Chapter Text
Wednesday Addams was not having a tantrum! No, she was just very opinionated. That was what was happening here, no matter what Mama Enid said!
“Wednesday, you have to go to bed.” Mama’s voice was soft and quiet and firm, staying gentle. It was the tone that Mama Enid used to show her little girl that, while she was still loved, she would be in big trouble if she didn’t listen to Enid right now.
It was well known by now between the pair of them that Wednesday was a class A brat. She loved to test the rules and boundaries, though she loved and respected her Mama Enid, even though she would never admit it. She loved that someone cared enough about her to worry about her well-being and make sure she was well-mannered and she put her toys away.
“I don’t wanna!” Wednesday complained now, scrunching her face up in an expression that definitely wasn’t cute, no sir! Enid did her best to suppress her smile. She had to stay stern and make sure Wednesday knew she was serious about her going to bed. “Wednesday, I’m not playing around. You need your rest, and you’re only acting like this because you’re tired.”
Wednesday knew Mama was right, but she had to put up a fight just to put up a fight. “No!” She stamped her foot, trying to glare at Enid. The effect was slightly ruined when she yawned wide enough that she felt her jaw crack.
“There, you see, my little bat?” Enid’s voice was gentle as she lifted her little girl into her arms and began to sway the two of them side to side. Werewolf strength came in handy sometimes, she thought with a small smile. “You’ll feel better after a good night’s rest. Don’t forget we have a fun day planned for tomorrow!”
Wednesday sighed, conceding defeat just this once. Mama was right, and Wednesday knew it. She tucked herself against Enid’s side as the other girl began to sing. Wednesday loved when Enid sang. The sound lulled her to sleep. Tomorrow would soon be here.
