Mallory’s Pov
As I unlock the basement door, so it looks like someone broke in when the police investigate later, I briefly wonder if I really want to do this. But before I let myself finish that thought I push it away I have everything planned out and have put too much time and energy into this plan to back out now. Once I have unlocked the door, I make my way upstairs and to my husband’s office It’s a shame I must do this I think he was nice. Once I reach the door to my husband’s office, I quietly open it and sneak into the room. Just as I suspected working on his computer with his headphones in which makes this easier. I discreetly pull out the knife I had put in my jackets pocket earlier as I make my way to directly behind his chair. As I’m about to raise my hand with the knife in it I once again briefly wonder if I really want to do this, but I snap myself out of my thoughts raise my arm the rest of the way before harshly bring the knife down into his back and heart. As I pull the knife out my eyes meet his now lifeless ones and for a second, I feel guilty. But I move past that and turn to walk out of the room and start making my way to the bathroom to wash the knife and my hands. Once there I turn the sink on and thoroughly wash my hands. Once I’m done with that, I make sure to wash all the blood off of the knife. Once finished I turn off the sink and with the knife still in my hand make my way to the kitchen before placing the knife in the sink with the rest of the dirty dishes. I start to force myself to fake cry to not make the 911 operator suspicious when I call to report the murder. As I wait for an operator to pick up my call I go over the script I have for when I do this in my head. When the call finally connects, I start my sob story of how when I went to check on my husband in his office, I was meet with the sight of him dead. When the police and ambulances arrive, I repeat my story to the officers while the others remove my husband’s body. After the police finish interviewing me, they look at the crime scene it’s a couple hours before they leave but when they do I start smiling confident I got away with it once again.

As I’m reading an article about how a rich businessman Elliot Wood was found dead under mysterious circumstances. The name of his wife sticks out to me Mallory Walsh I can’t immediately figure out why but after a little thinking I figure it out. Mallory Walsh has been featured in the papers before also for the mysterious death of her husband. Now it could just be extremely bad luck, but I don’t think that’s likely. So, I decide to head to the police station and tell them this so they can investigate it further. When I arrive and tell them why I’m there they escort me to a small room of the side. Upon entering the room, I find a small table with two chairs facing each other on either side. The person who escorted me tells me someone will be with me soon. After what feels like forever someone enters the room and introduces them self as Detective Louis Sullivan. Detective Sullivan ask me lots of questions about who I am before moving on to why I came in. Once I’m finished explaining everything Sullivan thanks me before escorting me to the door.

As I’m submitting the necessary files, I need to get the money from life insurance I think about what I’m going to do with it $2 million is a lot of money after all. But that’s when I get a call from the local police department saying they have reason to believe I’m involved in the death of my husband and that they want to interview me again. Once they hang up, I start panicking I’m not prepared for this. As I make my way to the police station. I am going through my head trying to figure out where I may have messed up. Its not long before I find myself out front of the station and I find myself taking a couple deep breaths before heading inside. When I introduce myself to the lady at the front desk her eyes seem to betray a sense of recognition when she hears my name. She escorts me to a small room off to the side and tells me to “please have a seat.” After a Couple of minutes Detective Sullivan walks into the room and sits across from me. He does not waste time on pleasantries and instead gets straight to business explaining how an person named Amanda gave them a tip saying I’m involved in the death of not only my latest husband but the two before that as well. He mentions that while I’m going to be questioned people are already reexamining the cases. After that he begins questioning me for what feels like hours, I’m finally free to go. Two days later the police knock at my door and when I open it they inform me that I’m under arrest before putting me in handcuffs and escorting me to the back of their police car. As They get in and start to drive, I think back on how I got here and find myself not regretting anything. I know I will be sent to jail but I honestly cant find it in me to care and I find myself thinking maybe I didn’t do it for the money but rather because I wanted to be caught.
