Work Text:
Is trying to talk to her past lives even worth it? She’s already tried countless times, with the same result every time, silence. Well, it wouldn’t hurt, she was in desperate need of someone to talk to about… whatever is going on with her and Asami right now. She couldn’t talk about this to Mako, he’d get all clammy and awkward again, like when they were looking for the new airbenders. Couldn’t talk to Bolin either, he’d be way too excited and Korra couldn't trust him to keep his mouth shut. And she definitely couldn’t talk to Asami about it.
“Hey, all packed up?” Asami asks as she walks into Korra’s room in the Air Temple. Kora makes up her mind, an attempt at an impromptu (no longer available) past lives advice sesh wouldn’t hurt. “Just about, yeah. I just need to do one more thing.” Korra answers while shoving her last few things into her pack, giving Asami an apologetic look. “Take your time, it's fine. I'll be in here until you’re done.” Asami reassures her with a warm hand on her shoulder. Korra grabs the hand on her shoulder and squeezes it. “Thank you, I’ll be quick!” Korra responds with a lopsided smile and quickly exits the room. Asami chuckles and contently watches as Korra hurries out of the room.

Korra walks towards where she and Asami decided on their spontaneous vacation to the spirit world. She sits on the top steps and looks out towards the new spirit portal. “I really wish I still had the opportunity to talk to you guys.” Korra says out loud. “I know you’re probably not supposed to bother your past lives with mundane things as relationships, but…” She sighs as she lies down and looks at the dark but still bright sky. “Well, it sure doesn’t feel mundane to me.”
“It’s not like any of you can hear me, but some of you guys had to be a ladies man, or a ladies woman? Argh, whatever.” She lays one of her arms over her eyes and sighs. “Really wish they touched on the avatars' relationships during those avatar history lessons back then, at least I’d be a little less lost about this stuff.” Not like she would’ve paid attention, but it still would’ve been nice to have.
She wonders if any of the other avatars had this much of a flaming mess of a lovelife as her. “Did any of you guys end up dating your ex’s ex?” The only response is the faint sound of the music coming from the dance floor across the Air temple and the faint hum from the spirit portal. “Yeah, I figured.” She chuckled, standing to brush herself off and put her pack back on. “Thanks..” She says to the sky feeling a little better than before.

“I’m all good now.” Korra says as she walks into her room with a light smile on her face. Asami gets up from Korra’s bed and reciprocates the smile. “Let’s get going then.” Asami says with a lighthearted tone.
