting others, Zhongli was the only man he seemed to trust enough.

Either way he went to the Inn and went up the spot Xiao could often be found and sure enough he was there on the balcony.

“Hello” He greeted hesitantly.

“Hello” Xiao greeted back.

“So there’s no special reason you wanted me here?”

“Should there be?”

“Nope” Aether offered a reassuring smile as he walked over to the edge. “The view is beautiful”

“It’s something to look at” Xiao mumbled as he looked out over the edge.

Aether turned to look at him, he liked to catch glances whenever he could. He had golden eyes that contrasted the rest of his look. Dark blue hair, pale skin, green markings down his arms. Saying he was gorgeous was an understatement. Though, he might be hard to deal with sometimes. He was stubborn and kept to himself, since he was convinced that he brought back luck and bad karma to anyone who spent too much time around him.

“Could I hold your hand?” Aether asked quietly, being slow and patient with the other.

“Why would you want to do that?”

“It’s a nice gesture to show that i’m here and it’ll remind me you’re here”

Xiao hesitated before he held out his hand.

Aether smiled as he took it into his own, not intertwining their fingers but it was still nice.

They only spent a short time together and that’s how most of their time was spent, in silence, doing a simple thing like holding hands or standing a bit closer than normal.

Eventually, after more than a month Xiao got a bit more talkative but they never did anything more than hand holding or cuddling. It was a short lived almost romance and that seemed to be enough for the both of them.

“You’re trying to leave Liyue?” Xiao asked from his place between Aethers legs.

“Yeah, I have to leave eventually” He ran a hand through the mans dark hair. He was quite surprised to learn Xiao loved to be held. Though he would never say anything he always immediately took his place on Aethers lap, or between his legs, resting his head on the blondes chest.

Xiao was quiet for a moment, “I will miss you”

“I’ll miss you too, Xiao”

Then things were quiet, Xiao closed his eyes and finally let himself relax around another person.

“I’m proud of you” Aether mumbled.

“I haven’t done anything”

“You’re doing a lot” Was all Aether had to say and the world seemed to fall silent.

Xiao understood, he knew what was being said to him. In just the short amount of time they knew each other he had been more open and smiled a few times. Xiao was a bit like Albedo in some ways, quiet, not really able to express his emotions correctly. Unlike Albedo, though Xiao’s more than capable of it with some work, Albedo simply does his best to understand.

It was a few months before Aether would be leaving Liyue that he met the next man he would fall in love with.

“You’re trying to leave Liyue, correct?” Katheryn asked.

“Yeah, next place is Inazuma, I do have things to do” Aether sighed. “Wait, this is what i’m here to talk about?”

“Yes, we’ve found someone that’s able to help you get there” She smiled at him. “His name is Kaedehara Kazuha, you can meet him at the docks now”

“Thank you so much” He waved to her as he started to quickly make his way to the docks.

He arrived at the docks quickly and started to look around, his attention was immediately captured by the sight of a young man sitting on one of the wooden pillars. The wind in his hair as he played an instrument quietly to himself. He had light blonde hair, almost white with a red streak through it.

Before he knew it the man was getting off the short pillar and approaching him. He could feel his face starting to turn pink.

“Are you Aether?” The man asked.

Aether could only nod. His voice was soft and flowed like the wind.

“I’m Kazuha” The man held his hand out, palm turned upwards.

When Aether accepted the offer Kazuha lifted his hand and pressed a quick kiss to the back of hic knuckles.

“You’re trying to get to Inazuma?”

“Yes, yeah, that’s what i’m doing”

Kazuha laughed, “I don’t get why you would want to go there but I have connections with Captain Beidou, you’ve probably heard of her”

“Oh yes, haven’t gotten the chance to speak to her”

“She’s very sweet” Kazuha smiled. “Shall we be on our way?”

Kazuha was a poet like Venti and was good with his words like Kaeya. He wasn’t exactly that much of a flirt but some people definitely took it that way. He was just sweet and got along with everyone, or most people.

Kazuha took the time to introduce Aether to Captain Beidou and she started doing her best to arrange things.

It wouldn’t be months until Aether left for Inazuma. So he had enough time to spend with Kazuha, getting to know him.

