Chapter 1: Prologue

Chapter Text

Joy took a look around and started beaming upon seeing that Head Quarters was already taking its form. It has already been 5 years since Riley was born and the glowing girl cannot wait to see how many memories she and her friends can make. Despite some of them not making good first impressions, she's certain that Riley will have the happiest life she could ever have.

The star turned to the screen, taking control over Riley once again. It wasn't long until she saw someone else by her side. Another emotion!

She turned to see a silver and golden girl..? Man..? She couldn't tell. They had a golden, long and curly hair tied down with an elastic band. They were wearing a striped shirt with an open short-sleeved jacket with a hood, allowing the stripes on the shirt underneath to show. To Joy's amazement, they had silver skin with yellow spots all over them. How pretty!

They looked confused, removing the hand they used to press one of the buttons, which didn't have a single effect on Riley.

"That's strange," they questioned.

"Hello!" Joy waved at them.

Her greeting caused them to turn their head towards her, and as soon as they saw her, they show her a smile.

"Hi! I didn't see you there," they greeted, lightly waving back.

"Don't worry, it's fine!" Joy replied, extending her arm towards her new coworker as she says, "I'm Joy! And you?"

"Empathy. Nice to meet you!" They replied, shaking the girl's hand.

As soon as they introduced themselves, she offered herself to show the new emotion around. She already got the hang of things, so it wouldn't hurt to show them how things work around there. Empathy agreed to her delight.

And that is how our story begins.
