Work Text:
Aizawa Shota and Yamada Hizashi had been friends since their high school days. They both attended the same hero school and even shared the same homeroom class. Back then, Aizawa was a reserved and introverted student, while Yamada was the complete opposite. He was outgoing, energetic, and always had a smile on his face.
Despite their differences, they had formed a close bond and became inseparable. Aizawa admired Yamada's confidence and ability to make friends easily, while Yamada respected Aizawa's intelligence and dedication to becoming a hero.
After graduating from middle school, they both enrolled in the same hero course at U.A. High. It was there that they both learned how to efficiently use their quirks and began their journey to becoming professional heroes.
Years went by, and Aizawa and Yamada became well-known heroes in their own right. Aizawa was known for his quirk, "Erasure," which allowed him to nullify other people's quirks, making him a formidable opponent. He liked to stay underground and help those who are often forgotten by everyone else. Yamada, on the other hand, had a quirk called "Voice," which allowed him to amplify his voice and use it as a weapon. He was a limelight hero, known for being inclusive to everyone and for supporting different communities like deaf youth or LGBTQ+ groups.
One day, while on a mission together, Aizawa and Yamada found themselves in a difficult situation. They were facing a villain who had the ability to manipulate time, making it difficult for them to defeat him. Aizawa was focused on trying to nullify the villain's quirk, while Yamada was trying to use his own quirk to distract him.
As they fought, they both became exhausted and injured, help had yet to arrive. Aizawa had cuts and bruises all over his body, and Yamada's voice was strained from overuse. They were both reaching their limits when Aizawa noticed that Yamada was getting weaker.
"Yamada, are you okay?" he asked, concerned.
Yamada nodded, but Aizawa knew he was lying. He could see the pain in his friend's eyes, and he knew he had to do something.
With the villain momentarily stunned from being slammed into a wall by Aizawa's capute weapon, Aizawa activated his quirk and ran towards his friend. He grabbed him by the arm and pulled him close, their bodies touching.
"Take a second" he said, and Yamada's quirk disappeared, taking away some of his pain. But also making him inappropriately blushing because of their sudden closeness.
At first, Yamada was confused, but then he realized what Aizawa had done.
"Aizawa, what are you doing?" he asked, surprised.
"I'm helping you. We need to finish this quick, take a couple of seconds and then get ready, I have a plan" Aizawa replied, still holding onto Yamada's arm. He would do anything to keep his friend save.
Yamada looked at him for a moment, and then he smiled.
"Thanks, Aizawa," he said, grateful.
They both knew that using Aizawa's quirk on Yamada meant that he was vulnerable to the villain's attacks. But Aizawa didn't care, they needed to get it together and take a minute to make a plan. Though he knew, would push come to shove he would do anything to get Mic out of here alive - no matter the consequences.
It couldn't have been more than a little over a minute of rest but that was enough. When Yamada's voice came back, and he used it to distract the villain, giving Aizawa the opportunity to strike. Together, they finally defeated the villain and were only just able to restrain him for the police before collapsing exhaustedly.
After the mission, Aizawa and Yamada were both exhausted and injured. They were sitting in the infirmary, getting treated for their wounds.
"That was really close. Thanks for stepping in, I owe you one," Yamada said, smiling.
Aizawa shrugged. "That's what friends are for. You would have done the same thing."
Yamada looked at him for a moment, really taking in his friend and finally realized something that has been growing inside of him for a long time. Without thinking he leaned in and kissed Aizawa on the cheek.
Aizawa was surprised, but he didn't pull away. Instead, he blushed, felt a warmth in his chest, and he realized for the first time that he had feelings for Yamada that seemingly went beyond friendship.
"Yamada, I..." he started, but he couldn't finish his sentence, nerves and self-doubt creeping up on him. He has never been good with feelings.
Yamada looked at Aizawa, waiting for him to speak. When he didn't, Yamada put a hand on his shoulder.
"It's okay, Aizawa. I understand if you don't feel the same way," Yamada said, giving him a sad smile and turned to get up, feeling his throat constricting. Has he just ruined their friendship? Has he just ruined the best thing he ever had?
Aizawa felt a pang of guilt. He didn't want to hurt Yamada's feelings, but he didn't know how to tell him the truth.
"I... Yamada wait!" Aizawa felt his face heating up, "I do.. feel the same way" he mumbled, blushing furiously.
Yamada's eyes widened in surprise, and then he grinned from ear to ear.
"Really? That's amazing, Aizawa!" Yamada squealed, his rough voice being the only thing keeping him from activating his quirk. He grabbed Aizawa's shoulders and pulled him in for a tight hug. Relieve and excitement flooding his system.
Aizawa felt a weight lifted off his shoulders. He still couldn't believe that Yamada really liked him! But he was looking forward to what the future will hold for them.
From that day on, Aizawa and Yamada started dating. They kept their relationship a secret from their colleagues, both rather private people, but they were happy together. They would spend their free time cuddled up on the couch, watching movies or playing video games.
Their relationship wasn't perfect, of course. They still had disagreements and arguments, but they always found a way to work through them. They supported each other through the ups and downs of their hero careers and their personal lives.
Years went by, and Shota and Hizashi were still together. They had faced many challenges, but their love for each other had never wavered.
On a warm summer evening, Shota and Hizashi were sitting on the rooftop of their apartment building, watching the sunset. Shota had his arm around Hizashi, and they were both enjoying the peaceful moment. Sometimes it was hard finding a quiet moment to spend together between them and their busy lives.
The blond turned to Shota, his eyes shining with love.
"Shota, I have something to ask you," Hizashi said, his voice trembling slightly.
Shota looked at him, curious.
"What is it?" he asked.
Hizashi took a deep breath, and then he got down on one knee. He pulled out a small box from his pocket and opened it, revealing a beautiful engagement ring.
"Aizawa Shota, will you marry me?" he asked, tears of joy in his eyes.
Shota was shocked. He had never expected this, but he knew the answer without even having to think about it.
"Yes, Yamada Hizashi, of course I will marry you," he said, smiling softly.
The blond stood up, and they hugged each other tightly, tears of happiness streaming down their faces while exchanging soft kisses.
They were engaged, and their love for each other had never been stronger. They knew that they had each other, and they were ready to face whatever challenges life threw at them.
As the sun set on the horizon, Shota and Hizashi kissed, knowing that their love would last forever.