A week into knowing Kazuha they did a lot together, even things Aether had surprisingly never done. Kazuha liked to adventure and find new areas, saying he went where the wind took him. Which is what landed them climbing one mountain to try and get a view of another.

“Woah” Aether exclaimed as they reached the top.

Kazuha simply smiled at the sight before sitting a bit away from the edge.

Aether quickly joined him.

“Aether”

“Yes?”

“Have you ever smoked?”

“Hm, depends what?”

“Just this plant that grows in Inazuma”

Aether shook his head. He had been offered a lot during his journey, he did accept it sometimes but it’s not like every world he went to had the same things.

“Would you like to?”

“Why not?” Aether smiled as he turned back to the view.

They spent almost a few hours on the top of the mountain and Aether fully understood why Kazuha disappeared for hours at a time. He would go on walks, get super high, and relax.

“By the way it’s called Naku Weed”

“What we just smoked?”

“Yes, it’s like, electric”

Aether laughed, “Is it purple?” To be honestly he didn’t get a good look at what he was being offered.

Kazuha nodded, a blank expression on his face.

“Really?” Aether could only laugh more.

“Yes! It’s purple, just like everything else there”

“I think it sounds pretty”

“Oh it’s gorgeous but it’s, i’m wanted there,” Kazuha laughed “and their Archon is troublesome”

They did this exact thing at least once a week, went to a new location and hung out for quite a while. It allowed them to get close very quickly.

“Traveler!”

Aether turned to see Kazuha walking over to him. As he waved Kazuha grabbed his hand and spun him around, ending in a dip.

“Are you busy?”

Aether hummed, “Not at the moment”

“Would you like to join me on an Adventure?” Kazuha lifted him up, not letting go of his hand. “We could go walk until the sun sets, under the stars, I could show you constellations and we could dance and talk until we see the sun peak over the horizon”

“Sounds like a date” Aether raised an eyebrow.

“Traveler”

“Aether”

Kazuha hummed, bowing down as he lifted the blondes hand to press a quick kiss to his knuckles. “Aether,” he corrected “would you like to join me on an adventure?”

“Of course” Aether laughed as Kazuha started to quickly drag him along as he walked.

Their night went just as Kazuha had described. They found a long trail to walk until the sun started to set, they then went off the trail and found a place to camp. Kazuha pointed out the stars, explaining every story and mythology he could think of. They danced for a while to a song Kazuha hummed.

Kazuha dipped Aether at the end of their dancing.

“Can I kiss you?” Aether asked, eyes full of stars as he stared up at Kazuha. He watched the mans face turn pink as he smiled.

“If you so wish”

“Hm” Aether tugged him down, connecting their lips as Kazuha did his best to keep him from falling to the ground.

It was a gentle kiss, Kazuha tilted his head for only a moment before he pulled away, pulling Aether straight up.

They were silent for a moment as they stared at each other.

“That wa-” They both started. “Sorry, you go” they continued to speak in unison until they started laughing.

“That was nice,” Kazuha finally said.

Aether hummed in agreement.

They two continued to calm down, sitting under where they had set up camp. They would then talk until they both fell asleep.

“Aether?”

“hm?” Aether turned his head to look at Kazuha, seeing the man laying next to him.

“Would you like to lay closer?” He opened his arms as he offered.

Aether smiled before sitting up and scooting over, gladly accepting the offer. He laid his head on Kazuhas chest as he felt the man's arms wrap around his waist.

Their night was amazing and it was far from the last time they would be seeing eachother.

“Traveler! You’re here” Beidou greeted happily, her voice was one Aether had gotten used to during his time spent with Kazuha. She was like a mother to him, despite his protests.

“Thank you so much for this Beidou” He smiled at her.

“Oh it’s no problem, my apologies for taking so long”

“I completely understand” They nodded at each other before Aether was free to roam the ship, quickly finding Kazuha. “Hello loverboy”

“My love” Kazuha quickly pulled him in for a kiss.

Aether hummed as they pulled away, “Are you sure you’re okay with going on this trip?”

“I can assure you I will be fine but I must tell you once we arrive I won’t be stepping off with you”

“That’s completely okay, wouldn’t want you getting arrested” Aether laughed as Kazuha dragged him towards the bow of the ship.

