Chapter Text
Here's to the one to let shine
Gary arrived in the late afternoon, just as the sun was beginning to dip below the horizon. He found Ash outside the lab waiting for him.
He was surprised to find that Goh was nowhere in sight, those two were usually attached at the hip.
“You lookin’ for Goh?” Ash asked, with that grin he always wore.
Gary smirked “Yeah, last I checked he’s the only thing keeping you from getting yourself killed”
“Aww so you do care!”
“Of course I care, idiot, you’re my boyfriend. On the topic of boyfriends, where’s yours?”
“He was tired, so he’s resting I think. And he’s your boyfriend too, ya know” Ash replied turning to the door “We can go look for him though, he’s prolly nearby somewhere”
Ash and Gary split up to look for Goh, Ash went to look around the house while Gary looked around in the park.
Goh was sitting on the grass near the middle of the park.
Grookey was sitting in his lap while Goh leaned against a tree, he was frowning, as if deep in thought, as he looked up into the tree’s bright green leaves, the blue sky above peeking through the leaves.
Gary allowed himself a few moments to watch, his lips curved into a soft smile, before he walked over to Goh and sat down next to him, calmly waiting for him to notice that he was there.
“Oh hii Goh!!” Ash called out, running into the park.
Goh’s eyes snapped to Ash in alarm, before he processed that it was Ash and waved, smiling. “Hey, Ash”.
Gary took this as his moment and wrapped an arm around Goh’s shoulders “Hey, sweetheart” he said with a grin.
Goh yelped in surprise, before placing a hand over his chest “Oh my gosh” he said shakily “I swear you’re going to be the death of me”.
Gary grinned, proud of himself, and gave Goh a quick peck on the lips.
Goh just rolled his eyes, before Ash flopped down on the ground next to Goh “Hey! What about me? I want kisses too…” he said, giving Gary and Goh sad puppy-dog eyes.
Now Goh laughed and gave Ash a kiss on the cheek, leaning his head against Ash’s shoulder, Gary’s arm still wrapped around Goh’s shoulders.
It felt safe there, cuddling with his two-favourite people in the world, Ash felt happy and content. He repeated those words in his head like a mantra, even long after it was over.
Safe.
Happy.
Content.
