Chapter Text
Alhaitham POV}
If you could change your
fate, would you?
That's the only thought that runs through my mind as I hold the lifeless body. The body of the main person that caused most of my headaches, my lazy roommate who would never do his laundry, and worst of all...
The person that I swore to love for all my life, even if he would never know.. even if I had to die
Where did it all go wrong?

"Urghhh.... how long did I sleep for..?" I groan into my pillow after waking up, hand on my alarm clock not expecting an answer from my previous question. Not only did it feel like I only slept for two hours, but this horrible headache isn't helping at all.
"Hah! I bet you don't even remember how you got home!" A mockingly voice comes from the left of where I'm laying down at. Once I found out that someone else was in (what I predict) my bedroom, I quickly reach for my sword by the side of my bed. Then I pause. The only person that would talk so informally and rude to me is..
" Kaveh.? Why are you in my room?" I ask the slightly shorter blonde that was leaning on the wall. He's topless too. Wait.. he's topless?
"Before you use that all so stupidbrain of yours comes to a stupid conclusion, we didn't do anything! I had to carry your 6'1 drunk ass all the way to the house after we hung out with Tighnari and Cyno for a small meet up. I had first brought you to my room once we got home because it's the closest room to the front door, but then you threw up on the sheets.. you should be able to tell what happened next.." Kaveh explains to Alhaitham with a non-noticiable (it was 100% noticiable ) angry tone throughout the whole recap.
"..I threw up on you too, didn't I..."
I ask Kaveh, but I already knew the obvious answer.
"Obviously! You really thought I'd get half naked for anyone?" Kaveh rolled his eyes at me as he said that.
"I cant handle the smell of barf, so you better wash my sheets soon. There's a soup for hangovers to your side, take it once you get dressed." Kaveh says at he walks out of my room, slamming the door shut.
Once Kaveh left, I put my face back into my pillow.
As a few minutes past, I decided to finally take the hangover medicine. Once I finished the bitter medicine, I got dressed into my regular outfit and went into the living room with a open book in my hand.
I look up from my book to see Kaveh on to couch, sketching whatever is on that stupid yet creative mind of his.
The clock on the left side of the couch says that the time is now 12:32 PM which means the adventures guild should have brand new commissions now. Ever since I've gotten my vision, I've decided to help more people by completing them.
"Kaveh, I'm going out now to finish some commissions. Don't miss me while I'm gone." I say with a slight teasing tone which I don't use often.
"Hah! You think that you can get away with not washing my clothes AND my sheets? In your dreams!!! I'll come with you so you don't try to avoid home to do your chores." Kaveh says as he gets up from the couch with a smirk on his face as I only frown at him.
I turn away from Kaveh, taking my house keys from where they hang besides the front door. "Do what you want, just don't get in my way. If you do, I won't do the laundry for a whole month." I say as I unlock the front door, swinging it open.
"H-Hey! You can't do that! You're the only one that knows how to actually do it.." Kaveh yells at me as I step out of the door, but his last sentence was a mere whisper. I hear his unusual heavy steps which I'm guessing is the result from my teasing. Goodness, how much have I teased him in just 2 hours?
Kaveh slams the door shut, hopefully it's locked as well. Once his steps got closer to me, I start to walk to the adventures guild with the book from earlier still open in my hands. Oh, and Kaveh too.
{Time skip - 10 minutes}
"Hmmm.." I mumble to myself as I take a glance at the commissions as Kaveh is on a bench waiting for me.
I then find one that seems not too difficult while still doing something that involved thinking, or as Kaveh would say ,fighting.
"This one is far to the East, still willing to join me?" I ask Kaveh , shoving the commission paper to his admirable face.
"Haitham, I already said I'm going. I won't change my mind and go home just because I have to walk a little.." Kaveh says with a frown on his face once hearing my low expectations of him.
I roll my eyes and start walking to the way of the commission with blonde right behind me. The commission was sent by someone that photographs, but the place that someone had asked them to take a photo of was surrounded by a group of fungi and 2 lions. How did the fungi even manage to befriend the lions?