“I will be enjoying this last night as much as I can though” He whispered into Aethers ear as he stood behind him, arms around his waist.

He kept his promise, it was definitely a night Aether was going to remember.

The next day they were woken up by Beidou walking into the small room on the ship. Very small room.

“Traveler!” She stopped, staring at the men she had just woken up. “Kazuha?”

“Oh, hello Beidou” He sat up, tired and not taking in the situation she had just walked into.

Aether only buried his face into the pillow, lifting the small blanket to try and blindly cover Kazuha’s bare chest.

“Well, good job Kazuha”

The comment made him wake up fully. His face turned red quickly.

“Soooo,” Beidou started awkwardly “get ready, we’re in Inazuma”

Aether and Kazuha got up and ready before taking the time to say their goodbyes. Unlike Childe, Kazuha wasn’t making Aether walk into Inazuma looking as though he was attacked by a bear.

Soon enough he was indeed walking the streets of Inazuma with a man he didn’t take romantic interest in at first. Thoma.

Thoma was always there for Aether while he was in Inazuma, helping with money, cleaning, a place to stay. He was the best hosts one could ever ask for and Aether wasn’t even asking.

Despite not liking him immediately, Aether fell for Thoma fast and hard.

“Oh watch out!” Thoma exclaimed, grabbing Aethers hand and pulling him to his chest. “Almost fell off the edge there” He laughed.

Aethers eyes widened at the action, his heart racing and face heating up. Thoma had taken him out to have a picnic and show him a place these cats liked to gather. He had almost stepped off a tall ledge and into some water. “Oh, i’m, yeah, thank you, sorry sorry” He quickly took a short step back, making sure he didn’t almost fall again.

“Oh it’s no problem really, you’re lucky I saved you this time, next time I might not react so quickly. You need to watch where you step” Thoma ruffled his hair as he stepped around him to walk forwards.

That was the second Aether decided, ‘oh fuck, I like him’ He hummed as he followed closely behind.

“And we’re here” Thoma announced excitedly. He quickly pointed to a tree with a small bowl under it.

Aether reached out and grabbed the back of Thomas' shirt gently to stay close. “Do you think they like to gather here because you leave food for them?” Aether joked.

“Someone has to feed them” Thoma held his hand back the second he felt Aethers on his jacket.

Without a word Aether accepted the offer. He let go of Thoma’s jacket to instead take his hand as he led Aether closer to the tree.

“We can sit here and eat” Thoma offered as he let go of Aethers hand to take a seat in the grass under the tree.

“That sounds nice” Aether took a seat next to him as the cats in the area started to recognize the man who came to feed them.

Thoma put some food in the bowl as he began to point out the different cats. He introduced them each by the names he had given them.

Thoma was admirable in every way. Not only was he physically attractive, built body, perfect blond hair, bright green eyes and a smile that could melt anyone's heart. He was practically sunshine as a person, including his personality.

Thoma was caring, kind, and selfless. Not only towards other people but he loved animals and would go out of his way for any creature he came across. Thoma took care of everyone he could at any chance he got.

This also meant that Aether had no clue how Thoma felt about him. He was so kind to everyone so it was hard to pick up on differences, until a conversation with Ayaka.

“Oh, Thoma is so nice”

Aether nodded in agreement.

“Especially to you”

Aether tilted his head, “What do you mean?”

Ayaka hummed, “He seems to go out of his way for you more than others. He normally doesn’t let people sleep in his house as a start, and while he helps the estate with chores and anything else asked of him a lot of it extends to simply wanting to do good for others. He seems to have some personal reason for always doing things for you and Thoma never really does things for personal gain”

“Oh, wel-“ Before Aether could start making excuses, someone walked into the Komore Teahouse.

Thoma.

“Aether, Ayaka, Hello” He greeted cheerfully.

Ayaka glanced between the two with a smile as she took a sip of her tea.

Thoma raised an eyebrow at the girl but ignored it.

The three talked for only a few moments before Ayaka had things to attend to, leaving Thoma and Aether alone.

“Soo, Aether, do you have any plans for the day?”

“oh” He hummed, “I don’t believe so”

Thoma nodded as he turned in his seat to completely face Aether. “Would you like to go on a date with me?”

