Chapter 1: Before

Chapter Text

He tossed his phone away from him.

He had forgotten that today was his birthday, and how much he hated that day. He had been playing until early yesterday morning, his personal teacher couldn't teach him because he was sick, and his brother was probably doing things he called

 "Not your time to meddle".

His father had never bothered with such things, he thought they were 'irrelevant trivia' and usually sent him expensive things, out of 'courtesy' instead of celebrating a birthday with him.

Fourteen years of life and the most he had from his birthday was when his brother took him to a restaurant to eat cake and ended up in blood and broken things.

Correction, fourteen years of life and no birthday would have been worth it to be able to love them, none.

"It's a normal day, one day among millions more"

He Tian repeated to himself, knowing that deep down he wanted even a show of affection.

His heart broke when he thought about it, strangely he began to feel small, the mansion was as big as that indifference towards who was from what was supposed to be his family, thanks to that he felt that he was worthless, that so many millions given for the blood in his veins were a mere symbolic shit that tried to hide his loneliness.

At this point, he accepted that no one cared, not even his brother who had once sworn she would bend over backwards for him.

It was just a load that the others passed from one point to another, playing a ping-pong of responsibilities.

He had always listened to the not-so-silent arguments that his brother had with his father, they fought over his education or why he acted that way, that he was weak, that he wouldn't work for the business, that I was being a nuisance.

For He Tian there was absolutely nothing to celebrate, after all, they taught him so many things but they had already left behind the love and what he was supposed to assume as a family.

"He Tian, it's eight o'clock, why are you still in your bed? Who gave you the clearance?" He snorted when he heard the annoying and serious voice of his brother.

"Shouldn't you do things I can't do instead of coming here?" His brother didn't reply and He Tian didn't care, he even thought of wrapping himself up and getting some more sleep.

Of course, until he received a slight blow to the head, he looked at his brother with disdain, he gave him his immaculate look.

"We're going out today, I want you in the room in ten minutes." He left He Tian behind.

The black-haired man managed to wish every minute to be in his bed, going down the stairs with discouragement and arriving where his brother had indicated, with the least pleasant surprise of the day, there was his father.

"You have to be useful, you're already fourteen anyway." Said his father, he had just turned fifteen earlier that day, but he decided to keep that comment to himself.

"He Tian, you are going to come with us this time, we want you to see everything, you have to know this world." With that said, both older men turned their backs on him and started walking.

He simply followed them to a car, the weather was cold, so he hid his hands in the pockets of his black leather jacket and then got into one of the many luxury vehicles his family-owned.

The road was torture, He Tian wondered as he looked at the rural area, those trees, that gray sky, why couldn't his family be normal? Like in the movies, where when one has a birthday, the others get up early and bring a cake to bed, the birthday boy smiles and thanks them and blows out the candles, everyone goes downstairs to have breakfast, deliver the gifts, reminding the person what special that he is, they hug him a lot, so tight that He Tian wonders if the person wouldn't suffocate in the hug, he would like to suffocate like this.

A part of him dreams that this is a surprise party, one that he never experienced in his childhood and that he would never experience.

"We arrived." He heard his brother's voice, looked out the window for the last time, and saw a crow perched on a tree.

The first thing that was found upon going down were many very muscular men, dressed in suits, surrounding a badly injured man and dyed red, his dream is dead, anyways he knew that.

"He Tian, this is what happens if it occurs to you to betray the family," his father spoke this time, with a deep voice of him, taking out a weapon tinged with pure gold.

His father don't hesitate to shoot and blow up that man's brain, his eyes went wide, he had never seen anything like this, he had seen violence in the past, but he had never seen his father kill someone like that, blood painted the pavement. while the raven seemed to smell the blood, excited as much as his father.

He returned home that day without saying anything, his father and brother didn't seem to mind, he went to the kitchen while his family was going about their business, took a small bun, put a candle in it, and made a wish in a whisper with tears falling:

"I wish to stop being He Tian."
