Chapter Text
Rain was bored. He looked at the clock just to frown when he saw that the hands had not moved since the last time he looked at it. Ple had left when his shift started so he could not even flirt with her hoping for her to finally agree to a date. Sky was ignoring him again. In fact, Sky had been ignoring him for the past three days. Only speaking to him when absolutely necessary and walking away whenever Rain tried to start a conversation. Except for the back table, the shop was empty. Just as it had been since he started work an hour ago.
He still was not sure what his father expected him to learn by working in the coffee shop over the summer. “Responsibility,” his father had told him when he asked for the hundredth time just that morning. Rain was not sure how that worked since legally he was the owner of the shop; his father had bought it for him when everywhere he applied had refused to hire him. Sure, the shop had a manager that technically was Rain’s boss, but it’s not like he could get fired or even reprimanded if he did something wrong.
If he could only convince Sky to talk to him, he would close the shop early and maybe they could make it to the bar before last call. He looked over to where Sky was busy wiping down the pastry display case and silently made his way over hoping to corner him before he could escape.
“Sky,” he started with a pout on his face and a whine in his voice. “You can’t be mad at me forever; eventually you’ll have to speak to me. Classes start next week wouldn’t it be better if we put all of our misunderstandings behind us so that we can both succeed next year.”
“Hmph,” came from Sky’s mouth before he turned around to escape from Rain.
But Rain skittered in front of Sky again, “I’ve already apologized for what happened last week. He was cute. How was I supposed to know that you didn’t want him to have your number?”
“Oh, I don’t know,” Sky finally broke, “maybe because you heard me turn him down twice.” Rain looked lost for a couple of seconds, causing Sky to sigh, “Forget it, I know you didn’t mean harm, but I had to change my phone number because of you.”
“I know,” Rain whispered, “do you want Drake to hunt him down and beat him for harassing you?”
Sky shook his head, he really didn’t know why he even tried to make Rain see reason, “No, Rain I don’t want Drake to hunt anyone down.”
“Like are you sure because I’m pretty sure he’s bored just sitting there pretending to drink coffee,” Rain waved at the back table. Sky just shook his head and started to make his way toward the back of the shop; Rain continued to talk to his retreating back,
“Do you wanna close early and go to the bar?”
“No,” Sky said forcefully as he threw the door open, finally escaping into the peace and quiet.
Payu was exhausted; he had been up before the sun to check on a motorcycle that had been sent to the garage by Pakin with a message that it needed to be ready by the next day for the month’s races. The motorcycle itself was an easy fix; the only issue was that Payu did not have the time even for easy fixes. It was almost nine and he was barely making his way to the garage after a long day of meetings and things going wrong at his day job. He had called Saifah and asked him to meet at the garage so they could get the bike race ready. Before that he needed coffee, luckily he knew of a small coffee shop the perfect distance between the architect firm and the garage. He often stopped by early in the mornings on his way to work. He hoped it was still open at this time of night.