“A date?” Aether asked quietly.

“A date” Thoma confirmed. “If not that’s alright, you’ve mentioned your views on relationships in passing conversation and I completely understand”

He was genuine that’s all Aether needed to hear, “A date sounds nice”

Thoma smiled, “Well come on then” He stood up, grabbing Aethers hand before dragging him out of the Teahouse.

Aether laughed, “Wait, really? Right now?”

Thoma only nodded.

Their date had started in the middle of the day so Thoma decided to start with a walk around Inazuma. Going to the various shops and things to see, offering to buy anything Aether took a second glance at. He was a bit like Childe in the regards of money and how he spent it but he was nowhere as rich and normally attempted to get the price down before buying anything.

Their next activity was dinner, only stopping at one of the small shops to eat. The nice person behind the counter made their orders quickly. They ate and talked for a while until the night ended.

“Oh winter is pretty here” Thoma sighed, standing up from his seat.

Aether copied his movements, “Is it?”

“Gorgeous, I do just like the snow” He laughed.

“Hopefully I’ll be able to see some snow, winter is soon”

Thoma smiled as they started walking. “Um, Aether”

“Yes?”

“Would you like to stay at my house tonight? We could have some drinks to really end the night”

Aether thought for a moment, “That would be nice, the teapot doesn’t exactly sound like a place I want to be right now”

“You’re always welcome to stay with me whenever you want” Thoma gave him a sympathetic smile.

They continued their walk to Thomas' house. It wasn’t a long one but gave them enough time to have a short little conversation.

Thomas' house was always very clean and neat, everything had a place and was always there. It wasn’t anything fancy but it was a perfect reflection of who Thoma was. Aether was also very familiar with the place so he had no issue walking in and putting his shoes where they went, making himself at home on the couch as Thoma walked to the kitchen to grab their drinks.

“Unauthentic Dandelion Wine” Thoma joked as he walked into the living room with the bottle.

“Yeah?”

Thoma laughed as he nodded, setting the bottle and two glasses down. “You remember that shop I showed you?”

“Oh! Yeah, the one selling wines from Mondstadt”

Thoma hummed as he poured them both a glass.

That night Aether quickly learned that Thoma was a lightweight.

“So” Thoma started, “You're not like an archon or something right?”

Aether laughed and shook his head.

“Oh thank archons, I don’t know what id so if I asked an archon on a date” He sighed. “And they said yes” Thoma added, tossing his hands at the thought.

“I think an archon wouldn’t even be able to say no to you”

“Oh you’re just too nice”

“Too nice? That’s funny coming from you” Aether laughed again. He could hear the slurring in Thomas' voice, neither of them had too much to drink yet.

“What? Why’s that funny? You’re so frickin” He groaned, “You’re so selfless” Thoma let himself fall into Aethers side gently.

“Thoma you’re like one of the nicest people i’ve met”

Thoma looked over and up to make eye contact with him, “Oh i’m sorry” He quickly sat up, causing his vision to make the room spin.

“For what?”

“Oh I don’t know how to handle my alcohol”

“I can tell,” Aether laughed, resting a hand on his shoulder. “Think it’s time to sleep?”

Thoma hummed, “Thank you for today”

“Oh it’s no problem really, I should be thanking you for the amazing night plus you paid for everything”

“Shush, it’s the least I could do”

Aether watched as Thoma stood up, quickly putting a hand behind him without thinking.

“I’m sleeping, you can do what you need, you know where things are. If it’s uncomfortable you can join me in the bed, I don’t mind at all” Thoma leaned over and pressed a quick kiss to the top of Aethers head. “Again, thank you for today” Then he was off.

Aether sat there for a moment, dumb soft smile on his face. He sighed before picking up their small mess so Thoma didn’t have to deal with it in the morning.

He ended up staying on the couch, not wanting things to move too quickly. It wasn’t long till they were sharing a bed though. A few weeks later it was a more common occurrence for Aether to stay In thomas house, especially when the teapot was feeling empty.

Thoma did his best to quietly leave the bedroom so as to not wake Aether. He failed, Aether was a light sleeper but Thoma didn’t need to know. So Aether continued to lay in the bed, grabbing a pillow and hugging it since his cuddle buddy left.

