Uki looked at Fulgur who sat beside him on the couch, with an arm wrapped around his waist. He snuggled up closer to him, leaning his head on his lover’s shoulder.
Fulgurs smiled, setting his coffee mug on the table, he adjusted his position a little to make Uki more comfortable.
“Fufu-chan do you want some more coffee?”, Uki asked, realizing that the mug was now empty. He himself had run out of coffee too and was going to get some more for himself.
“If it wouldn’t be too much of a problem, then, sure, why not,” replies Fulgur.
Uki slowly walked to the kitchen while humming his song, Deja Vu. He went to the kitchen and quickly whipped up two cups of coffee, one black for him and the other with just a slight tad of cream for Fulgur.
But as he picked up the mugs to head back, he suddenly felt a familiar sharp pain in his chest. This has been happening to him for a month now but this was the strongest he’s ever felt it.

Flashback Starts
One week ago
Uki was cooking a simple grilled cheese on the stove for lunch. But his mind, however, was nowhere near the grilled cheese.
Recently, he’s been feeling brief periods of pain in his chest. He knows what this means. He needs blood. Human blood.
He suddenly snaps back into reality when Fulgur, who lives with him now, puts a hand on his shoulder. His face was full of worry.
“Are you okay Uki?”
“Huh? Oh yeah, I’m fine. Why?”
“You’ve been staring blankly at your grilled cheese, which is burning by the way, for five minutes now. It looks a little like Mysta’s cooking. Are you sure you’re okay? You look a bit pale.”
“No, no, I’m fine. Just a minor headache. It’ll go away soon.” Uki hurriedly said, not wanting Fulgur to worry about him and also not wanting him to find out what he was. He tried adding in a small smile to make it more convincing.
Fulgur who knows Uki has headaches a lot, still doesn’t quite believe him. ‘His smile looks forced’ he thought quietly to himself.
When Uki saw how Fulgur’s concerned expression still wasn’t going away he added with a stern voice, “Look Fufu-chan, I’m perfectly fine. There’s no need to worry about me.”
Fulgur still didn’t believe him. But he didn’t want to push the truth out of him if he didn’t want to tell. So he just said, “Alright fine, but don’t push yourself too hard. Feel free to take a break whenever you feel like your body needs it. You should get some rest. Why don’t you go sit yourself down at the dining table and I’ll cook up another grilled cheese for you.”

Flashback Ends
Present Time
Uki collapsed to the ground, clutching his chest. The mugs shatter on the ground as they fell.
From the living room, Fulgur hears the commotion and rushes over to see what happened. He found Uki on the floor clutching his chest and crying in pain.
“Uki? UKI! What happened!? Are you okay?” Fulgur carefully runs to Uki trying not to startle him.
But as he was running he accidentally grazes himself on the glass from the mug. He winces but he doesn’t care about it. All that mattered right now was seeing to it that Uki was alright.
He holds Uki up by his shoulders, supporting his weight. He gently brushes away the tears in his eyes.
“NO, NO! Stay away! I don’t want to hurt you!” Uki chokes out.
Uki sucks in a breath as he smells Fulgur’s blood, fresh from the cut he got earlier. The sweet-smelling blood fills his head as he breathes it in. His fangs are coming out and his eyes turn a mesmerizing shade of red.
Fulgur barely has any time to process what was going on before he felt his back slam onto the cold kitchen floor. He gasps as the force of it knocks the breath out of him for a second.
Uki’s senses black out for a second and before he knows it he’s on top of Fulgur, hands pinning him down by the wrists.
“Wha-what are you-“ says Fulgur but was cut off when Uki moved one of his hands to squeeze Fulgur’s throat, slightly choking him.
He leaned his head down towards the part where Fulgur’s shoulders and neck connect, his fangs fully out.
Just as Uki was about to bite down, he hesitates as he’s trying to fight the urge for blood. He doesn’t want to hurt Fulgur but he knows that he won’t be able to fight it for long.
He finally manages to find his voice and chokes out a desperate, “Q-quick, run. I c-can’t fight it for l-long.” He shakily slid his hands off Fulgur’s wrists and throat.
Fulgur hates seeing Uki in so much pain. A part of his brain finally figures out that Uki is a vampire and he’s in need of blood right now. But another part of his brain denies it and said that vampires didn’t exist.
He doesn’t know what to do. He didn’t want to run away while Uki was still hurting but Uki had clearly wanted him to go while he still had the chance.
His mind then flashes to all of the fun times they had together, whether it was hanging out, playing video games, or even doing chores together.
He was always happy around Uki. He was not about to let Uki die from his thirst for blood. He stopped resisting and let Uki lean down as he lost his control again. The vampire sank his fangs into him.
Fulgur gasped with pain as he felt Uki’s fangs pierce through his skin, drawing blood. But he bears it and lets Uki have as much as he wants. He closes his eyes trying not to focus on the sharp pain in his neck.
When Uki is done, he slides his fangs out of his lover’s neck. He licked up the excess blood on Fulgur’s nape.
Uki gasps as he gains control of his body again, the situation finally dawning on him. “Fufu-chan…” He felt like a monster. No… he was a monster.
An overwhelming sense of dread envelops him and he felt something warm and wet slide down his cheek. ‘What will he think of me?’ The question plagued his mind.
He shrunk in on himself, trying to make himself as small as he can. The smell of iron enshrouds him, attacking his mind relentlessly. He let out a strangled cry as he rocked back and forth, trying to calm his senses down.
After losing so much blood, the fatigue and dizziness were catching up to Fulgur. But seeing Uki cry with an expression full of guilt and shock on his face hurt him even more.
Fighting the dizziness, he forces himself into a sitting position and scoots closer to Uki. He wraps his arms around Uki, enveloping him in a warm hug, his metallic arm feeling cold against Uki’s warm skin.
“Hey, Uki it’s alright, you’re okay. Shhhh shhhhh. Why don’t we go to a more comfortable place? We can clean this mess up later.” suggested Fulgur, gesturing to the broken mugs and the spilled coffee still on the floor.
They supported each other as they stood up and slowly but surely made their way to their shared room.
After entering the room, they sank onto the marshmallow-like mattress. They just sat there, trying to think of what to say to one another. When Uki finally couldn’t handle it anymore, he broke the silence.
“I’m so sorry for what happened Fufu-chan. I understand if you want nothing to do with me. I can pack my bags and move somewhere else. F-far, far away from you so you never have to see me a-again.” said Uki, his voice cracking.
Fulgur had started hugging him once again. In a stern voice, he said, “Listen to me Uki, what happened was not your fault. I still love you with every cell of my body. You are staying here and you are not moving. Borrowing some words from a certain demon I know, ‘You can be anyone you want. Don’t be afraid and live your life, this world is full of hope.’ Just because you are a vampire does not mean that you are a monster. What you are doesn’t define who you are.”
Hearing these words had Uki in tears again. His relief showed on his face through the small smile he wore. He hesitated a second before leaning up against Fulgur as Fulgur stroked his silky smooth hair.
They lay side by side on their bed, taking comfort in each other’s warmth.
“I love you Fufu-chan.”
“I love you too sweetheart.”
