Chapter Text
Unknown location a few kilometers from Hokage tower
Near silent footsteps could be heard running across roofs and trees as Anbu and Jounin raced toward a singular goal.
The Hokage guard did their best to stay in formation but their detail moved too fast. It was such times that everyone realized why the third Hokage was called a God amongst the ninja.
But even the presence of the Hokage could not quell the desperation that had the men moving with maddening intensity.
The group moved with deadly intensity towards the hidden root facility and they did not bother to hide their chakra signatures. There was no point, it was already too late for any kind of deception.
Shikaku Nara, the Jounin commander and Nara clan head was leading this legion of Ninjas, his form almost blurring as he raged silently.
It's been 6 hours since his son was taken by Danzo’s puppets. And if anything happened to him, Shikaku plans to raze this entire village to the ground, and everyone could feel it.
The Konoha ninjas suddenly became aware of the clansmen following their leader and how their numbers overwhelmed the other 3 to 1.
If they do not successfully recover the only heir, one of the oldest clans will turn on the village, and that was not something Konoha can afford only a few years after the Kyuubi attack.
'What have you done old friend, you have killed us all.' The Hokage thought grimly, praying that the damage he has to clean up is minimal.
6 hours ago, near the children’s park
Shikamaru was bored.
He was always bored, the world moved too slowly to entertain him. His father and uncles all told him to focus the irritation inwards, to not draw attention to his boredom and his mother taught him how to act in public like a normal ninja clan child and he understood the reasoning, he really did.
But he was not in the mood to play with the other children.
At seven years old, he was already at the mental intelligence of someone in late teens, and his theoretical knowledge was at chunin level, childish conversations made his brain hurt.
Suddenly he felt a blip of chakra behind him, a faint presence that was muted like ANBU, and sometimes his clansmen felt like it too, whenever they came to meet his father, but why would ANBU be lurking around a kid's park filled with clan children?
But before he could do anything, the ANBU chakra moved on top of him, startling Shikamaru with the attack.
His shadows flared out to protect him, but another ANBU came from his side, from behind an overgrown hedge, and grabbed his face.
Shikamaru cursed his habit of self-isolating during such gathers and before he could take out a kunai, the ANBU activated the seal in his hand and Shikamaru blacked out.