He was able to get a few more moments of sleep before Thoma was back in the room, waking him up.

“Hey, beautiful, I’m making some breakfast” Thoma announced gently as he walked over to the bed.

Aether finally opened his eyes before stretching. He rolled over to look at the man in the doorway. “Hi” his voice was quiet due to not speaking yet.

Thoma smiled, “Hi”

“mmmm, come here”

“Okay?” Thoma walked over to the bed as Aether sat up.

“Hm” Aether pulled him between his legs before hugging him.

Thoma hugged him back, “I have food in the oven”

“Okay, take me with you”

Thoma let out a small laugh as he simply picked Aether up. The traveler wrapped his legs around Thoma’s waist to keep himself up as he was carried to the kitchen and set on a counter.

A lot of his mornings were like this with Thoma. They’d wake up together, eat together, then go to work. It was very domestic, something Aether wasn’t sure he’d like at first. It was incredible though.

Aether was with only Thoma for a long time before he ended up falling in love with someone else. It was after Inazuma had its problems dealt with by him, a time where he finally got to relax almost all the time in the new nation.

He was introduced to General Gorou sometime after arriving on the islands but never got the chance to speak with him directly too often. They had spent some time together and Aether learned a bit about him so he decided to try and get closer with him.

“Do you know where General Gorou is?” Aether asked one of the residents of Watatsumi Island.

“I believe he’s down by the beach”

“Thank you so much” Aether waved to them before starting to make his way to the beach closest to the village. Just as the person said Gorou was sitting on the sand. “Hello!” Aether greeted, watching Goruo’s ears perk up as he turned his head. He wasn’t going to comment on the flicking of his tail.

“Hello traveler, what are you doing here?”

“I wanted to see you” He answered honestly, crouching down on the sand next to Gorou.

“Really?” Gorou's face immediately turned a light shade of pink.

He was so easy to read. Despite the serious act he attempted to put on, Gorou got easily flustered. The tail and ears definitely didn’t help, they were a dead give away to however he was feeling. Take now as an example, Gorou tried to be nonchalant about the comment but he got flustered. His tail was also wagging behind him, kicking up a bit of sand as it did.

“Mhm, what are you doing on the beach?” Aether took a seat finally.

“Magazine stuff, do you think you could help me again? You were really good at this stuff last time”

Aether quickly nodded despite his words not being entirely true. Gorou was the one saying his thoughts and writing them down while Aether just gave him a slight confidence boost.

They took the time to sit and finish up Gorou’s work before they were seriously able to talk.

“Oh yeah” Aether grabbed the bag he forgot he had with him. “This is for you” He smiled as he took a plastic container out of the bag. It had a slice of cake in it. “It’s not much but you said you liked sweets and you guys aren’t able to have them here that often”

“Thank you” Gorou took the box a bit quicker than he meant to. “It, it means a lot to me that you’d remember something like that”

“Of course” Aether offered a soft smile that was quickly returned.

From then on Aether made a habit out of going to Watatsumi Island to see Gorou. Sometimes he brought a gift, sometimes he didn’t. Either way he could tell Gorou enjoyed the company. They were getting quite close too.

Aether could see Gorou turn his head towards him despite being quite a bit away from him, probably something dogs can do. He simply waved.

Gorou waved back and started walking towards him.

“Hey, sorry i’m here so late” Aether apologized, glancing at the sky. Stars were starting to appear.

“It’s no problem”

Aether smiled, he knew it wasn’t. Gorou obviously didn’t seem to mind.

“I was busy until a moment ago anyways, I don’t think I would’ve been able to talk much” Gorou admitted quietly.

“Would you like to do anything?”

Gorou tilted his head, “Like what?”

“We could walk around, eat dinner if you haven’t”

“Food does sound pretty nice”

“My treat”

Before Gorou could protest Aether was grabbing his hand and pulling him in the direction of the village. Aether glanced back to see him blushing.

They went to a little family owned place in the small village to eat. Their time together that night didn’t last long but that’s okay because Aether was with him almost every day.

After a few more weeks Aether finally learned a bit how to go about flirting with him. So, he decided to ask Gorou to hang out with him in Inazuma city.