That question quickly dissolved in my mind as I saw the group of enemies from the commission.
" Kaveh, the traveler only just started your fighting lessons, so I think you should leave this one to me." I warn Kaveh as I start to wind up my wrist, sword in hand.
"Obviously, but I'm not that useless you know? I learnt quite a bit of defense skills from traveler, so I can protect the both of us! Mostly me though.." As Kaveh is bragging about his skills, I walk up the fungi and start beating the h e double hockey sticks out of them. A lion swips it's claws at me at my right, so I go left and go behind it. I stab the lion with my sword, and go to the fungi. In just to minutes, I wipe them out. The second lion jumps on me from above. I swing me sword above me, pointing it to the sky. Boom, lion skewer. I quickly clean my sword and collect the messy from the lions.
I suppose I could cook these for dinner.. I think to myself.
I turn back to Kaveh, expecting to see him sitting on the ground or something.
"ALHAITHAM!!" I hear these words, but I didn't have enough time to react.
BOOM
BOOM
BOOM
BOOM
'BOOM' is all I hear as I see the back of Kavehs head.
Kaveh collapses right in front of me, holding a suitcase in front of him with a hole in the middle.
I lean down to him, knees on the ground.
My eyes wide open, now holding Kaveh in my arms.
"..you idiot... n-next time.. react faster..." Kaveh says but it's a mere whisper.
My eyes are still wide open.
"What.. just happened.?" I ask myself out loud, looking up from Kaveh.
A ruin guard.
A stupid. Fucking. Ruin guard.
I look back down at Kaveh.
My arms start to shake.
Kaveh.
My roommate that always cause me headaches.
The only person I could call a friend.
The person.. that i had a one sided love with.
Is now dead in my arms.
Dead. Dead trying to protect me.
I cry. Tears pouring down my cheeks.
If only it were me.
If only I didn't let Kaveh join me on my commission, we could've avoided this.
How didn't I know how much of a risk I was taking, bringing someone that could barely protect themselves to fight in real life.
If only I could tell you how I felt..
I scold myself as I hear the ruin guard reloading. I then close my eyes, smiling while holding Kavehs cold body close to mine.
The least I could do..
Is join you in the afterlife..
"Open your eyes, Alhaitham."
A mysterious voice says.
I then open my eyes.
"It's so dark... who are you?" I ask cautiously to the mysterious voice , despite the fact that I'm already dead.
"Call me Nahida.. I've been watching you for a while, Alhaitham. You're future was bright, but your love for Kaveh was even brighter than that. I admire you. You changed your future... you're fate. Im willing to do something for you, since this is a first. I can let you restart. You can try again. If you accept, you can change your future again and live happy. What do you say?" Nahida asks me.
It's a lot to process. I just lost the one person I loved, died, meet a god, and now I can change my fate? And this isn't even the first time?
" ... I accept. I'd do anything for Kaveh. He should have lived till old, not die young."
" I wish you luck. And I'll warn you only once. You're future from here on will only be troublesome. Do you still wish to do this?" The god asks again for confirmation.
"Yes. The only thing I've regretted today is leaving the house." I say with a sad smile on my face, remembering Kavehs face again.
"Alright. Love him properly this time, okay?"
"Yeah." I say to Nahida. I then close my eyes.
I will bless you from above. Please.. just live properly this time, okay?
My eyes are shocked open.
Did it actually work?! I think to myself.
Panicking, I leave my room, rushing to the living room.
Please.. please be there... even if I have to deal with headaches again.. that would not compare to the pain of losing you..
"Alhaitham? I told you to change.! Look at you, you still have bed hair!" Someone from the couch says.
It's Kaveh.
The man that caused most of my headaches, my lazy roommate who would never do his laundry, and best of all...
The person that I swore to love for all my life, even if he would never know.. even if I had to die
"Kaveh... how about we go take a stroll.?"
Kaveh looks at me with a confused face.
This time.. in this life... I'll love you properly. Just please.. please never leave me again..
"..sure. Just remember to do the laundry when we get home!"
I take Kavehs hand.
"Yeah. I won't forget."
