Kagome watched wave after wave come in, feeling as though she were out there in the water rather than firmly on shore.
Her friends had already returned to the campsite. It had been her idea, after all, to go on a trip together, spending time like they'd done in the past in the days of Naraku.
But she hadn't anticipated how unlike the past it would feel now.
Miroku and Sango were married and had brought their kids along, too.
She and InuYasha weren't and they certainly didn't have any children. InuYasha was currently patrolling around, unable to sleep even now when he had his human friends with him.
Shippo would arrive later tomorrow, and Rin had decided to stay behind to talk with Kohaku and Kaede about something.
She sighed as she tucked her head on top of her knees and wrapped her arms around them. It was dark out, but the moonlight was still strong enough to reflect on the water, giving her enough light to see by.
Enough to see that she wasn't alone.
Sesshomaru was here, too.