They started their day off by looking around the shops since Gorou wasn’t on the main island too often. Aether had stopped in front of a little stand with handmade jewelry, looking around at it.

He glanced back at Gorou, noticing he stopped walking. He stepped beside him, looking at what he was looking at. “If you see something you like, I could buy it for you”

“Oh no thank you”

Aether couldn’t help but roll his eyes, easy to read. He simply picked up the ring Gorou was looking at. “Think it would fit you?”

“Oh, I, I don’t know”

“Here” Aether gently grabbed his hand, lifting it before sliding the ring onto one of his fingers. It was a simple silver ring with little paw prints engraved in it. Aether thought it was fitting.

“You don’t have to buy this for me, really”

Aether shrugged as he slid the ring off his finger, wrapping an arm around his waist as he got the attention of the lady who was selling them. He quickly bought the ring and thanked her.

“Oh it’s no problem, you two are so cute together by the way” She smiled at them.

“Thank you” He guided the two away from the stand before looking over at Gorou.

He was examining the ring on his finger as they walked. His face was almost as red as a strawberry and his tail had been wagging back and forth since Aether even offered to buy it.

“You’re really cute” Aether complimented quietly, tugging him closer with the hand that was still around his waist.

Gorou squeaked at the movement. “I’m not cute” He argued but there was no anger or genuine dislike in his voice.

Aether hummed, sure that he would never be able to get over how different Gorou was out of a fight. He was shy and caring but on the battlefield he was quite the opposite. It made sense, he had to be. “Would you like to get something to eat now?”

“Food would be nice,” He admitted.

“Food it is” Aether quickly started guiding them towards a place to eat. He decided on one of the few walk-in restaurants in Inazuma.

“Isn't this place expensive?” Gorou asked quietly, sticking close to Aether.

“Don’t worry about that”

It definitely was.

“Just two?” The worker at the front asked as they walked up.

“Yes just two”

“Come with me” The waiter led them back to a table, laying menus in front of them before he left.

“Aether” Gorou started, “I really appreciate this but really, isn’t it a bit expensive?”

“Not at all, I want you to have fun” He reached across the table to ruffle his hair before picking up his menu.

Gorou sat quietly for a moment, the entire day felt like a date to him. Aether brought him to the city to just walk about, bought him a nice ring, then decided to take him to a fancy restaurant. If he weren’t so flustered he would’ve asked.

Aether figured out what he wanted quickly and tilted his head up from the menu to look at Gorou. Things were moving quite slowly between the two and he didn’t mind one bit. He knew the other man was easily flustered and slow to admit his feelings. Plus, Aether had to admit he was having fun making him flustered.

The blonde let out a small sigh as he watched Gorou getting a bit frustrated at the Menu. “Need help?”

Gorou quickly looked up from his menu. His face red again, this time from embarrassment.

Aether didn’t need an answer; he simply got up and moved around the table to sit next to Gorou. “You can say when you need help you know” He put a hand above Gorou’s left one on the menu; opening it enough so they could both see it at the same time.

Aether started to take the time to point out what he liked on the menu. He explained things Gorou didn’t know and helped him eventually decide on what to eat.

Their waiter came back a moment later and took their orders.

Gorou was still messing with his ring.

“Do you like it?”

Gorou nodded quickly. “Thank you again, for buying it, you really didn’t need to do that”

“You wanted it” Aether shrugged as he slowly took Gorou’s hand into his own. “I think it suits you”

“Thank you” His face started to heat up again as he placed his free hand on his tail to keep it from moving. They were sitting in a booth and he was sure it would make a lot of noise if he got excited about anything.

“Can I ask you something?”

“Of course”

“I've noticed that whenever I visit you on Watatsumi Island it’s like you know i’m coming before you can see me, is that a dog thing?”

“Oh” He was still looking at his one hand in Aethers, unwilling to make eye contact. “Well, yes it is, I can feel people coming from quite a bit away and i’m able to tell the difference between some people’s footsteps, especially when I like them”

“You like me?”

His ears quickly went down. “Oh no, not like that, well i mean it's, it might be like that, but it doesn’t have to be, you don’t have to take it that way, oh gosh”

“Hey hey, it’s okay” He quickly reassured, giving a small squeeze to the hand that was still being held in his own. “I like you too”

“Like that?”

