Work Text:

October is the month of fall

Of pumpkins, witches, ghosts and all

Of Apple picking and raking leaves

Of skeletons up in the eaves

Of mirrors not reflecting vampires

Of haunted houses and roaring bonfires

Of nightmares during stormy nights

October truly is the month of frights

Conversing spirits, in creepy voices

Are only some of the many noises

Marking this month of pagan lore

On view in every Halloween store

When shopping, headless figures make great decorations

But a noose doesn’t work in those situations

Fancy a hay ride or a road trip or two?

A trip to a cemetery or ghost town will do

Pumpkin patches are popular places

As are yearly returning corn mazes

Bring your baking or a picnic lunch

Some apple cider will pack a punch

Prank calls can have people in stitches

Best avoid a summoning circle of witches

Masked figures are a regular sight

When trick or treating on Halloween night

The mention of this illustrious October event

Brings this patchwork of prompts to a suitable end

Notes:

Wishing you all Happy Halloween :)
