Work Text:

Luka returns home from the hospital, bandaged, sooty, and scarred. He looks at Marinette, standing in front of the window in a way that almost makes it look like she’s got a halo and a golden glow. He sits down and looks at her and tries to smile.
“I- I almost lost you.”

“No Luka, you did lose me.” Marinette says, water welling up in her eyes

“...I did.. But you, you can’t cry. You’re safe… Mar, was all of this worth it? Is there any point?”

“Everything we suffered will be made right.”

“Nothing is right about this! I don’t want to lose you!”

Marinette walks closer to Luka, her incorporeal form becoming more evident as she brushes a cold hand through his face
“You won’t have to worry about that for long. Your wounds are severe, I’ll wait, and we can cross over together.”

He starts to cry, but also smiles. Luka sits on the couch, with Marinette next to him. He plays her song one last time.
They cross over together, on a path made of light. Everything they had to suffer was truly made worth it. As the decades, centuries, and millennia go on, everyone joins them. They laid their lives down to save others, and were given true peace in return.