“Yes like that, dummy” Aether lightly nudged him with his shoulder. He watched as his ears quickly perked back up.

Things were quiet until the food came, Gorou had a smile on his face the entire time despite how he tried to hide it. Their food was brought to them quickly. They took their time eating; having conversations as they did.

“Do you want dessert?”

Gorou glanced at the small menu that sat on every table, he quickly shook his head. “You’re paying for all of this, you’ve really already done so much”

Aether hummed, “If you say so” He ruffled the hair between his ears. He paid for the food before they made their way out of the restaurant.

The two found themselves walking the streets of the now quiet city as the sun set. Soon enough though they were outside the city, walking along beaches as they talked.

“Woah” Aether turned to face the ocean as the sun set over it, turning the water shades of purple and orange. “Here” He sat down in the sad and held his arms open for Gorou, offering to give him a place to sit on his lap.

“Are you, I don’t”

“You can say no,” He assured.

Gorou stood for a moment before taking the offer. He sat on Aethers lap as they both faced the sun.

Aether hummed as he slowly lifted a hand to start playing with Gorou’s hair.

They sat there for a while. Actually it was long enough for Gorou to fall asleep. He had his face buried in the crook of Aether’s neck as they continued to sit. Aether let out a quiet sigh as he picked up Gorou.

The two spent the night in the teapot. They woke up together and ate breakfast before Gorou had to leave the island. They started dating some time after that which caused Aether to visit him much more often; even spending weeks at a time on Watatsumi Island to be with him.

Aether hummed some random tune to himself as he walked, not paying attention to his surroundings like he should’ve been. He heard quick footsteps but it was too late, whatever, or, whoever, was running at him had practically tackled him. He had just managed to not fall as he opened his eyes, an excited Gorou was hugging him tightly. “Well hey, pup” he pressed a quick kiss to the top of his head.

“Hi” He greeted back, he had his arms tightly around Aethers waist as his head rested on his chest. “I have some work to do”

“I can just follow you around, no need to worry”

That’s exactly what he did, followed Gorou around as he did what he needed to do. The day went by quickly so it didn’t feel like long until the brunette had some free time. They followed a trail till finding a nice spot in the grass to sit.

“It’s felt like forever since I last saw you” Gorou poked at Aethers leg.

The blonde only laughed, “I was here yesterday”

“That’s too long” He mumbled, yelping as Aether quickly grabbed his wrist.

“Why are you poking at me?”

Gorou tilted his head. “I just missed you”

“I think you’re trying to fight,” Aether joked.

“What? Why would I?”

Aether laughed as he slid his hand down Gorou’s arm, grabbing his hand before pulling him close. Their faces were only a few inches away. “Think you’d lose?”

“No, I just, well” He was starting to blush.

“You’re adorable, can I kiss you?”

“I’m sorry, can I, you just, you, well I” He scrunched his face up before nodding. “Yes”

Aether smiled before pulling him in the rest of the way. He could hear Gorou’s tail moving and grass behind him. He hummed into the kiss before pulling away, watching as Gorou’s head moved forward slightly; a sign he didn’t want to stop. “You’re adorable”

“you’re mean”

“Can I kiss you again?”

Gorou was quick to nod this time, even moving forward to rest his free hand next to Aether’s leg.

They quickly started kissing again.

Aether slowly let go of Gorou’s hand before resting his own hands on the man's waist. He was quick to move him onto his lap, not being able to help the smile on his face as the brunette squeaked at the movement.

Gorou draped his arms over Aethers shoulder as they started kissing to a certain rhythm.

“I love you” Aether mumbled between kisses.

Gorou pulled away after a moment, tilting his head at Aether. “Wait, what?”

Aether smiled, starting to pepper kisses all over Gorou’s face. “I love you” He repeated softly. He could practically feel the heat of the man's face against his lips.

Gorou hummed as he melted into the affection, relaxed as his tail wagged behind him. “I love you too” he finally said back.

Gorou was far from the last man Aether would ever love. He’s grown to accept this. He was too full of love and appreciation to simply be with one person. Aether loved to find the beauty in all things, the intricacies and adventure of a relationship with all sorts of people just happened to be one of them.
