The Dysfunctional Truth

Summary:

Peter finally decided to come out of his thoughts and venture to his room to grab his guitar. He grabbed his notebook and slung the guitar case over his shoulder as he made his way out of the apartment complex. He made sure no one was around as he started to swing away from the area towards the water tower that was a few minutes away.

Chapter 1: Chapter 1

Chapter Text

Peter was at an all-time low. After he got his suit taken away after the accident with the ferry he was scared, lonely, and sad. He wanted to cry, scream, just to let everything out. But as usual he kept it bottled up. That’s when he realized something. He’s tired of me… that’s why he hasn’t called. That’s why Happy hasn’t come to pick me up. The internship is actually gone. After these thoughts flooded through Peter's head they seemed to lock in place.

No matter how much he tried to stop thinking about it, he couldn’t. He couldn’t find a way to stop the voices from screaming these thoughts at him. But all he could do was smile and go along with his day. It didn’t help that MJ had stopped talking to him 4 months ago. Yeah, he could deal with that, it would be fine because he had Nedd with him right! Right? That would be the case is Nedd hadn’t stopped talking to him 2 weeks after MJ did. It started off small like canceling after school plans, that then turned into all of the plans after school, that turned into no hanging out after classes, then it turned into not talking or hanging out at all.

But that was fine. He still had May, and everything was going to be fine! Right? Turns out he was wrong again. She had started working later at the hospital. Then it turns out she had brain cancer. She wasn’t working extra shifts; she was getting treatment and she didn’t tell him.

So, he decided to do something he hasn’t done in a while. He wouldn’t keep the emotions all bottled up inside of him. He would take them all out and turn them into a song. He knew how much May loved hearing songs he wrote, so he had 2 weeks before the school Talent show to write the song.

Though he had told the Avengers that he was going to perform a month ago, but now he lost his suit he suspected they wouldn’t want anything to do with him at this point and he didn’t blame them. He was just Peter.

Once he had made it to the water tower, he grabbed the case off of his back and then pulled his guitar out and started to work out the cords going towards his song.

Tony was in his lab tinkering away with some upgrades on his suit when Friday alerted him that someone was making their way down to his lab. For a minute Tony debated about locking down the lab so no one could get in but before he could tell Friday to lock down the lab someone entered the lab.

There was silence for a few minutes before a family voice spoke up, “Stark? Are you in here? Friday told me I could find you down here,” ah yes. Of course, it was Capsicle.

“I’m here Capsicle. Now what was so important that you felt the need to interrupt me while I was in my lab?”

“Have you heard from Peter? We stayed up last night for him to come over for movie night and he never showed. He also hasn’t been picking up our calls, is he okay?” Steve’s voice screamed out in concern.

“The kids fine Capsicle. I’m sure it’s just another teenage mood swing,” Tony said, in a careless way as he went back to tinkering with his suit. Steve just huffed while walking out of the lab making his way back up to the common room where Natasha, Bruce, and Clint were waiting for him. Bruce was the first to look up and acknowledge Steve’s presence, “How did it go? What did he say? Is Peter, okay?”

Steve just looked down at the mention of Peter and started rubbing his temples. “Stark told me he was fine, and the reason was a teenage mood swing,” Bruce grimaced at that. “I would understand maybe him being gone for a day or being in a bad mood but not ignoring us for 2 weeks.”

“I understand where you are coming from Bruce. I got to agree with him Cap. I have 2 little ones of my own. This isn’t normal. Not to mention Spiderman hasn’t been seen in 3 and a half weeks,” Clint replied. This seemed to bug Steve more. This wasn't like Peter; he would never do anything to intentionally hurt the rest of the Avengers.
